Sequence Highway Survival: I Upgrade Supplies in the Apocalypse-Chapter 167: Survivor Group

Chapter 167

"Captain Chu, Iron Lion can't wait much longer!"
Chen Ye didn't want to cause trouble - this city was clearly abnormal. If there were still living people here, he wouldn't believe everything was fine even if beaten to death.
"Sharpening the axe won't delay the work of cutting wood. If there are survivors here, we can ask them for information. Perhaps we can find a faster route out of the city!"
"Alright, you're the captain, you call the shots!"
Chen Ye shrugged, not intending to argue with Chu Che.
Maybe Chu Che had a point - having a few extra followers could be useful when encountering danger.
He identified the source of the sound.
It didn't seem far.
The vehicle stopped on the spot. Chen Ye got out, gripping his machete's handle, a cigarette dangling from his lips, with smoke mist already swirling around him.
Chu Che also stepped out of the vehicle. As for Xiao Wang, he was completely unable to drive now and had been placed in the passenger seat to rest by Chu Che.
"The sound should be coming from here. Seems like it's from this barbershop."
Moving closer, they saw the shop's signboard that read "Aming Barbershop."
The glass door of the shop had clearly been shattered by external force, but the lock was still hanging on it.
"Save me... Is someone there? I... I'm on the second floor, save me..."
"I... I'll repay you!"
The "person" upstairs had obviously heard the vehicle's sound, making their voice sound more excited and urgent.
Chen Ye glanced at Chu Che, as if asking: "Captain, are you sure it's not an Anomaly?"
Chu Che naturally understood what Chen Ye meant.
He nodded affirmatively.
Pathfinders were extremely sensitive to Anomaly auras - either they couldn't sense the Anomaly's presence at all like before, or if they could sense it, distinguishing between human and Anomaly auras was quite simple.
Only then did Chen Ye feel slightly reassured. With a wave of his hand, smoke surged out, directly shattering the entire glass door without making any sound in the process.
This was a new application of Absolute Aura Concealment.
"Captain Chu, wait downstairs. I'll go check upstairs first!"
Chu Che had no objections to this, holding a lighter while vigilantly scanning the surroundings, his expression seeming to say: hurry back quickly.
Chen Ye didn't hesitate and strode upstairs.
This barbershop wasn't large - the first floor was only about thirty square meters, with the staircase located at the back of the shop.
After Chen Ye climbed the stairs to the second floor, even though there was still considerable smoke in the room, he immediately spotted a man wearing a mask lying in the corner.
"You... are you human or ghost?"
The man's voice sounded panicked.
"You asked me to come here, isn't it a bit late to ask that now?"
Chen Ye approached and finally got a clear look at the man's appearance. He was a man around forty years old.
He had a somewhat gaunt build and wore a mask over his face, with weathered eyes that showed much hardship.
In this apocalypse, Chen Ye hadn't seen a fat person in a long time - most people were quite thin.
During the apocalypse, gaining weight had become a difficult feat.
The man's legs were twisted unnaturally, clearly fractured, and his complexion was very pale. If Chen Ye and his group hadn't appeared here, the man probably wouldn't have lasted much longer.
"Just you alone?"
"I'm the only one here. We have more people at the convenience supermarket on Renmin Road ahead. Could you take me there? I'll repay you!"
After speaking, the man looked at Chen Ye with hopeful eyes.
"I'm not the one who decided to save you. As for where to take you, that's not for me to decide."
Chen Ye snapped his fingers lightly, and countless smoke tendrils swarmed toward the man, directly lifting him up while surrounding him.
The man's eyes showed surprise: "You... you're a Superhuman?"
"Superhuman? You know about Superhumans too?"
"Yes, we used to have Superhumans too."
After saying this, the man's expression darkened again.
Chen Ye didn't engage with the man further, directly using the smoke to carry him downstairs.
After bringing the man downstairs, he handed him over to Captain Chu Che.
As the captain, handling this kind of situation was something he excelled at.
Chu Che casually cast a Concealment Barrier.
Through Chu Che's questioning, Chen Ye also understood the situation.
This man belonged to a survivor group, their small group located in a convenience supermarket on Renmin Road ahead.
There were quite a few people in the supermarket - according to the man's account, there were seventeen people remaining in the supermarket.
Seventeen people?
This number startled Chen Ye.
After all, in the cities they had passed through before, except for Rong City district, almost all had become uninhabited zones.
It was almost impossible for any living people to exist.
Yet in Fog City, there were actually seventeen people.
This man had been injured after falling from a height while searching for supplies.
The reason he hid in this barbershop was simply because he had frequently visited it before and was very familiar with the place.
"Gentlemen, please take me to the convenience supermarket on Renmin Road ahead. Just take me there, and someone will receive you."
Chen Ye said directly: "We can take you there, but we need a guide for Fog City to help us leave quickly. Can you arrange that?"
The man nodded repeatedly: "No problem, I'll have someone serve as your guide. If my legs weren't injured, I could guide you myself without any issues. We're all locals of Fog City and very familiar with the area!"
The deal was struck.
Chu Che withdrew the Concealment Barrier, and the man looked at Chu Che with astonishment.
"You... you're also a Superhuman!"
Unconsciously, the man began showing considerable respect toward both Chen Ye and Chu Che.
Chen Ye placed the man in his passenger seat.
There was no other choice - Chu Che's vehicle was already full, with Old Bao lying across the back seat and Xiao Wang constantly coughing in the other passenger seat.
Seeing Xiao Wang's continuous coughing, the man's expression also changed slightly.
Following the man's directions, Chen Ye and Chu Che drove for only about ten minutes before reaching Renmin Road.
Actually, Chen Ye and Chu Che still had many questions to ask, but given the man's poor condition, they could only take him to their small base first before discussing further.
With someone familiar with the roads, their driving speed increased significantly.
It seemed that if things went as Chu Che had said, finding a familiar guide could indeed save considerable time.
The convenience supermarket appeared to be a medium-sized supermarket that didn't look very large, except that its rolling shutter was tightly closed. From outside the supermarket, one would never guess that it served as a survivor group's base.
"Is this the place?"
The man nodded, his voice coming from beneath the mask: "This is it. Just knock and someone will open it!"
Chen Ye got out directly and knocked on the rolling shutter, creating a clattering sound.
"Who is it?"
A pleasant female voice came from inside.
"It's me, Xiao Hua. I... I'm back!"
