Raising Orphans, Not Assassins-Vol. 2 - Ch. 53 - I Execute This Traitor for the People!

Qiong Aohai was stunned.
He hadn’t yet recovered from the joy of advancing to the First Grade.
And then Murong Longyuan stabbed him in the chest.
“Pa! Pa! Pa!”
Murong Longyuan lightly tapped several acupoints on Qiong Aohai’s body.
The bleeding from his chest stopped.
Next, Murong Longyuan sealed several other points that regulated Qiong Aohai’s internal energy.
Once done, he turned and looked toward Zhang Maoxiang’s direction, ignoring Qiong Aohai.
Qiong Aohai stood still, a short spear sticking out of his chest, his expression blank.
Not far away, at the porridge shed...
Every time Sun Sheng got close to Zhang Maoxiang, that long spear followed like a venomous snake.
Despite several attempts, he hadn’t managed to injure Zhang Maoxiang.
Sun Sheng tried to trade injury for injury, but the spear wielder had seen through his intent.
The female constable wielding the spear was highly skilled — every thrust blocked Sun Sheng precisely where it mattered most.
If Sun Sheng persisted, not only would he fail to harm Zhang Maoxiang, he’d suffer serious injuries and lose his final chance.
Under such pressure, Sun Sheng could only grit his teeth, constantly weaving through the crowd while avoiding the spear and looking for an opening.
Murong Longyuan saw that his disciple, Hong Ying, couldn’t handle Sun Sheng.
He sighed and stepped forward to end the matter himself.
But then he suddenly looked down.
A flash of surprise appeared in his eyes.
He saw Qiong Aohai collapsed on the ground, hunched over, blood dripping down the iron spear embedded in his chest.
Qiong Aohai knelt with one knee, tightly clutching Murong Longyuan’s ankle with both hands.
His face was pale, sweat pouring down his forehead.
The injury caused by Murong Longyuan's spear was severe.
“Senior…” Qiong Aohai’s voice was faint but firm. “Zhang Maoxiang is with the Demonic Sect…”
“He must die…”
“Only his death can save the people along the river…”
Murong Longyuan halted his steps, silent.
He raised his head and looked at Sun Sheng still chasing Zhang Maoxiang.
Murong Longyuan’s eyes were deep and expressionless.
Drizzle fell from the sky, swept sideways by the wind, striking his face.
He stood like a stone statue.
Sensing that Murong Longyuan had stopped, a trace of relief appeared on Qiong Aohai’s pale face.
“Thank you… Senior…”
On the other side.
Sun Sheng weaved through the crowd while soldiers protected Zhang Maoxiang as he fled toward the city gate.
Hong Ying's long spear moved sharply — thrusting, blocking, sweeping — as if alive in her hands.
Once again, Sun Sheng closed in on Zhang Maoxiang.
Out the corner of his eye, he saw a group of Six Gates constables in black uniforms appear at the city gate.
Sun Sheng frowned.
If this dragged on, he might not be able to kill that corrupt official!
Suddenly, he grabbed a soldier, surged internal energy, and with a single-arm swing—
Whoosh!
Sun Sheng hurled the soldier at Zhang Maoxiang.
Zhang Maoxiang couldn’t dodge in time, shrieked, and was knocked to the ground.
Sun Sheng leapt, spanning more than three meters.
His uninjured left palm struck toward Zhang Maoxiang’s face.
Hong Ying’s expression remained composed. She followed swiftly, callused hands twisting the spear.
She unleashed a piercing thrust — the tip flashing with cold light like an arrow loosed from a bowstring.
A powerful move — fast as thunder, fierce and deadly.
The spear point aimed directly at Sun Sheng’s heart.
If he didn’t dodge, he’d die instantly!
In a blink, the tip was inches from his chest.
At that critical moment, Sun Sheng twisted his body and lunged straight toward the spear.
Pfft!
The spear stabbed two inches below Sun Sheng’s heart.
Hong Ying’s face revealed shock.
Why didn’t he dodge?
Sun Sheng suddenly grabbed the spear with his right hand.
His left palm reversed course mid-air, chopping down on the waxwood shaft.
Crack!
The spear broke.
Sun Sheng’s pale, handsome face showed a cold smile.
He glanced sideways at the stunned female constable holding the broken spear.
Taking a deep breath, he surged forward.
He gathered all his strength into his left palm. His internal energy, like a hundred waves, resonated in unison!
At this moment, Sun Sheng was unstoppable — ready to trade his life to complete his mission.
From his dantian came the roaring sound of crashing waves.
Zhang Maoxiang had just been helped up.
Seeing Sun Sheng charging again, he shrieked in terror.
“Stop him! Stop him now!”
Zhang Maoxiang pulled a soldier in front of himself as a human shield.
Sun Sheng saw it and sneered.
His eyes flashed like stars. He shouted:
“I execute this traitor for the people!”
In the next instant—
A tidal roar shook the sky.
Everyone on site heard what sounded like a tsunami.
Sun Sheng struck the blocking soldier with all his might.
The man trembled and died on the spot.
Behind him, Zhang Maoxiang’s eyes lit up with hope.
But before it could settle, a wave of agony hit his chest. His organs felt crushed.
Pfft!
Zhang Maoxiang coughed up blood, vision going dark.
He collapsed beside the dead soldier.
Dead on the spot.
Sun Sheng had used up all his strength with that final strike.
His body swayed, nearly collapsing.
He quickly took a breath, barely able to remain standing.
He stumbled to Zhang Maoxiang’s corpse and stepped on his face.
Ptooey!
He spat on him and rasped, “You damned corrupt official…”
Under the gray drizzle from the sky…
Raindrops fell on Sun Sheng’s pale, handsome face.
He looked exhausted, but his eyes were still dazzling like stars.
He glanced around, then suddenly burst into joyful laughter.
“Hahahahahaha…”
At that moment, the world seemed to fall silent.
Soldiers, refugees, even Six Gates constables stood frozen.
Only Sun Sheng’s laughter echoed across the earth.
Hong Ying, still holding the broken spear, stared in a daze at Sun Sheng — standing atop Zhang Maoxiang’s corpse.
His elegant face wet with rain, laughing freely.
A strange, irresistible charisma emanated from him.
Qiong Aohai heard the laughter and smiled faintly.
He released Murong Longyuan’s ankle and collapsed sideways to the ground.
Qiong Aohai gazed at the dim sky, letting the rain wash his face.
“Hahahaha…”
He couldn’t help but laugh quietly too.
The true hero… fights for the country and the people!
Murong Longyuan pressed his lips together, reaching for his lower back on instinct.
His hand came up empty — then he remembered his pipe was still on the city wall.
He withdrew his hand and sighed softly.
He, too, lifted his head to the gloomy sky — eyes full of fatigue.
Soon after—
Six Gates constables rushed forward, carrying hooked iron chains.
Pfft!
Pfft!
Two crisp sounds.
Chains pierced the clavicles of both Sun Sheng and Qiong Aohai.
No matter how strong they were, they couldn’t escape now.
Besides, both were seriously wounded.
Surrounding them, the constables finally let out a breath of relief.
Murong Longyuan retrieved his pipe at last.
Holding it silently, he remained expressionless.
