Reincarnated as an SSS-Ranked Blacksmith Who Refuses to Forge Weapons-Chapter 107. Everyone Becomes a Worried Parent

Chapter 107

Chapter 107: 107. Everyone Becomes a Worried Parent
Marina started to laugh. "Oh my god... Oh my GOD, Greg!"
"You’re acting like a worried parent."
"I’m being responsible because I care about Elwen’s health!" Greg said this while still feeling concerned about the elf. "When was the last time you had a drink of water?"
"It’s important to drink enough water! Give her some water! And maybe some soup! Does anyone have any soup?!"
"I have soup at the restaurant," Lylia said slowly, her eyes fixed on the scene. "But Greg, you’re acting very strange all of a sudden."
"I’m not acting strange! I’m worried for the right reasons! Elwen works too hard! She needs to rest! Eat! And have some water!"
"Why isn’t anyone else worried about this?"
Seraphine was writing notes so quickly that her hand was a blur. "Interesting. The gloves transferred love through touch, which made the target feel very protective of the person wearing them. The amount of worry seems too high for any real danger."
Elwen said, "I’m taking the gloves off," looking very upset.
"Don’t take them off! Your hands were cold!" Greg said. "We’ll figure out the other thing later!"
"You should be warm and safe right now. Have you thought about getting a helmet? Head injuries are very bad!"
Elwen ripped the gloves off and threw them at Marina, who was still laughing so hard that it was difficult for her to breathe. Greg blinked and shook his head like he was waking up from a trance as soon as Elwen took off the gloves.
"What the fuck... just happened?" he asked while holding his head.
"You became a worried parent," Marina said with a wheeze. "You wanted to make Elwen a coat fort."
Greg’s face turned red. "I fucking didn’t!"
"Yes, you did," Bork said. "It was the best thing I’ve seen all week. I even saw the tax collector at Swan Lake in the market square."
Seraphine said, "Seems like the effect of that glove has something to do with parental instincts."
"It looks like the gloves make anyone who touches them feel very protective, almost like a parent, toward the person wearing them. The intensity seems very high."
"God fucking dammit! I can’t make anything I wanted when it’s this peaceful!" Greg protested, "I’ll never make winter accessories again."
"Can I give it a shot?" Mira asked, coming over with her usual excitement. She had taken on a physical form today and looked excited about the new chaos that was about to happen.
"No way," Greg said.
"Please? I want to see what happens!"
"Nothing good is going to happen, Mira."
"But Master-forger-darling, I’m a spirit! It might have different effects on me!"
Before anyone could stop her, Mira put on the gloves and reached out to touch Felix, who had gotten too close to see what was going on. Felix stopped in his tracks. Then his face changed to one of pure horror mixed with worry for her safety.
Felix said, "Mira," in a way that made it sound like he was going to give her a lecture about how to stay safe around fire. "What are you doing outside the workshop? It’s not safe out there! There are monsters! And thieves! And bad weather! You could get hurt!"
Mira said, "Felix, we’re in the workshop."
"Even the workshop is risky! There are sharp tools all over the place! And the forge is very hot! You might get burned! We need to find a safe place for you! Like a box! A box with padding and with holes for air!"
Mira laughed and said, "I don’t need air holes... I’m a spirit!"
"THAT’S EVEN WORSE! You could disappear! Or get stuck in something! Or... or..." Felix was starting to look petrified. "Why isn’t anyone else concerned about this? Mira is very important and must be kept safe at all costs!"
Greg said, "Take off the gloves, Mira..."
"But they’re warm!" Mira objected.
"TAKE OFF THE GLOVES!"
Mira took off the gloves while still laughing. Felix immediately slumped, looking confused and ashamed.
"Did I just try to put Mira in a box?" he asked.
"Yes," several people said.
Felix grumbled, "I hate magical things."
Donetta, who had been watching this whole thing with her usual calm smile, walked over and picked up the gloves. "Now it’s my turn."
Greg said, "Donetta, no."
"Donetta, yes," she said sweetly as she put on the gloves.
Before anyone could say anything, she quickly reached out and touched everyone in the workshop. She touched Greg, Marina, Lylia, Seraphine, Elwen, Bork, Felix, and even Mira’s spirit form.
The effect was immediate and terrible. Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at Donetta with worried looks on their faces.
"Donetta," Greg said, his voice full of worry, "when was the last time you had a full medical checkup? We should have you examined by a doctor immediately! Right away!"
Marina said, "You look tired. Have you been getting enough sleep? You need at least nine hours. Maybe ten of sleep!"
"Let’s make you a bed. A bed that is very, very comfortable and has about twenty pillows."
"Are you getting enough to eat?" Lylia was worried. "I’ll cook you a seven-course meal right now. With more vegetables. And a lot of protein!"
Seraphine said, "The humidity in the workshop could be bad for your lungs," as she took out measuring tools. "We need to improve the air quality right away."
Bork started to check the floor where Donetta was standing to see if it was strong enough. "This wood might not be very strong. We need to change all of the floorboards so that Donetta can’t fall through the floor."
Elwen was already drawing up plans for what looked like a dome to protect people. "We could make a safe place with walls that are very thick to keep all the bad things away!"
Felix was literally wringing his hands. "What if she gets sick?! Or a high temperature?! Do we have any medicine?! We need all the kinds of medicine that are out there."
Mira was circling Donetta and humming in a worried way. Donetta smiled even more when she saw how scared everyone else was. "This is fun, I love it!"
"Don’t talk too much!" Marina said. "You might hurt your voice! Give your vocal cords some rest! In fact, rest everything! Just relax!"
"Should we put a bed right here for her?" Bork asked in a serious tone. "So she doesn’t have to go anywhere?"
"Yes!" everyone said at the same time.
Greg, even though he was wearing gloves, was still smart enough to know that this was getting out of hand. "Donetta, take off your gloves. Please. This is getting strange."
"But everyone is being so nice," Donetta said.
"TAKE OFF THE GLOVES BEFORE SOMEONE MAKES YOU A SHRINE!"
Donetta took off her gloves, still smiling. As soon as they left her hands, everyone blinked and looked around in confusion.
