Chapter 401: Overkill!
Jace was hooking up the virtual reality pod when the girls got home. He looked over to see them looking bright and excited. He then turned his attention back to the pod as he finished hooking it up and then pressed a button.
As soon as he pressed the button the pod lit up revealing the contents of the pod and the form fitting material that he would lie in. He began adjusting the settings so the lower part of the pod’s glass was foggy.
"Daddy!" Cho called out and hugged him. Rubbing her head into his back. He frowned and looked over his shoulder. First looking at Cho whose tail was wagging back and forth. Then he looked at Jordan who looked... angry? He had never seen Jordan angry before.
A moment later he confirmed her anger as she dropped her backpack and started making hand motions trying to communicate her discontent. Jace quietly made the motion for her to slow down. Jordan saw it and froze, realizing she was motioning to fast for him to understand. Then she began explaining.
"School was going fine for the first part of the day. But when we had yard activities and exercises the teachers left us alone for a time and the other students started being mean." She was clearly about to speed up her hand motions because she stopped to compose herself before continuing. "They started by calling us mean names and then poking fun at our ears and tails. They called me a halfbreed and Cho a freak! I really wanted to fight back, but there were so many of them. Eventually they stopped when the teachers came back, but it hurt." She was crying by the end of her explanation.
Jace made a few hand motions, "did you tell the teachers?"
Jordan nodded her sniveling and snot bubbles from crying made Jace incredibly angry for some reason. Not at Jordan but at those little kids that were bullying them. Jordan started making more hand motions. "We told a few teachers, most of them said they did not believe us. But one agreed with the other kids and said we are a half breed and freak of nature. Then he went to call us tattle tales and said we were in trouble. If we get in trouble again, our guardian has to come in to talk to the teachers."
Jace frowned even harder and gritted his teeth for a moment before it was like a light went on in his mind. He had an idea. He nodded his head and spoke aloud. "Okay. I know what you two are going to be doing before you start on the homework I am sure you got."
"What about the punishment homework?" Cho asked, she was clearly listening to Jordan’s mind when they were conversing earlier.
"Forget that, just do your regular homework tonight. In fact, ignore them if they attempt to punish you tomorrow." Jace answered with a nod of his head and began pushing the young girls over to a punching bag that was hanging from the roof. It is in the workout area that he typically uses for his workouts.
"What are you going to teach us?" Cho asked while she rubbed away the tears she was hiding when she hugged him.
"How to throw a punch!" Jace answered as he put Cho in front of the punching bag first.
"Cho already knows how to do that!" Cho pointed out with excitement.
"Not like a humanoid you do not. Also your speech pattern is slipping again." Jace told her as he and Jordan stepped back. "First, let us see you throw a punch the wrong way. Go ahead and punch the bag."
Cho nodded and turned to the bag and then reached out her hand like she was swiping at the bag and hit it.
Shink!
The bag swung back as a set of claw marks appeared on the bag. Cho looked down at her hand like it had betrayed her. Jordan tilted her head in confusion. While Jace burst into laughter. "That is definitely not how you throw a punch."
He stepped forward and first helped set her stance. Then he showed her how to adjust her hand so she was making a fist. Then he slowly showed the motion and told her which parts to keep flexible and which ones to stiffen when she made contact. Then he stepped back.
"Okay try again." Jace told her. Cho nodded and got in the stance right in front of the bag. Then she twisted her body and launched her fist forward. It slammed into the bag. The bottom half of the bag where she hit exploded into sand particles and scattered everywhere. While the top half only jostled slightly. "Hmm... that was a good punch. Now you can punch those bullies."
Jordan slowly turned and looked at him with her mouth wide open. Her eyes clearly said something. "Are you crazy? If she punches another kid they will explode!"
Jace rolled his eyes, "I know, I just wanted her to get the technique down before we had her try to weaken it." Jace then turned to Cho. "Move to the side and start punching the air for now so you do not forget the motions. Jordan, help me put this stuff together. We are going to have to reprint a punching bag for you to practice on next."
Jordan and Jace began putting the bag together when Jordan asked a question that was clearly on her mind. She started making hand motions as the new punching bag began printing with the sand inside of it. "Why are you teaching us how to fight? Aren’t there other, more peaceful ways to solve this?"
Jace burst out into laughter before answering. "What is the fun in peaceful things? That would only make you weak. Instead jump right in and bloody up your fists, that is the way I prefer to solve my issues. You do not see enemies returning to get revenge are you?"
Jordan’s jaw hung open and she seemed lost in thought before she made a few hand motions. "How have you not been arrested?"
Jace shrugged, "A bloody and ruthless hammer like me has its uses."
