Chapter 462: Chapter 271: The Game Rules of "Twelve" [Part 3]
Cloudwater Haven.
Andrew Hughes, holding a workbook, stepped out of the elevator with his short legs.
He shook his head, looked around, found the house number, and walked straight over, then tiptoed to press the doorbell.
He pressed it once, retracted his hand, and then stood at the door, quietly waiting.
However, after waiting for a full minute, he didn’t hear a sound.
He slightly tilted his head, wondering whether to press it again, to make sure if the uncle was at home or not.
At this moment—
"So early, huh?"
A voice, carrying a soft warmth, floated over from behind.
Andrew paused, turned around, and looked up, sure enough seeing Camilo Nogueira, still as gentlemanly, impeccably dressed, with an urbane demeanor.
"Hmm."
Andrew nodded aloofly, clutching his book.
As he raised his hand to open the door, Camilo glanced at him and asked, "Have you eaten?"
"Hmm."
Andrew nodded once more.
Nora Scott couldn’t cook, so after dropping off Marcus Shaw and Oliver Scott, they detoured to a restaurant Nora liked, ate there, and then came back.
Pushing the door open, Camilo shook the bag in his hand, rather regretfully saying, "Then what to do, I bought dinner back, for two people."
Hearing his words, Andrew then noticed the bag he was carrying.
Two paper bags, both printed with the name of a restaurant, both packed to the brim.
"Then," Andrew’s nose slightly twitched, he hesitated for a moment, then spoke a bit haughtily, "I’ll keep you company and eat a few bites."
"So considerate." Camilo couldn’t help but curl his lips, reaching out to ruffle Andrew’s hair, "Thanks a lot."
Perhaps it was his voice being too gentle, or his action particularly affectionate, Andrew, who usually didn’t like being touched on the head, surprisingly didn’t mind his action.
He followed Camilo into the room.
*
The balcony was meticulously tended by Jack Carter, filled with green plants arranged in a staggered manner, and a variety of flowering plants, blooming in brilliant hues, each vying to show off, with the green plants flourishing vigorously, each growing more impressively.
Nora Scott sat on a lounge chair on the living room balcony, leisurely flipping through the script of "Reversing Life", carefully pondering the character of the second female lead.
"You just left Andrew Hughes with Camilo Nogueira?"
Holding a cup of water, Pedro Langley came over, opened the sliding balcony door, and leaned lazily against it.
"Hmm."
Nora answered without any guilt.
Smiling lightly, Pedro asked, "You’re that assured?"
Nora lifted her eyelids slightly, leisurely asking back, "Isn’t he your friend?"
This was clearly a sign of trust in Pedro’s judgment.
Pedro narrowed his eyes slightly, feeling quite delighted by those words.
"How does it feel to take care of a kid?"
"No feeling."
Andrew was so easy to look after, doing whatever he was told, staying put without causing trouble, and in his free time, finding a spot to do exercises all by himself, making it very easy.
A whole day without crying or fussing, making any noise.
Nora had the illusion of having Marcus Shaw by her side.
Taking a sip of water, Pedro tentatively spoke up, "Don’t you think about having your own—"
"Nope."
Nora cut him off before he finished, with a firm response.
She was still young, hadn’t had her fill of fun herself, where would she find time to have kids?
Moreover—
Recalling past unpleasant experiences still made her agitated, let alone considering anything else.
Pedro’s expression drooped slightly, strategically choosing to temporarily give up.
Having finished reading a page, Nora rested one hand under her chin and turned the script to another page.
Seeing the script she was reading, Pedro asked leisurely, "Have you signed the contract?"
"No, the production team hasn’t contacted me yet."
Although she hadn’t, there was no worry at all, as if the role was already secured, and she couldn’t miss out on it.
Pedro’s lips twitched slightly, "Can Henry Chapman deliver on his promises?"
"He can."
Nora answered very confidently.
Given Henry Chapman’s status in the industry, securing a role for her wasn’t a problem.
Moreover, Henry Chapman never overreached or acted on things beyond his grasp. Since he said he’d do it, his promises were certain to be fulfilled.
Simply put, Henry’s promise was much more reliable than a paper contract.
Seeing how much she trusted other men, Pedro felt a slight hint of jealousy, took a sip of water as if it were vinegar, stared at her script for a couple of seconds, and suddenly thought of something.
He asked, "The rules for the game in ’Twelve’ were released today, did you see them?"
"Hmm?"
Nora paused, looked up.
Her reaction was the best answer — it was clear she didn’t know.
Pedro helplessly curled his lips, "It’s all over the trending list; in the morning it was dominated by your matters, and in the afternoon ’Twelve’ took over, didn’t you know?"
"Didn’t look."
Nora was indifferent, though she did keenly catch onto the odd choice of words in Pedro’s comment.
Frowning slightly, she asked, "A TV show, what game rules are there?"
"..."
Pedro silently looked at her.
With the massive production team behind ’Twelve’ and its innovative filming methods, just the reveal had sparked intense discussion among countless netizens, not to mention the set of unprecedented "game rules"...
So had Nora taken the second female lead in one of ’Twelve’s stories without knowing anything?
Suddenly, Pedro felt a bit of a headache.
He had long been eyeing ’Twelve’, and had meticulously planned ahead, just so that when Nora agreed to return to acting, he could secure a suitable role for her in ’Twelve’.
Upon hearing Nora say she was going to play a role in ’Reversing Life’, one of ’Twelve’s stories, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief, thinking Nora actually had a plan for her acting career...
He ended up seeing her in a new light.
And yet, as it turns out...
He really shouldn’t have held any hope for her.
"How much do you know about ’Twelve’?" Pedro asked with little hope.
"Henry Chapman said, one TV show, 12 stories, 12 directors." Nora explained simply and then analyzed leisurely, "Directors who Henry collaborates with should have a decent standing in the industry. I suppose the directors for other stories aren’t newcomers?"
Pedro: "..."
Let the pie in the sky come crash down on her.
