Siren’s Cry [A LITRPG Adventure]-Interlude: Inspector’s Musings

Guard Inspector Johres had to pull himself out of the building, dry heaving in a vain attempt to clear the smell from his lungs. The overwhelming stench of copper and shit fills the air inside the old dockside warehouse. Once the hideout for a violent gang hiding under the radar of anyone with the power to get rid of them, now just an empty building filled with gore and horror.
The guard had been called that morning, when a civilian had notified them that a tall woman with the obvious tattoos of a summoner stormed through the streets with a look of cold fury. This normally would have been brushed off as someone pissing off their wife or friend or whatever, but when a second call came in fifteen minutes later that the same woman had broken down the door of an old warehouse and someone inside was screaming in terror, that raised some alarms.
When they arrived on the scene, it looked like something from a nightmare. Blood coated every visible surface, small chunks of flesh and organs stuck to the damn roof. Bones embedded into walls, and pieces of basic magical gear absolutely shredded into dust and fragmented metal. If he didn't know better, he would have thought that they had been caught in a millstone and then pasted onto the walls, there was just that little left intact. It took hours of searching to find any parts large enough to identify as a person's remains, and the results from his Basic Autopsy skill weren't reassuring, but that was only after they swept the building.
It was like that everywhere. Just bits of gore, bone, and metal everywhere. On every surface, every wall, every door. It was like a whirlwind of blades and trees blew through the warehouse and the people.
An annihilated wooden hatch in the floor gave them a new direction, and they entered with no small amount of trepidation. The pattern continued down the stone hallway, the familiar patterns of noise suppression enchantments lining the walls beneath the horror. Some of the rookies vomited behind him, adding to the already disgusting scene, but he himself was too hopped up on adrenaline and his Battle Focus skill to be bothered by it all… for now.
From somewhere down the blood-slicked hallway, tortured sobs could be heard, and it's not long before they come across a door that's cracked open. Within is someone who can only be the woman the s were about, being at least seven feet tall with stormy gray wings and a thick reptilian tail, dressed in a somehow spotless black corset dress embroidered with scales.
Despite the strangely clean and damp room, the stench is unbearable to the inspector. He has to wait outside the room as the others enter and question the three women inside. He continues down the hallway, finding only one more room to sweep, but it's the worst by far. The head of a massive orc sits impaled against the far wall, resting on a javelin made of transparent orange crystal. What little remains of the corpse is neatly sorted into a tidy row beneath the gory trophy. A mechanical fist that obviously once belonged to the orc sits on a nearby crate, and fragments of metal and what looks like a chair are embedded into the solid stone walls.
He can't hold back this time, vomiting into an empty crate. Basic Autopsy fires up again with grim results.

Var'gish [Deceased]: The remains of the orc Var'gish. Cause of death: Numerous lacerations, heart punctured, lungs punctured, disemboweled, decapitated. Strong magical residue.

The Inspector shivers. Normally, most corpses only have one or two causes of death due to the requirement of being inflicted within moments of death. To have this many… it speaks of something with a bone to pick. And despite it being his job, he's not sure if he wants to know how.
