Simulated Lives: The Sorrow of the Sword Maiden-Chapter 28 – Second simulation begins

Chapter 28

Despite knowing that her brother wasn't that kind of person, Xu Moli couldn't shake off the unease in her heart. He was the one who loved and cared for her the most. Yet, she feared such things, so she could only sneak out in the dead of night, when Xu Xi was deeply asleep, to touch him secretly.
"Good night, brother."
Resting her head on Xu Xi's chest, the girl bathed in the moonlight and slowly closed her eyes. She didn't sleep, just wanted to savor this tranquility as much as possible, to enjoy the precious moments of being with her brother after so long. She stayed like this, lying and resting on him, until the sun rose the next day, reluctantly fading away and disappearing into the air.
Before leaving, the girl, now grown into a stunning beauty, glanced at the transcendent item in the corner of the room, lightly furrowing her brows. For some reason, she suddenly had a bad feeling—not deadly or dangerous, but annoying. It was like the feeling she had as a child when peers tried to snatch her candy.
...
Half an hour later, the morning sun broke through the curtains, its brightness stark compared to the moonlight, waking Xu Xi from his sleep.
"Strange, why does my body feel so tired?"
Opening his eyes, Xu Xi noticed something was off. His entire upper body, especially his chest, felt inexplicably heavy, as if something had been pressing down on him all night. Could it be that even a Golden Core Cultivator like him could experience sleep paralysis?
Xu Xi was puzzled but didn't dwell on it, assuming it was just the aftereffects of overworking himself with alchemy.
"The priority now is to sell the pills."
After getting up and washing, he had a simple breakfast. Xu Xi quickly opened the Home of the Transcendent, skillfully listing the pills. It wasn't long before a regular customer bought them.
Xu Xi switched pages to the purchase section of the Magic Faction's transcendent items, selecting what he wanted to buy and adding them to his cart.
"Next, I need to make a trip to the Bureau of Transcendent Affairs," Xu Xi said, leaving his home.
The Withered Vine Sword expanded with the wind, carrying Xu Xi to the Bureau of Transcendent Affairs in Yanshan City. The Home of the Transcendent was very convenient; any transaction could be completed via phone or computer, but the actual distribution and receipt of items required a visit to the Bureau.
The Bureau had a dedicated transportation department responsible for the Home of the Transcendent's transactions. This was why Xu Xi saw so many people on his first visit there.
"Team up, team up! I'm a Grand Fighter from the Fantasy Faction, need support and tank!"
"New transcendent seeking a team, please, someone take me along!"
"Hahaha, my son has the bearing of an immortal, and he has three spiritual roots!"
The hall of the Bureau of Transcendent Affairs in Yanshan City was filled with various sounds, from transcendents calling for teams to ordinary people ecstatic about discovering their transcendent potential. Occasionally, there were even more novel sights to behold.
The fusion of transcendence and technology, the overlap of ancient and modern times—this was the Spiritual Energy Revival. This was the new era.
"Even though it's not my first time seeing it, it's always a new shock," Xu Xi mused, walking briskly into the Bureau amidst respectful greetings from others.
Trading, selling, confirming, and trading again. Repeating this process several times, from morning until noon, Xu Xi finally converted all his pills into the needed Magic Faction transcendent items and stored them in his storage ring.
He didn't want to waste a moment, flying home at full speed with sword flight.
He deposited all the Magic Faction transcendent items into the simulator in one go.
[Ding—]
[Magic Faction Anchor Medium Loading: +1%, +1%, +1%, +1%]
The progress bar slowly rose, each disappearing item causing a slight increase in the anchor medium's loading, climbing steadily towards completion.
Finally, the last gap in the progress bar was filled.
[Magic Faction Anchor Medium Loading Complete]
[Congratulations, host, you have gained a simulation attempt. Would you like to start the simulation and begin a wonderful simulated life?]
[Current available simulations: 1]
"Finally... succeeded."
A smile appeared on Xu Xi's face. Nearly two months had passed since the last simulation, and he had already fully absorbed the rewards from the first simulation. Now, the second simulation had arrived just in time.
"The gap between the Magic Faction and the Cultivation Faction is huge, almost unrelated. I wonder what benefits I'll gain from this simulation."
"I hope the final result won't disappoint me."
Calling up the loaded simulator panel, Xu Xi chuckled and decisively pressed the start simulation button.
[Simulation starting...]
[World line deducing...]
[Locking onto a traversable world, analyzing as a Magic Faction world]
[Generating entries, entries generated. Please select three entries as the character talents for this simulated life]
[Entry levels are white, green, blue, purple, gold, red]
Melee Mage (Blue): As a competent mage, your melee skills are astonishing. Even if a knight gets close, you can hold your own.
Elemental Perception (Purple): You have excellent elemental perception abilities, with a chance to form a contract with an elemental spirit. Perhaps you will become a leading elemental mage of the era.
Dream Whispers (Gold): You often dream of incredible whispers, gaining significant insights, but your sanity will quickly deteriorate.
Sprint (White): You run fast, much faster than the neighbor's dog.
Wisdom of Mortals (Red): Your research abilities are outstanding. As long as you're willing, you can learn anything, but everything you achieve remains within the realm of mortals.
Observer (Purple): Your attention is sharper than most, allowing you to see through appearances to the essence.
Xu Xi browsed through the entries, finding them particularly impressive this time, with the highest-level red entry appearing.
"Wisdom of Mortals... able to learn anything, isn't that like a different kind of chosen one?" Xu Xi pondered, quickly selecting three entries for this simulation: Elemental Perception (Purple), Wisdom of Mortals (Red), and Observer (Purple).
Though Dream Whispers was a gold entry, its side effect of sanity collapse was unacceptable to Xu Xi. Simulated life was 100% real, and he had no interest in becoming a deranged fool.
[Entry selection complete, start simulation?]
"Confirm."
The familiar sensation of consciousness detachment came, and in a daze, Xu Xi, as a Golden Core Cultivator, felt his surroundings glow and shake uncontrollably, breaking through time and space.
[Simulation No. 02 officially begins]
[Today's weather is particularly gloomy, with sudden heavy rain outside. You have no intention of going out while staying at home]
[The roar of a heavy truck comes from outside, but you pay it no mind, thinking there's no way it could hit you since you're indoors]
[You were careless and didn't dodge]
[The road is too slippery in the rain, and a Dayun Heavy truck's tires suddenly skid, crashing straight into your house, and you're right in its path]
[You collide with the Dayun again, getting violently thrown]
