Player’s Guide to Raising a BUG Angel-Chapter 59 : The Rich Lady’s “Reward”

Chapter 59

Chapter 59: The Rich Lady’s “Reward”
It was over. She was caught.
Mophis looked at Ignis, who had silently appeared behind her, and her heart skipped a beat.
This woman had definitely seen everything that had just happened. She had gone out flaunting the phantom of Ignis’s “treasure,” even waving around her name as a banner. How would this bad-tempered Mother Dragon “punish” her?
A hundred unpleasant possibilities flashed through Mophis’s mind in an instant.
“I… I only did it for the library…” she tried to defend herself instinctively, but her voice lacked confidence.
“For the library?” Ignis arched a brow, walking gracefully forward like a cat. The fiery red silk robe draped around her body traced breathtaking curves with every step.
She lifted one finger and hooked it under Mophis’s chin, forcing her to meet her gaze.
“Little thing, you may be able to fool those stupid worms outside, but you think you can fool me?” In Ignis’s golden eyes, a light of omniscient clarity flickered. “I can see straight through all your little schemes.”
Mophis’s heart sank.
She swallowed nervously, bracing herself for ridicule—or worse, a “physical lesson.”
But the words that followed from Ignis’s lips completely defied her expectations.
“However…” The corners of Ignis’s mouth suddenly curved in amusement. “Well done.”
“Huh?” Mophis froze.
“Those so-called imperial dogs quaked before you, groveling at your feet.” Ignis folded her arms, appraising Mophis like a work of art. “That scene—I liked it.”
“You… you’re not angry?” Mophis asked cautiously.
“Angry? Why should I be angry?” Ignis scoffed. “You used my name to slap my ‘enemies’ across the face. I couldn’t be happier. Remember, my ‘collection’—only I get to bully it. As for others? They deserve nothing but to kneel at your feet.”
Her words were like something straight out of a domineering CEO’s speech, leaving Mophis unsure how to respond.
She really felt like she and this dragon weren’t even on the same wavelength.
“Since you performed well this time and gave me quite the show,” Ignis continued, casually reaching into a glittering heap of treasure nearby.
The next moment, a dazzling diamond, so bright it dimmed the entire library hall, was tossed toward her.
“Here. A reward.”
Mophis instinctively reached out and caught it. The moment the gem touched her palm, she was stunned.
Wasn’t this the exact diamond she had just projected?
No, not quite!
The projection had no weight, no warmth. Yet this gem was heavy, radiating a gentle, pure energy. The holy aura emanating from it was hundreds, thousands of times denser than the phantom.
【System Prompt: You have obtained the Legendary item—‘Tear of the Divine Realm’ (Replica)!】
【Item Name: Tear of the Divine Realm (Replica)】
【Item Rank: Legendary】
【Item Effect: A crystal of the purest holy energy. Grants the bearer the state ‘Blessing of Holy Light.’ Slowly increases all attributes, increases damage against undead and abyssal beings by 200%, enhances all holy-element magic by 20%. Can be used as a top-tier magical core or alchemy material.】
【Notes: A certain ancient king once picked up this ‘small stone’ while wandering the Divine Realm and treasured it for its brilliance. Though merely a replica formed by the Divine Realm’s energy leakage, to mortals, it is priceless.】
A replica? Just a replica, and it already had stats this ridiculous?!
Holding the “small stone” Ignis had tossed her, Mophis felt her worldview shift once again.
So this was… the dragon’s treasure hoard?
“What’s the matter? Too shocked?” Ignis chuckled at her gawking, inexperienced expression. “Next time you show off, remember to use the real one. Make it convincing.”
Mophis opened her mouth but couldn’t utter a single word.
It felt like she wasn’t holding a gem but an enormous debt of gratitude.
This “reward” was too heavy.
Her first instinct was to hand it back, but she knew—what a dragon gave, could never be taken back. To attempt such a thing would be an insult to the dragon’s pride.
Then… how could she repay it?
Unbidden, her mind conjured up the shameful “lustful chant” of the night before, and Ignis’s glistening, desire-filled gaze.
Her face instantly flushed red.
No way…
Ignis, ever perceptive, caught the shift in her expression. Her golden eyes lit up, like a starving wolf spotting a lamb that had walked right up to its jaws.
She leaned down, her breath hot against Mophis’s ear, reddening them to the tips.
“Seems you already know how to ‘repay’ me, hmm?”
Her voice was husky and magnetic, each word brushing against Mophis’s heart.
“Tonight. Wash up, wait for me in bed.”
“I’ll be expecting your… ‘lullaby.’”
With that, she straightened, sashaying away toward the second floor—toward her “dragon’s nest.” She left behind only Mophis, clutching the burning-hot diamond, on the verge of exploding from shame.
This trade… something wasn’t right!
Had she just sold herself?!
As Mophis wrestled with this inner turmoil, the heavy obsidian doors of the library were carefully knocked upon.
“Um… Guardian, are you in?” A slightly nervous, scholarly young man’s voice came from outside. “I’m the temporary City Lord elected by the ‘Mophisia’ Provisional Management Committee, Divine Strategy’s Math Hut. I… I’ve brought the preliminary city planning proposals to to you…”
Mophis jolted, hastily stashing the “Tear of the Divine Realm” into her inventory.
Taking a deep breath, she forced down the redness on her face and put back on her cold, detached mask.
Damn it, she almost forgot—she was still the nominal supreme leader of this “Holy City.”
Business first, business first! As for that deadly “homework” tonight… she would deal with it when night came.
