"Let me do it then." Tang Yuan scratched his head. "If the Government Hall people find the female tour guide and we can clear the level, higher risk might mean better game rewards."
"Then it's settled!" Wang Qiao quickly agreed, then said to Sun Jirou, "Anyway, the items are in your two's hands. If something happens, you'll have to take the lead."
Sun Jirou gave him a cold look and walked ahead first.
Tang Yuan and Yang Sheng followed behind her, with Wang Qiao and Gao Baimei in the middle, while Xu Huo and Tao Chengxin trailed at the back.
Passing by a restaurant, Xu Huo called out to those ahead, "It's almost afternoon, are you hungry? Let's eat something before continuing."
Wang Qiao and the others turned to look at the discounted dishes posted at the restaurant's entrance, their faces twitching slightly. Gao Baimei said sourly, "Some people just have money, unlike us who can only eat cheap stuff."
The nearby shops were all high-end. Yang Sheng spotted a shop at the street corner ahead and said, "Let's go there."
Sun Jirou wasn't short on money, but after hesitating briefly between Xu Huo, Tao Chengxin, and Tang Yuan's group, she chose the latter.
Tao Chengxin followed Xu Huo into the restaurant with visible pain.
As soon as they entered the private room, Tao Chengxin sat there staring intently at Xu Huo. Xu Huo remained unperturbed as he took his seat, drank tea, and ordered food, completely ignoring her gaze.
Tao Chengxin eventually gave up and took the initiative to speak, "Why did you separate from them?"
"Why did you follow me?"
"Compared to those people, you're more cunning." Tao Chengxin said, then added with some frustration, "Actually, you don't really want those two items, do you?"
"How so?"
"You're afraid that old woman tampered with the items." Tao Chengxin said confidently, pausing before adding somewhat dejectedly, "You were right, my special effect doesn't work at all, because my trait also judged the old woman's words as true."
"What she said and what the female tour guide said are different, but only one of the two facts can be true. My trait made a mistake."
"It might not be that your trait made a mistake." Xu Huo said, "You didn't know about Fairytale City beforehand, so you had no basis for judging truth from falsehood. Besides factual recognition, you probably can only determine if someone is lying through their physiological reactions like heartbeat."
"If that's the case, it's easy to deceive you."
Tao Chengxin's eyes widened slightly, then she asked, "So who do you think is telling the truth?"
"I don't trust anyone." Xu Huo glanced at her, "The food's here."
Tao Chengxin swallowed her words and waited until the server finished serving the dishes and left before urgently asking, "You mean they're all lying?"
"If that's the case, wouldn't we fail to complete even the first two tasks?"
"Lying doesn't mean it's not the correct story." Xu Huo said, "The dungeon requires finding someone who tells the correct story, not one hundred percent truth."
"Both the female tour guide and the old woman talked about the Great Contamination twenty years ago, so they barely qualify as people telling the correct story. As long as we find the teeth, our task is complete."
"But if that's the case, doesn't it mean the old woman from the Fresh Meat Sausage Shop was telling the truth?"
"Truth or lies aren't important. We just need to find the teeth." Xu Huo said.
Tao Chengxin rubbed her head, "No, I still don't get it. According to your reasoning, either could be true or false. The item 'Angel's Teeth' the old woman mentioned might not even exist. Aren't we being tricked into finding people for her? And we're taking on significant risk too!"
"We got two items out of it, so it's not a wasted trip." Xu Huo said calmly.
Tao Chengxin stared at his impassive face for a long moment before saying, "I used to think others were fools, but now it seems I'm not that clever either."
Xu Huo gave her an appreciative look.
This time, Tao Chengxin didn't rise to the bait but silently picked up her chopsticks to eat.
After finishing their meal, they encountered several tourists at the private room entrance who were preparing to leave Fairytale City with large and small bags. Xu Huo helped carry their luggage to the door before returning to settle the bill.
"Four thousand, two thousand each." he told Tao Chengxin.
Tao Chengxin paid with difficulty.
When the two reached the street corner, Sun Jirou and the other four had been waiting for a while.
"Are we just going to wait around for others to find us?" Gao Baimei asked.
"We've already been to that Sunflower Courtyard, and no one was there. Besides waiting, there's no other way." Sun Jirou felt the female tour guide wouldn't have returned there after they left.
"Finding someone is simple." Xu Huo said at this point, "Go to True Love Square. Maybe she's waiting for us there."
"Are you stupid? Why would she still be there!" Gao Baimei blurted out, "Isn't she afraid of being found by Government Hall people?"
Xu Huo smiled, "She wants something, so she'll definitely be active outside. Since you don't have a better plan anyway, why not try your luck?"
Tang Yuan and Yang Sheng exchanged glances, with the former saying, "We still have opportunities until the dungeon ends tomorrow. Let's go to True Love Square first. If we don't find anyone there, then we'll go to the Sunflower Courtyard."
Having no other methods, they turned toward True Love Square.
"...After the husband died, the wife jumped into the sea after him. Where they died, flowers bloomed across the sea surface..."
The White-Dressed Girl was truly at True Love Square.
Sun Jirou was shocked but also hesitant. If the other party was this brazen, clearly unafraid of Government Hall players, would bringing the Access Card inside really allow Government Hall to have a way to deal with her?
At this moment, Xu Huo smilingly stepped forward and handed her a Golden Powder Purple flower he had conveniently bought earlier.
The White-Dressed Girl smiled as she accepted it, "It's been a long time since anyone gave me flowers."
Sun Jirou and the others were suspicious of her identity and had no mind for conversation, but Tao Chengxin said bluntly, "Really? Someone as beautiful as you, and no one gives you flowers?"
The White-Dressed Girl twirled the flower stem, "After my husband died, no one has ever given me this Golden Powder Purple again."
"Married so young." Tao Chengxin showed little sentimentality about death.
"Did you find what I wanted?" The White-Dressed Girl changed the subject.
"It's not convenient to talk here. Can we go to your place?" Sun Jirou interjected.
The White-Dressed Girl didn't say much but turned and led them back to the previous courtyard. When she opened the door, the entire courtyard of sunflowers turned around in unison again.
"Even a Doraemon's Anywhere Door isn't this convenient." Tao Chengxin muttered softly.
The White-Dressed Girl acted as if she didn't hear her and invited them in for tea.
However, the courtyard was different from during the day now.
Previously, behind a small patch of sunflowers was the house, but now this sunflower patch seemed magnified. They walked for quite a while before seeing a building, and inside wasn't a residence but just a greenhouse. Only after passing through the greenhouse did they see a two-story residential building.
The rocking chair they had seen before was still in the room, but the elderly man was gone.
After brewing tea, the White-Dressed Girl sat opposite Xu Huo, "Did you find my cat?"
