Player’s Guide to Raising a BUG Angel-Chapter 42 : Full Server Mobilization! Build a Stage for the Wife!

Chapter 42

Chapter 42: Full Server Mobilization! Build a Stage for the Wife!
The moment Mophis spoke the words, “You are to become the… Guardian of this library,” the entire world seemed to freeze.
On Ignis’s stunningly beautiful face, that playful smile stiffened.
Her molten-gold eyes suddenly widened, filled with utter disbelief.
What?
What had she just heard?
This little thing… this “collectible” she regarded as nothing more than a delicate doll, had actually said… she wanted her, the great Golden Dragon King Ignis, to become the Guardian of this worthless iron shell?
This was no longer something that could be described as “arrogant.”
This was the ultimate, most blatant… desecration!
A desecration against dragonkind, and against her dignity as their queen!
A terrifying rage erupted from Ignis’s chest like a volcanic explosion! The dragon blood in her veins boiled, and an uncontrollable surge of destructive energy spilled out. The air around her warped under the heat, and the gravel on the ground began to melt!
She nearly couldn’t restrain herself, about to revert to her true draconic form and tear apart this little “thing” that dared insult her, along with the ridiculous fortress behind her!
However, just as she was on the brink of explosion—
A gentle golden radiance, filled with tranquility, once again spread out from Mophis, like spring wind and rain, softly brushing across Ignis’s soul that was about to be consumed by rage.
【Holy Light Affinity】 Effect Two: The body automatically radiates “Sacred Radiance,” causing continuous mental deterrence against all beings of the “Evil,” “Chaotic,” or “Greedy” alignments.
This “deterrence” was not an attack, but a kind of “soothing.”
It was like a basin of cool spring water poured over Ignis’s raging fury, impossibly suppressing her violent killing intent by just a fraction.
“Huff… huff…”
Ignis panted heavily, forcing herself to calm down as she glared fixedly at Mophis.
Something wasn’t right.
This little thing was far too strange.
Clearly as weak as an insect, yet always able to stir up—or even calm down—her emotions in inexplicable ways.
That sentence earlier, though blasphemous in meaning, had been spoken with eyes that remained so clear, so calm, without the slightest trace of provocation or malice.
As if she were merely stating a simple… “transaction.”
A “display” in exchange for a Dragon King’s “guardianship.”
In her view, it was… a fair trade?
This realization left Ignis dizzy.
What on earth was she? What was going through that mind of hers?
Did her perception of “value” differ from every other being in this world?
The flames of fury in Ignis’s heart were gradually replaced by an even stronger emotion—a devouring curiosity.
She wanted to know.
She couldn’t wait to know what this little thing intended to “display.”
What kind of thing could give her the confidence to think, “Its value is enough to rival the guardianship of a Dragon King”?
“Fine…”
Ignis squeezed the word through gritted teeth.
Her voice, hoarse from the extreme fluctuations of emotion, trembled.
“I’ll accept.”
“I want to see just what… earth-shattering thing you plan to show me!”
“If your so-called ‘display’ cannot satisfy me…”
She did not finish the sentence, but the destructive light burning within her golden eyes said everything.
And Mophis, upon hearing that single “fine,” nearly collapsed in relief.
She had won the gamble!
Once again, she had won!
She had successfully turned a life-or-death battle into a… talent show.
Although the price was that if the performance failed, the outcome might be even more tragic—
At least, she had bought time!
And for her, and for the players behind her, time meant everything!
The moment Ignis accepted the wager, the players’ Public Chat had already erupted into chaos.
“We won! The wife won again! No bloodshed, and she even flipped the tables!”
“Holy shit! Making the Dragon King a Guardian? What kind of god-tier brain circuit is that? I kneel before the wife!”
“This isn’t the fifth floor anymore—this is in the damn stratosphere! One wager not only defused the crisis but might even tame a World Boss as a lackey—no, as a gatekeeper!”
“Gatekeeper? Wrong! Guardian! The wife’s Guardian! From now on, anyone who dares cause trouble in the library better ask the Dragon King first!”
“Insane! This plotline is ten thousand times more thrilling than the official storyline! The GMs are probably crying in the bathroom right now!”
“Brothers! What are you standing around for? The wife already set up the stage! Next, it’s up to us!”
“That’s right! Talent show! Talent show! 【Special Effects Crew】! 【Sound Crew】! 【Stage Design Crew】! Get moving!”
With one command from 【LaceSupremacy】, the massive war machine that was the player faction roared back into motion with terrifying efficiency.
“Lighting Crew, listen up! Scrap all previous plans! We need a ‘wasteland poetry recital’ atmosphere now! Quiet, profound, with a hint of sorrow and poetry!”
“BGM Crew! Stop playing ‘Prelude of the Goddess’s Descent’! Too grand! Doesn’t fit the mood! Switch it to ‘Moonlit Contemplation’—something that makes people calm down and reflect on life!”
“【Building Beautification Division】! 【Ingenious Beyond Compare】! Where are you? Quick! Use 【Moonlight Stone】 and 【Starwood】 to build a temporary open-air, minimalist ‘viewing platform’ and ‘recitation stage’ between the wife and the Dragon King! No luxury, just atmosphere! Got it?!”
“And the most important thing! Props Crew! The wife’s going to read a book—but what book? It can’t be ordinary! It must be the most classy, most fitting book for her aura!”
This question stumped everyone.
Indeed, what book could the wife read to hold down a millennia-old Mother Dragon?
As the crowd fretted, a bard player with the ID 【Literature Mentor】 timidly raised his hand.
“I… I know of a book.
On the third floor of the library’s forbidden section, there’s an ancient tome called The First Song. It has no stats, can’t be learned, and its text is written in a long-lost ‘Primordial Tongue.’
It is said to be the trace left behind when the World Will first uttered a sound at the dawn of creation.
That book itself represents the ‘birth of the world’ and ‘the original beauty.’
If we let the wife recite from it…”
Before he could finish, 【LaceSupremacy】 slapped her thigh hard.
“That’s it!
Use the ‘birth of the world’ to move the ‘destroyer of the world’! That theme is brilliant!”
“Hurry! Stealth squad! Figure out a way to bring out that book! Whatever it takes—steal, trick, rob—no, ‘borrow’ it! Just get it into the wife’s hands before the stage is ready!”
In an instant, tens of thousands of players threw themselves into frantic preparations for the upcoming “talent show.”
Some carried materials, building the stage.
Some adjusted the lights, arranging the music.
And an elite squad of top rogues had already slipped silently into the library fortress—probably crawling through sewers or ventilation ducts or whatever it took.
Ignis simply crossed her arms, watching with great interest as the humans she once regarded as mere ants scurried like industrious worker bees, building a bizarre stage she could not begin to understand.
She did not stop them.
She was curious.
She wanted to see what surprises this swarm of ants—and their amusing “guardian”—could possibly bring her.
Meanwhile, standing at the eye of the storm, Mophis looked at the players’ feverish construction efforts, and at the endlessly refreshing mission s about The First Song in her forum thread, and sank into utter bewilderment once more.
Huh? The First Song? Third-floor forbidden section? Primordial Tongue??
I can’t even recognize a single word in that thing!
I’m just a stupid woman who likes reading romance novels!
The worst part is—
I didn’t even know that book existed! Why do you guys know the library better than me??
When did you sneak in again!!!
