Brid gritted his teeth as his arm hit the ground with a thud, wisps of smoke billowing out of the stump left around his arm, before rapidly spinning around as Acedia shot past him.
As Acedia turned around and began to lunge forward, Brid swiftly raised the smoking stump, the bones regrowing rapidly towards Acedia’s head, grazing the left side of his jaw as he quickly tilted his head across to the right.
Acedia sprang back as Brid tightened his grip on the handle of his hammer in his left hand, his arm suddenly bulking up as he whipped it up towards Acedia’s head, narrowly missing his snout as Acedia backed away before firing out a powerful, concentrated burst of lightning towards Brid from his hand.
Brid narrowly managed to block the blast with the handle of his hammer, his back foot sliding back slightly as he got knocked off-balance upon impact, quickly leaping out of the way as Acedia shot towards him and whipped his claws across, inflicting a deep gash across Brid’s left side before zipping up into the air, hovering above Brid.
"Wow, he deliberately focused his Regeneration solely into regrowing the bones in his arm with as much speed as possible, he tried to use that as a weapon. To react like that right after getting an arm torn off is amazing," Remarked Aria, looking impressed.
Yeah, that was pretty awesome. Impressive pain tolerance too.
"I know Acedia’s going easy on him, but considering the immense disparity between them in terms of power, he’s putting up good fight," I nodded, as Brid finished healing himself.
"Man, you’re strong...time to step it up. [Limit Breaker], [Unlimited Regeneration]!" Exclaimed Brid, his entire body bulking up, the outline of several of his veins visible as his skin tensed up, a slight red tinge across his entire body.
A burst of dust erupted out as he leapt up as high as he could, launching himself towards Acedia, who flew back and away as Brid shot up towards him.
Brid arched back his left arm before hurling his hammer towards Acedia with a rapid spin, who veered out of the way to evade it, before he shot towards Brid with a powerful flap of his wings.
As he drove his claws towards Brid’s head, Brid quickly tilted his head across to the left, a deep cut appearing across his right cheek as Acedia’s claws sliced along his skin, Brid’s body stiffening up slightly.
Suddenly, he reached up and grabbed Acedia’s forearm, tightening his grip before sharply twisting his body across in mid-air as he began to plummet, flinging Acedia down towards the ground.
Acedia slammed onto the dirt with a loud thunk, before quickly rolling out of the way as Brid balled his fists together and raised his arms up as he came plummeting down towards Acedia, swinging his fists down with immense force.
His fists collided against the ground with a crash as Acedia got out of the way, a thick cloud of dust rising up around Brid, before Acedia unloaded a rapid volley of lightning bolts into the dust cloud.
Brid zipped out of the left of the dust cloud, sprinting across the space while evading the lightning, making a beeline towards his hammer, leaping towards it and picking it up as he closed in, before spinning across as a rapid, streaky bolt of lightning came shooting towards him, just barely managing to cancel it out with a swing of his hammer.
He lifted his gaze as Acedia shot up into the air before swooping down towards him with immense speed, a devastating burst of lightning erupting around him as he closed in on Brid, blowing him away.
Brid came to a skidding halt across the ground, several streaky burns across his skin, before he scrambled back onto his feet as he healed up, Acedia rushing in towards him with immense speed.
Acedia snapped his jaws open, firing out a concentrated blast of lightning from his mouth towards Brid, who narrowly evaded the attack as he leapt off to his right, before stiffening as Acedia veered straight towards him.
Several cuts appears across Brid’s body as Acedia unfurled a vicious barrage of strikes and slashes with his claws, Brid managing to partially block and deflect some of them with the handle of his hammer, but he was steadily getting pushed back.
Suddenly, Brid began to raise his hammer defensively as Acedia snapped his jaws open, charging up lightning in his mouth, before he rapidly twisted his body across and struck Brid’s wrist with his tail, knocking the hammer out of his grasp.
Acedia fired out the charged up lightning, which Brid narrowly evaded as he shuffled across, his body stiffening slightly as the lightning grazed his right shoulder, before Acedia swiftly drove his right foot out, eliciting a sharp wheeze from Brid as his foot slammed square onto the middle of his stomach with immense force, knocking the wind out of him and sending him hurtling back through the space.
As Brid’s back slammed onto the wall of the barrier behind him, Acedia lunged towards him with a powerful flap of his wings, a deafening crackle erupting as intense lightning burst out around his claws, as he drove them straight towards Brid’s head.
Brid began to try and scramble out of the way, but he was too slow to react, Acedia’s claws getting within a whisker of the middle of his forehead, before Brid vanished from sight as the barrier teleported him out, reappearing before us and collapsing onto his knees with a strained sigh.
Acedia picked up the hammer as the barrier faded and walked over, tossing it onto the ground in front of Brid before wandering away and taking a seat on the ground, stretching his arms up with a sigh.
"Damn, I thought I could win...but the only reason I was even able to hold my own was because he was holding back," Sighed Brid, a frustrated look on his face as he deactivated his original Spells and reverted to his normal state.
"No need to be so hard on yourself, you put up a great fight. Even at your full power, you were about seventy percent as powerful as he is, and more importantly, there’s the difference in experience. You’ve only just graduated, and he, uh-...hey, Acedia, how old are you?" I called out to Acedia, who was laying on the ground and staring up at the ceiling.
"<Hm? I do not know my exact age, but approximately two centuries, more or less>," He replied uncertainly.
"There you have it. You put in a pretty impressive performance, I’ll have you spar against Acedia on a regular basis to help you keep honing your technique and combat skills, I’d say you’re already good enough to fight on the front line in High Level Dungeons," I remarked encouragingly.
"Mhm, yeah, you did great, so hold your head up," Smiled Aria, patting his shoulder.
"I-...thanks, I appreciate that, Guildmaster, Vice-Guildmaster. Huh, that’s kind of a mouthful," He Mused with a wry smile.
"Well, you can just say GM and Vice-GM, if you want," I replied with a shrug, before adding as I glanced at Aria, "Alright, Brid, rest up for a bit, it’s our turn now."
