Seventies Sweetheart: From Breakup to Billionaire-Chapter 288: Opening for Business

Chapter 288

Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Opening for Business
After explaining to Cheng Jinyun, Lin Xiang went to the East Gate.
The East Gate is the main entrance, with the most foot traffic, so naturally, Lin Xiang had to go herself.
"Hey there, Xingfu Restaurant is having its grand opening today! With the coupon on this flyer, you can enjoy a 10% discount. Are you sure you don’t want to come and give it a try?"
"Four meat dishes and six vegetarian dishes, you’re bound to find something you like. Big portions, great prices! A sure win if you come and taste it."
"Xingfu Restaurant..."
Lin Xiang didn’t use a megaphone because she said something different to each person.
"Lin Xiang?"
Suddenly, a familiar voice rang in her ear. Lin Xiang looked carefully and realized it was her roommates.
"Yueyue, Yanzi, Miao Miao, Xiao Yu, Yingying, are you all heading out?"
"What are you doing here?"
Zheng Miaoyue didn’t answer Lin Xiang’s question. She walked straight up and took a flyer from Lin Xiang’s arms.
"Xingfu Restaurant? Is it yours?"
Lin Xiang smiled shyly, "My mom opened it."
Zheng Miaoyue almost rolled her eyes to the sky.
She’d interacted with Mrs. Lin before. It was clear to her that Mrs. Lin didn’t seem like the type to open a restaurant on her own, so the real boss was certainly Lin Xiang.
But since Lin Xiang wasn’t willing to admit it, she didn’t break it down. She just waved the flyer in her hand and said to the other four roommates, "Considering we’re going out to eat anyway, why not try Lin Xiang’s new restaurant and support her a bit."
"Sure, sure." Wu Yan chuckled, "Since it’s Yueyue’s treat, we’ll go wherever you say."
Something’s wrong!
Lin Xiang stroked her smooth chin, grabbed Zheng Miaoyue’s arm with her other hand, and whispered, "What happened between the five of you that I don’t know about?"
Although Zheng Miaoyue was generous, the other roommates weren’t ones to take advantage. Since she offered to treat, and everyone readily accepted, there had to be something fishy.
She had only gone home for two days, how did she end up getting isolated like this?
Accompanied by Lin Xiang’s query, Zheng Miaoyue’s brows furrowed and then quickly relaxed: "I’ll tell you in detail when we get back to the dorm tonight. I might need your help."
"Alright." Lin Xiang immediately felt relieved, handing out a stack of flyers to each of them, "Help me hand these out, and I’ll treat you all to three days of meals. As for Yueyue’s turn, we’ll eat that when we’re back in the dorm. We’re a dorm family, we should all stick together."
Wu Yan and the others didn’t refuse.
It wasn’t out of greed for a free meal, but as Lin Xiang said, they were all roommates, so lending a hand was only natural.
With the help of Zheng Miaoyue and the others, the flyers were distributed quickly.
Lin Xiang checked the time, it was already past eleven.
"Let’s go, we’ll head to Xingfu Restaurant first. If we wait too long, we’ll probably have no place to sit."
"If you’re opening a restaurant, why not make it bigger?" Zheng Miaoyue said casually.
However, standing outside the four-story "small restaurant," Zheng Miaoyue wished she could take back what she’d just said.
How was this a small restaurant?
This restaurant was huge!
"You call this a small restaurant?"
Lin Xiang pressed down the hand Zheng Miaoyue was pointing with, "Currently, it’s only operating on a small restaurant scale, but after we figure things out and accumulate enough resources, we’ll expand, and then it will definitely not be called Xingfu Restaurant anymore."
Zheng Miaoyue pursed her lips and went inside with Lin Xiang.
Lin Xiang wasn’t lying; they had only arrived a bit later, and they indeed couldn’t find a single empty chair in the entire hall.
Mao Ying couldn’t help but exclaim, "The business is so good?"
Qian Miaomiao whispered, "With such nice decor at Xingfu Restaurant, having a meal here must be quite expensive?"
The gap between them and their roommate seemed to be growing wider.
Lin Xiang pointed to the blackboard at the entrance, "The pricing is clear, and under normal circumstances, a meal won’t be too expensive. Just head to the second floor; there’s a private room that’s not open to the public yet. I’ll bring the food up to you shortly."
Lin Xiang still needed to check out the kitchen.
She planned it so that by 11:40, right when everyone started arriving around lunchtime, she’d come over just after finishing the flyer distribution, timing it perfectly.
But she underestimated the foot traffic of Huaqing University and the curiosity college students had for new food.
"Hey there, little boss! You’re back!" Ren Doudou, busy in the kitchen, yelled at Lin Xiang, "I’ve already cooked a few dishes. You should come and taste them."
Actually, of the ten dishes, apart from the Mao Xue Wang, most had already been cooked.
Ren Doudou single-handedly made six dishes, while each of the other three ladies took charge of one.
Ren Doudou had never even heard of Mao Xue Wang before, and had no idea how to cook it.
But Mrs. Lin had learned how to make it from Lin Xiang when she sold fast food at construction sites, so she was now teaching Ren Doudou how to make it, and it was almost ready.
Nine custom-made large aluminum tubs were filled with dishes. Lin Xiang took a clean small bowl and tried a bit of each dish.
As a professional food blogger, just by tasting a bite of each of the nine dishes, she could accurately discern which six were made by Ren Doudou.
The taste was indeed good.
After the Mao Xue Wang was also put into a large aluminum tub, Xingfu Restaurant began its soft opening.
Lin Xiang’s pricing was based on a selection system.
Mao Xue Wang cost 0.8 yuan per serving, the other three meat dishes were 0.5 yuan each, the six vegetarian dishes were 0.3 yuan each, and rice was 0.2 yuan per person, with a free refill if you wanted more.
You could pick and choose whatever dishes you wanted.
The selected dishes were each filled to the brim in a bowl.
Some people wanted to try every dish, so Lin Xiang thoughtfully introduced meal deals.
Aside from the Mao Xue Wang, you could order a meat combo for 0.5 yuan a bowl, and a vegetarian combo for the same price.
This selection style was similar to a university cafeteria, but Xingfu Restaurant had the advantage of dishes right in front of you, allowing for personal selection and combos.
Lin Xiang and Mrs. Lin, along with the four helpers, were divided into three teams.
Mrs. Lin was in charge of serving meat dishes, one person for vegetarian dishes, and the other three were responsible for cleaning tables and washing dishes.
With the turnover rate at Xingfu Restaurant, the existing tableware was far from sufficient.
Lin Xiang took the role of handling the payments.
Of course, once she returned to her classes the next day, the task of collecting payments would fall to Mrs. Lin.
"Brother, could you help me send some food to the second floor? My roommates are all waiting up there."
They were busy for a full hour and a half without much of a break.
When the last customer was sent off, everyone, including Lin Xiang and Mrs. Lin, was too exhausted to get up from their seats.
Mrs. Lin looked at the empty big tubs, instantly perplexed.
"I’ve cooked everything we had in the freezer, and that was supposed to last a whole day!"
