Regression - Second Chance At Life-Chapter 184: The Parcel Has Arrived

Chapter 184

Chapter 184: The Parcel Has Arrived
Zydan feels his lungs burning as he is all out of breath, even though he managed to defeat Adam over and over again; every time it got harder and harder.
The last two spars before the final spar ended in a draw with no points being scored, and then Adam finally got one over Zydan, which came as a surprise to both him and Crill.
The score is 20-2. If it were an official match, Adam would have lost very convincingly, a Technical Fall, as Zydan would have had a 15-point lead over Adam, but this is not an official match, and their spar continued.
Zydan just didn’t expect that after failing so many times, Adam keeps asking for more, and more, and more, and now Zydan finds himself on his back as Adam gets a takedown on him.
Sure, he is extremely exhausted, all the muscles in his body are burning with fatigue, but he shouldn’t be losing even a single round, especially against someone who hasn’t once been on an official wrestling mat.
And what’s with Adam still looking as fresh as a daisy? He is not breathing heavily, nor has his strength faded.
"I am done," Zydan says as he rolls away and lies down on the canvas, breathing heavily and sweating profusely.
Adam gets back to his feet and stretches his arms while looking down at Zydan. He knew that Zydan was much stronger than Crill the moment he met them.
And now that he has sparred both of them, his intuition turned out to be true. Adam managed to defeat Crill quite fast, but the same couldn’t be said for Zydan, as he was a champion wrestler before he started doing MMA.
"Do you take gear?" Crill suddenly asks as he steps up to Adam.
"No, I don’t," Adam answers. "I don’t know if I believe you," He says, still being very doubtful.
"I don’t know what to say to make you believe me, but I really don’t," Adam says back.
"Hmmm." Crill folds his arms and looks at Adam. "Then how are you still standing, breathing completely normal as if you didn’t just wrestle Zydan the past twenty minutes?" Crill
"Well, I have a lot of endurance," Adam says cheekily.
"That you sure do.... Well, anyway, with what I saw, you are more than ready for your upcoming debut; you are going to crush it," Crill says cheerfully.
"Thank you," Adam replies. By the time they are done talking, Zydan gets back to his feet now that he has overcome his fatigue.
He looks at Adam and extends his hand, "You are good," he says. Adam looks at his hand and shakes it with a smile.
"Look at this, my eyes are about to tear up," Crill says, fake wiping the tears off his eyes.
Zydan rarely speaks to anyone, let alone praises someone. After sparring it out with Adam, Zydan is beyond impressed. He has never seen someone improve so fast within a matter of minutes.
Zydan learned that he couldn’t use the same technique twice on Adam because he figured out how to counter them after the first attempt.
Luckily, Zydan had years of experience and knowledge to fall back on to get an edge over Adam, but that edge soon started fading the more they wrestled.
"So what are you doing tonight? Wanna hang out?" Crill asks. In his mind, Adam is already a friend, and seeing that Zydan approves of Adam, he thought about inviting Adam to join them.
"I would love to, but I have a prior engagement tonight. I am going to this music concert with my friend tonight," Adam says.
"Music concert? The one taking place at Summerfield Park?" Crill asks.
"Ya, that one," Adam confirms.
"Great, we are heading there as well. Zydan’s wife is a huge fan of the band that’s going to close tonight," Crill says.
Adam looks at Zydan, surprised. He didn’t expect Zydan to be married.
Zydan doesn’t say anything. He has a poker face on right now.
"Sure, let’s meet there," Adam says.
After talking to the boys for a few more minutes, Adam looks around and finds the gym still empty. There is no sign of Rangsan or Lamai anywhere.
"Why are the coaches still not here?" Adam wonders out loud.
"Don’t know, they were here when we got here. Something really important must have come up," Crill says.
"Well, anyway, I will take my leave then. I think I have had enough training for the day," Adam says.
"See you tonight," Crill says. Adam nods and leaves them.
He takes another shower in the gym’s locker room, puts on his clothes, and leaves.
As he walks out of the gym and heads towards his car, he notices a few familiar faces across the street.
Inside, what looks to be a simple noodle restaurant, he sees both Rangsan and Lamai sitting by the window, talking to two people. One young and one old. Adam recognizes the younger guy, it is none other than the guy Adam came face-to-face with when he just started going to the gym.
’From the looks of it, they don’t seem to be enjoying the conversation,’ Adam thinks as he looks at the old man talking to Rangsan. He is tall and is wearing an old-fashioned, robe-like cloth. He has this air of superiority and arrogance that few people have, and it comes from being better and knowing they are actually better than everyone else.
As for the young guy, the one Adam faced off against before, he is just sitting there, leaning back with a smug smile on his face.
His eyes have been on Lamai the entire time, eying her like some piece of meat.
Lamai is also glaring back at the guy, but her eyes are burning with seething fury.
’Should I go in and check on them? See what’s going on?’ Adam wonders when he suddenly sees Lamai stand up and slam her hand on the desk, and start yelling at the old man because he said something that might have really offended her.
But Rangsan grabbed her and forced her to sit down
’I should probably stay out of whatever that is,’ Adam thinks, and gets in his car.
’Even though he is interested in Lamai, he is not going to get involved in something he doesn’t understand and has no idea about, just because the girl he finds attractive looks to be in distress.
Adam has multiple good-looking women in his life right now; Lamai being there or not being there won’t matter one bit.
He starts his engine and drives off.
_____________________
About an hour later, he is back home and finds the driveway empty. Julia’s not home.
Adam walks in and finds the place eerily quiet. He sees a large parcel in the foyer. He guesses what it could probably be, he looks at the name, and it’s for him.
Before taking it upstairs with him, he looks around the mansion and finds it empty, even Xu Lin’s not home; she probably went out to shop for groceries.
He goes back to the foyer, throws the large parcel over his shoulder with ease, and carries it up to his bedroom. Putting the large parcel down, he grabs a box cutter and opens the parcel to find his super expensive piano keyboard set inside.
Adam smiles and takes out the keyboard from the box, along with its accessories. It even comes with a stand.
He sets it up within a few minutes before marveling at his new purchase. Some expensive things do look a lot more premium, and this keyboard is one of them.
The chaise is made from grade 5 titanium, and since it’s an electric keyboard, it can make a lot of sounds other than just simple piano notes.
Now that he has his setup ready, he decides to give it a go.
’Let’s start with something simple,’ Adam thinks, and recalls all the videos he binged watched from the lessons. Since he has perfect recall, he remembers all of it.
His fingers press on the keys, and they make a sound.
His first attempt, very rough. It sounded like a complete amateur who was just pressing random keys. Well, Adam is not even an amateur, so that’s a good start.
Adam smiles even though he failed, because he realized he just needs to get his muscles familiar with the keys and their layout. Once he does that, he can play it blind.
So he starts off by pressing one key at a time, getting himself familiar with all the notes and which key makes that sound.
Because of his perfect recall, it doesn’t take him much time at all. Next uses both hands and starts pressing random keys to see how he can efficiently assign each of his fingers to play a certain set of keys so that he can play faster and with more accuracy.
It was just like MMA. First, he learned the basics, applied it, made his muscles familiar with it, and before you know it, his hands knew just where to move and which finger needed to press that certain key to make that certain sound.
Adam himself was surprised by how quickly he managed to get himself familiar with the layout of the keyboard and what note each and every key plays when pressed.
People need a lot of time to do so, but his perfect recall and fast muscle memorization made it look extremely easy.
If the woman whose course that Adam bought saw this, she would lose her mind.
