Primordial Awakening: I Breathe Skill Points!-Chapter 27: Choosing Rewards!

Chapter 27

Chapter 27: Choosing Rewards!
Zeph stood in the unsealing chamber, his body shrinking back to its normal six-foot frame as the Soul Mark’s power drained away like water through a sieve.
Purple hair faded to black with silver streaks. Claws retracted into normal nails. The overwhelming strength that had let him shatter buildings with casual gestures simply... stopped.
The storage ring lay on the floor between him and the two wounded summoners, tantalizingly close and impossibly far.
Heat flooded the tunnel system. Marcus had entered the Bazaar.
The gaunt summoner, bleeding from his severed arm, smiled through the pain. "Out of time, anomaly. Out of power. Out of luck."
The chitinous one pulled himself upright, black beetles sealing the massive wound in his chest. "We’ll take the ring. You can die here."
Zeph’s expression remained perfectly calm despite the tactical nightmare his situation had become. His enhanced hearing tracked Marcus’s approach—maybe ninety seconds away. His soul-sense painted the two summoners’ positions with crystal clarity. And his mind was already calculating.
’No time to panic. Assess. Adapt. Execute.’
He pulled up his status window.
The notifications he’d dismissed during his frantic dungeon clear blazed across his vision:
```
[SYSTEM EVENT: DUNGEON BREAK PREVENTION - COMPLETED]
[Completion Status: SOLO CLEAR - ANOMALY CLASSIFICATION]
[Performance Rating: SSS]
[REWARDS DISTRIBUTED:]
[+23,000 EXP]
[Level 19 → Level 25]
[+120 ATTRIBUTE POINTS AVAILABLE!]
[+25,000 SKILL POINTS!]
[SELECT UNIQUE TITLE! (1/2)]
[SELECT UNIQUE TITLE! (2/2)]
[SELECT UNIQUE ACTIVE SKILL!]
[SELECT UNIQUE PASSIVE SKILL!]
```
One hundred and twenty unallocated attribute points. Two title slots. Two skill slots. Seventy thousand Skill Points!
Resources he’d completely forgotten about in the chaos of transformation and pursuit.
Resources that might be the difference between death and survival.
The gaunt summoner’s remaining arm began forming a blade of crystallized insect matter. "Any last words, anomaly?"
Zeph ’ignored’ him, his full attention on the selection screens materializing in his vision.
-----
[TITLE SELECTION - CHOOSE 2]
[The Inevitable]
- Effect: Once per day, survive one fatal attack with 1 HP remaining
- Special: Minor fear aura (enemies sense your inevitability)
[Sole Survivor]
- Effect: +30% all stats when fighting alone
- Drawback: -10% all stats when fighting with allies
[Crisis Warden]
- Effect: +20% all stats when facing extinction-level threats
- Special: Designate one location as Protected Zone
[Dungeon Breaker]
- Effect: +15% damage to dungeon entities
- Special: Sense dungeon instability within 1 mile
[Extinction’s Edge]
- Effect: +5% all stats per enemy (max 50%, 10 enemies)
- Special: Enemies recognize you as apex threat
-----
Zeph’s analytical mind processed the options with machine-like efficiency.
’Current situation: Two B-rank enemies, one S-rank incoming. Fighting alone. High chance of fatal damage.’
’The Inevitable = survival insurance against one-shot kills. Necessary.’
’Sole Survivor = thirty percent boost when alone. I’m always alone. This is mandatory.’
’Crisis Warden situational. Dungeon Breaker irrelevant. Extinction’s Edge caps too low.’
Two seconds of analysis. Decision made.
[SELECTIONS CONFIRMED: THE INEVITABLE + SOLE SURVIVOR]
-----
[ACTIVE SKILL SELECTION]
[CHOOSE ONE]
[Temporal Fracture - Rank B]
- Cost: All current MP + SP
- Effect: Freeze time for 3 seconds (you move at 50% speed)
- Cooldown: 7 days
[Calamity’s Descent - Rank B]
- Cost: 50% HP + 100 MP
- Effect: AOE devastation (30ft radius, 10 seconds)
- Cooldown: 24 hours
[Soul Rend - Rank B]
- Cost: 30 MP
- Effect: Soul damage bypassing physical defense
- Cooldown: 10 minutes
[Phase Shift - Rank C]
- Cost: 50 MP
- Effect: Become intangible for 5 seconds
- Cooldown: 1 hour
-----
’Need immediate tactical advantage. Calamity requires charging time—dead before I finish. Soul Rend uses INT/WIS—my dump stats. Phase Shift defensive but doesn’t solve the problem.’
’Temporal Fracture. Three seconds of frozen time. Enough to reposition, enough to strike, enough to WIN if I use it correctly.’
’Cost is everything I have, but I’m dead anyway if I don’t use it.’
[SELECTION CONFIRMED: TEMPORAL FRACTURE]
-----
[PASSIVE SKILL SELECTION]
[Adaptive Resilience - Rank C]
- Effect: Gain 5% resistance to damage types after being hit
- Cap: 100% resistance maximum
- Reset: Every 30 minutes
[Devourer’s Constitution - Rank C]
- Effect: Absorb 5% of damage as permanent VIT (max +10/day)
- Permanent scaling
[Death’s Defiance - Rank B]
- Effect: Survive fatal damage at 1 HP once per hour
- Cost: Permanently reduce max HP by 10% each activation
[Combat Evolution - Rank B]
- Effect: Permanently gain 1% of defeated enemy’s highest stat
- Cap: Maximum +5 stats per day
-----
’Devourer’s Constitution—long term scaling, useless NOW. Death’s Defiance—redundant with The Inevitable title. Combat Evolution—interesting but doesn’t help immediately.’
’Adaptive Resilience. Five percent per hit. One hundred percent cap. If I can survive the first few attacks, I become immune to their damage type entirely.’
’And I can upgrade it.’
Zeph’s eyes flicked to his Skill Point total: 70,000.
His knowledge of the System’s pricing structure flashed through his mind.
C-rank to B-rank: 10,000 SP
B-rank to A-rank: 25,000 SP
Total: 35,000 SP
He’d have thirty five thousand left over. More than enough margin for error.
[SELECTION CONFIRMED: ADAPTIVE RESILIENCE]
-----
The selections took four seconds total.
The gaunt summoner’s crystalline blade was half-formed, raised to strike.
The chitinous one was circling left, black beetles pooling at his feet for a coordinated assault.
Marcus’s heat signature was sixty seconds away.
Zeph activated the upgrades.
[PRIMORDIAL ARCHITECT ACTIVE]
[Upgrading: Adaptive Resilience C → B]
[Cost: 10,000 PP]
Pain lanced through his soul—not the catastrophic agony of the Soul Mark’s evolution, but sharp and focused, like heated needles being driven into his spiritual structure.
[Adaptive Resilience - Rank B]
- Effect: 10% resistance per hit, 100% cap
[Upgrading: Adaptive Resilience B → A]
[Cost: 25,000 PP]
The pain intensified. His knees nearly buckled, but he locked them through sheer will, refusing to show weakness.
[Adaptive Resilience - Rank A]
- Effect: 20% resistance per hit, 100% cap
- Duration: Adaptations last 1 hour
The skill settled into his soul structure with a sensation like armor sliding into place. Invisible, intangible, but undeniably present.
Five hits. That’s all he’d need to take to become completely immune to whatever damage type struck him.
’Now for the stats.’
He pulled up his attribute allocation screen.
```
[CURRENT STATS - LEVEL 25]
Strength: 18 (8 base + 10 from rune)
Agility: 10
Vitality: 124 (14 base + 100 from rune)
Intelligence: 3
Wisdom: 3
Charisma: 5
[UNALLOCATED POINTS: 120]
```
One hundred twenty points. Twenty levels worth of accumulated potential waiting to be used.
No time for balanced builds or careful optimization. He needed two things: hitting power and speed.
Everything else was luxury he couldn’t afford.
Zeph dumped sixty points into Strength. Sixty into Agility.
```
[STATS UPDATED]
Strength: 78
Agility: 70
Vitality: 124
Intelligence: 3
Wisdom: 3
Charisma: 5
```
Power flooded through his body—not the overwhelming tsunami of the Soul Mark transformation, but a steady, controlled enhancement that felt like his muscles were being rebuilt from the inside out. His reaction speed sharpened. His perception accelerated.
The [Sole Survivor] title activated immediately, recognizing he was fighting alone.
```
[SOLE SURVIVOR ACTIVE]
[+30% ALL STATS]
Strength: 101
Agility: 91
Vitality: 161
```
The gaunt summoner’s blade finished forming. "Die."
Whoosh!
He thrust forward with B-rank speed, the crystalline weapon aimed at Zeph’s heart.
