“What did you just... say?” The patient in the inner ward didn’t quite catch it and asked suspiciously.
“I love you.” Lu Ce’s mind had cleared up by now, and he repeated it very naturally.
Huh? o_o ....
A single confession stunned the other guy for over thirty seconds. His mouth hung open like something was stuck in his throat, making him unable to speak.
That previously deranged grin and twisted expression were completely gone—only confusion remained.
“You... you're not... this...”
【: D*mn, I didn’t see this kind of opener coming.】
【: Straight up dropped the ultimate move at the start—hard crowd control, incredible effect. Looks like Long Wu was right, the Masked Boss is just picking new players to torture.】
【: Kirk, come take notes! Didn’t he say his ability was mental interference? Come see what top-tier mental interference really looks like.】
【: Honestly, the guy seemed kinda rational before, but now? That’s gone.】
Even the viewers in Lu Ce’s Game Livestream had forgotten how dangerous the game was—they were just thoroughly entertained.
But the patient inside the game? He wasn’t having fun. He stared at Lu Ce, face like he just ate sh*t, and finally couldn’t hold it in:
“W-why?”
Lu Ce casually closed the door and replied, “Kid, you gotta understand—true love doesn’t need a reason.”
All the lines the patient had prepared flew out of his mind. He murmured unconsciously,
“Love really doesn’t need a reason...?…”
“No wait why the f**k am I even thinking about this with you?!”
He looked up at Lu Ce in panic and cursed, “You got a f***ing screw loose, are you insane?”
“Bro, technically speaking, you’re the one who’s insane.” Lu Ce replied seriously.
The guy: ......
“Well... I guess that... kind of makes sense…”
No, wait!
He shook his head violently and slapped his own face, thinking—why the hell am I following this guy’s train of thought?
He had thought his new toy had arrived, but now? He was starting to feel an odd sense of dread. Something about this guy was different from all the others who’d come before.
“Who... are you?”
“Shouldn’t you introduce yourself first before asking someone else?” Lu Ce replied very politely.
“I don’t even really know who I am anymore…” The guy’s eyes looked a little hazy. “But... you can call me Wang Ao.”
“Alright, nice to meet you Mr. Zhang, I’m Batman. I am Batman!” Lu Ce deliberately lowered his voice, like he had phlegm stuck in his throat, mimicking the DC-style pronunciation.
“The hell?!” The guy’s voice jumped an octave. “What kind of f***ing nonsense is this?”
He smacked his own head hard. Wang Ao started doubting if he’d missed two doses of meds—was his condition getting worse?
Why did his brain feel so foggy today? Like he was seeing illusions.
“Alright, let’s get to the point.” Lu Ce said.
“Oh, okay.” Wang Ao replied instinctively. That sinister expression from earlier slowly returned to his face.
“So, where’s the food?” Lu Ce asked.
“Huh?” Wang Ao looked up, stunned. The little momentum he’d regained was completely shattered.
“The food?” Lu Ce spread his hands, like questioning him.
“The food... I don’t know why but they didn’t give me food today.” Wang Ao answered with an innocent face. Then suddenly realized something was wrong, “Wait a second! Aren’t you supposed to bring me food?”
“Why?” Lu Ce looked totally justified.
As the saying goes—when you’re confident, the other guy usually loses his confidence. Wang Ao stood there dumbfounded, seriously starting to think about it.
Yeah, why though…?
“Didn’t you call me here?” Lu Ce pressed on.
“When the hell did I call you here...?”
Lu Ce had only said a few words after entering, but to Wang Ao, it felt like a whole lifetime had passed. His mind was now a complete mess.
No! I can’t think about this!
Suddenly, Wang Ao’s eyes shot wide open, his already unstable mental state on the verge of snapping.
Clenching his teeth, a violent aura exploded from his body. He stomped his feet hard, standing up in one go.
His bloody gums bared, facial muscles stretched into stringy strips, his entire body bulging with muscle—he looked way better than Long Wu before.
There were fewer chains on him now—only a thick one around his left leg. The rest of his body had a lot more freedom.
He pointed his dark fingernail at Lu Ce and said:
“Kid, stop messing around in front of me. I’m warning you…”
But the next second, Lu Ce’s figure blinked and appeared right in front of him—face to face. They were so close they could feel each other’s breath.
Wang Ao froze. This was the first time anyone had dared get so close to him!
Wasn’t this guy afraid of dying?!
His pupils contracted, violence surged, and he was just about to attack—
But a powerful hand landed firmly on his shoulder.
“Mr. Liu, what’s the rush? Let’s sit down and talk.”
Then an immense, irresistible force pressed down from Lu Ce, like a mountain falling on him.
Wang Ao, completely unprepared, went weak in the knees and dropped straight to the floor!
“Hm? Why are you kneeling? No need to be so formal.” o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ
Lu Ce said, then sat cross-legged in front of him.
Wang Ao’s lips trembled. He stared blankly at Lu Ce for a long while, unable to speak.
Is this guy even human?
Was that strength even something a human could have?
His bloodshot eyes gradually softened. The thought of fighting vanished like smoke.
【: Nice, just as expected. His eyes instantly cleared up, hahaha! Just like Long Wu before.】
【: Long Wu: Bro, better you than me. Enjoy the ride.】
【: In terms of pure combat ability, this guy’s a total bug, right?】
【: Let us welcome our great Masked Man Boss for a new round of torture.】
“What’s wrong, Brother Li? Why are you still kneeling?” Lu Ce sat in front of him, the two mere inches apart.
Can you at least stick to one surname if you can’t remember my name? How many different ones have I had now?
Wang Ao’s brain was scrambled beyond repair. Talking was pointless, fighting looked like it wouldn’t work either.
Only one thing left—go with the flow. He needed to take back the rhythm, fast!
It was kind of sad—under the overwhelming pressure of Lu Ce’s insane mental game, Wang Ao, a full-on mental patient, was actually trying to strategize.
“I know why you’re here. You’ve got questions for me, right?”
Wang Ao blurted it out, afraid Lu Ce would steer the convo to another weird place again. Not waiting for a reply, he rushed on:
“You’re here to ask who’s the most severely ill person in this asylum, right?”
