Chapter 176: Samantha told Sarah about her pregnancy
Beauty took the pregnancy test from her hands.
Though she’d never seen one before in her life, it didn’t appear to be fake.
Could she really be pregnant?
Her heart ached for Sarah, boiling with such fury that she wished she could drag that scumbag Drake out right now and give him the beating he deserved to vent their shared hatred.
Despite believing the in her heart, she refused to concede verbally.
Shoving the document forcefully back into her bag, she lifted her chin with a mocking smirk.
"Even if this pregnancy test is real, who’s to say the child is Drake?
Can you prove it’s Drake heir?" The words made Samantha flush crimson, left speechless.
Her hands clenched the bag strap tightly as her entire body trembled violently.
When Samantha stepped forward to grab her arm, Beauty dodged swiftly.
"You... you lunatic!
What are you trying to pull?" Beauty’s almond eyes widened as she immediately pulled Sarah behind her protectively.
"Planning to fake a fall and blame us for your miscarriage, is that it?"
Having recently binge-watched some palace intrigue dramas during her recovery, she knew exactly how these schemes worked.
Countless women had faked accidents to frame others—she wasn’t about to fall for such an obvious trap.
"Too much TV rots your brain, Beauty!" Samantha spat.
"Do you really think I’d risk my baby with Drake? Once I deliver this child, I’ll be the young madam of Drake family.
Some women are destined to remain side chicks forever—isn’t that right, Sarah?"
Sarah responded with an icy laugh, suddenly striding forward.
Her piercing gaze fixed on Samantha’s abdomen as she advanced slowly, fists clenched so tightly her knuckles turned white, eyes burning with intensity as if trying to see through the other woman’s womb.
Samantha paled instantly, scrambling backward until her back hit the wall.
A protective hand flew to her belly as her pupils dilated in terror.
"Sarah," she stammered, voice trembling, "what are you doing?
You wouldn’t... you wouldn’t really make me lose the baby, would you?
You heartless witch!
If you dare lay a finger on me or my child, Drake will make your life a living hell—just you wait!"
But Sarah continued advancing relentlessly, ignoring the threats.
The scene grew so tense it drained the color from Beauty’s face as well.
Seeing the pent-up resentment in her about to explode, she immediately grabbed her arm.
"Sarah, it’s not worth it for a woman like this," she whispered urgently.
"And the baby—" "I won’t harm her child," Sarah cut her off sharply.
"I just want to warn her—don’t push your luck.
What goes around comes around, and one day, karma will catch up to you and your family.
It’s only a matter of time!"
Before Beauty could finish, Sarah yanked Samantha’s arm, delivering her words with icy precision.
Samantha broke into a cold sweat, her face paling.
Sarah had lost it—wild-eyed, unhinged—and the sight sent a chill down Samantha’s spine.
Beauty clutched her phone tightly.
The moment Samantha walked in, she knew trouble was brewing.
Sarah was no match for her, so she had discreetly sent a text to Lucas from behind, timing it just right.
He should be arriving any minute now.
Cornered by Sarah’s relentless advance, Samantha stumbled back, too stunned to speak, her hands instinctively shielding her belly.
*Slap!* A sharp crack echoed as Samantha struck Sarah across the face.
The sudden blow left Sarah reeling, her cheek burning.
"Don’t push me!" Sarah hissed, eyes flashing with defiance.
"Just because you’re carrying Drake’s child doesn’t mean I won’t hit back.
Cross me, and I swear I’ll make you regret it.
I’ve got nothing left to lose—what do I care anymore?"
With that, she seized Samantha’s hair and slapped her twice, hard enough to make her head spin.
"I don’t start fights," Sarah spat through gritted teeth, her face flushed, hand still raised.
"But if you come at me, I’ll give you hell.
Push me too far, and I’ll make sure you pay—every last bit of it."
"What are you doing, Sarah?" Two figures suddenly burst into the room just in time to see Sarah cornering Samantha against the wall, her hand frozen mid-air before delivering another strike.
Samantha’s face bore two vivid red slap marks, her eyes brimming with tears, a thin trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her lips.
It was clear Sarah had put every ounce of her strength into those blows—so much so that she swayed unsteadily before collapsing to the floor.
Drake strode past her without a glance, pulling Samantha into his arms instead.
Cradling her flushed face in his hands, he growled in a low voice, "What were you thinking, provoking her like this?
Don’t you know how much Sarah despises your family?"
At the sight of Drake, Samantha’s tears spilled over instantly.
She wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in the crook of his neck.
"Drake, I didn’t mean any harm," she whimpered, her voice trembling with feigned innocence.
"I just heard Sarah was planning to sell this house, so I wanted to buy it for her.
Isn’t that a good thing?"
Her tear-filled eyes gazed up at him, radiating exaggerated hurt.
Meanwhile, Lucas grabbed Beauty’s arm, his sharp eyes scanning her from head to toe.
"Beauty, are you okay?"
"I’m fine," she snapped, lifting her chin defiantly.
"But Sarah isn’t. She was slapped out of nowhere.
How are we settling this?"
Her blazing glare locked onto Drake as she spat out each word with deliberate fury.
The moment he heard Sarah had been struck, Drake’s face twisted in distress.
His cold gaze shifted to Samantha in his arms.
"Did you hit Sarah?" he demanded, his voice icy.
Sensing the murderous aura emanating from Drake, Samantha in his arms trembled involuntarily.
She forced out two crystal-clear tears, her voice quivering: "She was the one who cursed our child first, saying karma would strike us.
You know how emotional I’ve been since getting pregnant—I’m extra sensitive about anything involving the baby. I didn’t mean to hit her!
Besides, she slapped me twice across the face!
Drake... my stomach feels strange... do you think our baby might be..." Now that she carried his child, she finally had leverage over Drake.
After all, he still didn’t know her previous abortion story had been a complete fabrication.
That’s why he treasured this pregnancy so dearly.
Holding this trump card, she had him wrapped around her finger. His sword-like eyebrows knitted together as his gaze fleetingly rested on Sarah’s slightly flushed cheeks—just for two seconds.
Complex emotions flickered in his eyes before he turned toward Lucas with an icy command: "Take good care of her."
Then he swept out with Samantha in his arms, leaving behind nothing but a retreating silhouette.
