Players, Please Board the Train-Chapter 75: A Quick Decision in the Fog

Chapter 75

Eagle instinctively looked up, but immediately realized he had fallen for a trick. He raised both hands to block the air as a silver-gray metal shield appeared above his head!
"Boom!"
Under the force of gravity, the metal shield emitted a dull thud. Eagle stumbled backward from the impact, then immediately suffered several consecutive kicks. While holding the shield high, he drew a gem-encrusted longsword from his back. As he raised the sword, the ruby on its hilt emitted a dazzling light that illuminated the entire alley!
Seeing that his ambusher wore an impenetrable black mask that upon closer inspection had a disorienting effect, he averted his gaze and swung his sword forward in a slash!
"Zing!" A slender sound cut through the air. The residential building opposite him was sliced open from the fifth floor like a block of tofu. Though only a thin line appeared on the wall surface, all the internal steel reinforcements had been completely severed. The impact, comparable to a water jet cutter, penetrated straight through the entire building!
The smell of blood soon drifted from the windows—who knew how many people had been cut in half while sleeping.
Xu Huo, who had avoided this attack, hovered at the third-floor height, frowning at the crack in the wall.
He had just witnessed Eagle using the golden pipe to trap the Special Affairs Department personnel. That pipe was likely a single-use item that shattered and dissipated after use. He had come out to intercept on a gamble, never expecting Eagle would remain formidable even with gunshot wounds.
The ambush had failed—he had missed his only chance to kill this man. With so many items at his disposal, this opponent was likely a player from another district, probably of higher level than himself.
Just as he hesitated whether to take another gamble, Eagle suddenly turned and fled!
Xu Huo leaped down from the air, his running shoes stomping heavily on the ground twice, gaining a thirty percent speed boost as he instantly closed in on the injured man!
"Zing!" Eagle swung his sword again in a slash toward him. The sword light seemed to form a thin film in the air, sharp enough to cut through anything. Xu Huo sidestepped the attack but discovered this film's length exceeded the alley, extending outward to slice a nearby shop in half!
When it had cut through the residential building earlier, the sword's slash length only penetrated the structure, estimated at no more than twenty meters. But this time it had suddenly extended several times longer!
"Get lost!" Eagle shouted at him before charging toward the smoke-filled street district.
Dodging his continuous slashes, the two rushed into the fog one after the other.
The mist inside appeared less dense, allowing clear visibility. Xu Huo stepped onto the wall surface to flip past Eagle, launching a flying kick while controlling the piano wire to pull at the metal shield. With no frontal protection, this kick landed squarely on his nose bridge!
Eagle grunted in pain, staggering backward as he wildly swung his sword!
Xu Huo dodged swiftly. This time, the film-like plane narrowed and shortened, only cutting through a discarded wooden cabinet in the alley. The cabinet split apart with the sound, but the adjacent wall showed no trace of damage!
Glancing back at the sword in Eagle's hand, he successively kicked wooden cabinet fragments toward him. Two cabinet pieces flew close together, but the sword only cleaved through the first piece while the second was deflected by the metal shield!
"So that's how it works."
The longsword's attack range depended on the target's size. Whether large as a building or small as a brick, the first target struck during a slash determined its maximum range. Regardless of object size, it could only hit the first target remotely!
Understanding the ruby longsword's approximate attack range, Xu Huo began continuously kicking alley debris toward Eagle!
From large potted plants to small bricks and stones, each sword swing could only cut through one object. As more projectiles flew toward him, Eagle couldn't free his hands to swing frequently, forced to either parry with his sword or directly slice through with the blade.
"Hiding your head and concealing your tail—who are you? Why intercept me?" Eagle also realized his sword's method had been seen through. He stared at the figure opposite him: "Brother, Special Affairs Department personnel are nearby. You don't want to be discovered by them either. Whatever you want, just name it!"
Xu Huo's mask duration expired, gradually transforming from black to white, covering his face like a sheet of paper.
He didn't remove the mask. Even without the disorientation effect, it could still function as a ordinary mask. And this opponent lacked the ability to see through masks to identify features.
"Special Affairs Department?" Xu Huo glanced at the surrounding fog. The earlier commotion should have alerted Special Affairs Department players, yet none had appeared. Even nearby residents hadn't come out to investigate. This resembled the fog outside Hot Springs Villa—it seemed to block sight and sound.
"In that case, let's finish this quickly!" Shifting his right leg back, he suddenly accelerated forward!
Facing this speed head-on felt more oppressive than being chased from behind. Startled, Eagle dodged the final brick, stored his item, and completely vanished from sight!
Xu Huo's charging motion halted abruptly as he swiftly dodged onto an air conditioning unit on the wall, pulling out the lighter toward the empty alley.
The item "Arsonist's Tools" could only ignite clothing worn by people, requiring two conditions: no obstacles between the item and target, and the target needing to hear his words. He had never used it while completely unable to see the target before, but... his gaze fell on that shadow on the ground: "Burn!"
As the words left his mouth, flames inexplicably appeared in the air, flickering intermittently before settling on the ground.
Uncertain whether the invisibility trait could cover items, Xu Huo didn't recklessly approach but constantly adjusted his position, throwing everything he could get his hands on toward Eagle!
The sound of pitter-patter continued incessantly until Eagle, unable to bear the harassment, drew his longsword to slash at him!
Seizing this opportunity, Xu Huo charged forward, kicking with full force to break Eagle's right arm. The longsword clattered to the ground as he precisely grasped the man's throat, using piano wire to hoist him up and pull him at full speed toward high altitude!
Eagle's right hand was broken and unusable. His left hand pressed against his neck, fingers spread wide to forcibly create a gap in the piano wire. Just as he was about to break free, a paper sheet blew over and covered his face. The rectangular paper's edge continuously wrapped around his head, instantly enveloping him completely airtight.
Eagle struggled briefly before suddenly bursting through the paper with his metal shield, tearing through both Painting Woman and the piano wire simultaneously.
Newly freed, Eagle leaped down from mid-air. The height above ground combined with his injuries caused him to land unsteadily. Painting Woman, having reformed into a sheet of paper, flew over to knock him down before Xu Huo raised the toy gun!
Seeing his own item in someone else's hands, Eagle felt both shock and silent curses toward Ma Yu's foolishness. But when he moved to block, the metal shield was suddenly yanked away!
He turned back, staring in astonishment at the paper painting that had suddenly transformed into a living person beside him: "A super item?!"
"You actually have a super item! Just who are you..."
As he spoke, he turned toward Xu Huo's direction, but was met with a massive burst of flames!
