In summary Kingsguard 1 is significantly more important/powerful (in some cases) than Kingsguard 2, and so on.
The only rule for a Kingsguard to rank up (for example: Kingsguard 6 wants to be Kingsguard 5) is simple:
There shall be a blood duel in the Valhalla arena with Ranks being wagered.
Kingsguard 1 - Karna.
Kingsguard 2 - Achilles.
Kingsguard 3 - Yamato.
Kingsguard 4 - Igris.
Kingsguard 5 - Ihbanna.
Kingsguard 6 - Horatius Cocles.
