"What is it?"
Hontas's pause had been long enough to draw curiosity.
"Trouble."
"We should check it out," I dumbly said, making the woman shake her head.
Echo!!
In an instant, my sight stretched for dozens of meters, the world below revealed to me, what Hontas described as trouble, laid out on a platter.
In the 3D image in my head, over fifty meters behind us, to our left, within a large energy bubble underground, were Ninja Momma and the lanky male she had begun hanging around with.
He was dead, a blessing to my eyes and the dark-haired female was on her last legs.
I paid attention to the identity of the woman who had gotten the secret agent in such a position, recognizing her to be the same female Ninja Momma had shown me in a picture this morning.
"She found her quick," I thought.
"Now, why should I save her?" I scratched my chin.
Truth is, though I didn't have a certified answer for this question, my mind was made up that I was going to save Isolde.
It was a sentimental thing; as long as my interests were not being harmed, I saw no reason to let her die.
The only reason I wasn't already on the move was because of the blue head beside me.
Remember, Hontas wasn't just some mysterious priestess for the god Varune she also served Mr. God.
"Or maybe Varune is Mr. God," I thought, this idea not making sense.
It made more sense for the existence of a Varune to be a scam Hontas's role as his priestess a cover-up for the woman's activities, especially her connections.
I wasn't sure how close their connection was, but Hontas had access to Mr. God, and that was why I had stuck with her, playing the role of a pervert who had gotten bewitched by her.
All this while, I strived to hide my capability and advanced knowledge about the priestess from her, but Isolde's current situation put me between a rock and a hard place.
"What if it's Isolde?"
Hontas looked at me, slightly confused.
"You mean back there?"
"Yes."
"Then she's dead."
I was taken aback by Hontas's words — the surety in them spiking my worry.
"We can't just leave her."
"Forget about her. She put herself in some serious trouble. It's not worth the trouble helping her."
"There will be questions when we get back to America. The last thing we want is the government targeting us."
"They won't catch us."
"What about my billions? Is securing it not worth the hassle?"
Remembering that my value exceeded just my acts in bed, the priestess became conflicted.
"I hope you're not attracted to her because you're mine."
"Of course not, mistress," I said with a smile, relieved to see the carpet begin turning.
Speeding through the air, it didn't take us long to arrive above Ninja Momma's position.
"Stay here. I'll go down and investigate, check if Isolde is here, and save her if I can."
Hontas's last words were said with the smallest of reluctance, and then she jumped off.
Looking over the edge, I squinted my eyes as I watched the woman's body descend through the air.
She still had some ways to go when a blast echoed through the air, and I found her form on the ground.
"These days, everyone is just so extraordinary."
Echo!!
Floating several meters above ground, I followed the priestess's movement.
Where Isolde had gotten herself trapped was in the basement of a school building.
Hontas wasted no time navigating her way to the basement, but not even up to a minute later, I found myself sighing and jumping down.
In a surprising turn of events, the carpet also glided down, looking to save me. It swooped underneath my form and lifted me back into the air, but I jumped off once more.
The carpet didn't give up, and for the next few seconds, I had to fight my way to the ground, pushing myself off it whenever it tried to save me.
My landing, while soft, was disorganized, but having no time to lose, I quickly made my way to the basement.
"Marcus, what are you doing down here?" Hontas said as I opened a door and came face to face with her.
I ignored the woman and focused on the bubble behind her. With mind vision, all I had sensed was energy, but now before it, I could observe its grotesque nature.
The circumference of the barrier which trapped Isolde, pressed against the sides of the wall, its ends hidden from my eyes, and its surface oily and full of bumps, it was like I was staring at a sickly tummy.
I had managed to talk Hontas into saving Isolde, but it seemed I had underestimated the strength of the barrier.
Hontas, on arriving, had immediately released a palm strike on the skin-like surface of the barrier, her black gloves lighting up in a dark blue light. Turns out they weren't just for show.
A surge of power was released in that strike from the gloves, but other than Hontas being pushed back from the impact of her attack, the barrier gave off no reaction.
The priestess launched three more palm strikes, releasing more power with each attack, all to no avail, and when she paused to study the structure in front of her, I knew I needed to take action.
The barrier did not have nature energy imbued in its working, so it was either Hontas could truly not see the goings-on within, or she did not care for Isolde's life much.
From the air, I had already seen Ninja Momma collapse, her opponent landing another attack that vanquished her steam.
Arriving in the room, I did not have time to chatter with Hontas.
Still a few steps from the grotesque structure, I had Spell Breaker appear in my hand, and immediately raised it and began firing.
Bang!!
Bang!!
Bang!!
What Hontas couldn't do with all her attacks, with a single shot, I had the barrier trembling, its movement looking like a belly being punched.
Hontas, for all her self-control, could not stop her eyes from widening, her lips parting, and then the next shot followed.
