Chapter 412

Chapter 412: Logistics Captain
Jace stood on the bridge of the Wolfsbane. He was dressed up in his formal uniform. A white pair of dress pants that went with his white coat. While he had a pair of black fancy shoes with black socks. He has gold colored buttons and trim along the coat and pants. On his coat were the Cerberus coat of arms for his unit on one side. On the other were all of his official rewards and achievements.
At the bottom of those rewards and achievements were the medals that he received from the Vexical Military and a few that the Victorium Military and government awarded him. Then above those there were a few unique badges that symbolized certain battles. Like the battle of Yati, the Victorium Capital world, or the battle of Vexical. Above those badges were a set of colored bars, each one indicated something he specialized in. But at the top was a long black colored bar. This one symbolized something unique even in the Victorium Military, it basically meant he was given full autonomy in any situation.
As he watched through the monitors as his new unit was already finishing putting away their gear or setting up their bunks. Their bunks were not meant for long term deployments. They were just temporary places to stay, not to live. They had their own barracks aboard the colony station. They could get their own places as well. But for now they were in the barracks.
Some of them, like the ones he was able to train for the last month because they were already on station, were already ready and standing at their designated positions at attention. Even while the dockworkers were finishing putting the gear inside the hangars. The only ones who were not specifically standing in line were the logistics division. Jace had them going around organizing everything so they could get ready quickly for their first mission.
As he was watching he heard a noise and turned to the door to see Vana walking in with a frown on her face. She glared at him as she walked over, he could already tell from the faint increase of electrical energy in and around her that she was connected to the system. She and the rest of his squad were sent to the Echo System for training and modifications. From the classified he was given, he learned everything they had gone through.
So coming back a bit angry at him made sense. Especially since she was placed in charge of logistics, a unit that would typically not have any battlefield benefit. Although the reason he placed Agent Vana in charge of logistics was more relating to her skills in organization. Apparently in her early years before she met him, she had shown exceptional skills in organization and logistics. Then now that she had awakened a system she gained a few system related abilities that helped her specialize in logistics.
"Jace... you better have a damn good reason for placing me in the logistics division." Vana informed him as she marched over with a tablet in hand.
"I do not plan to have the division stay separate like they are. With all of the training data I have organized I managed to create several groups. Aside from the space and planet based space craft divisions the rest will be mixed together to create unique squads." Jace answered as he pulled a data chip out of a pocket and tossed it toward her.
Vana caught it with her hand and then looked it over for a moment before plugging it into a port in her tablet. Once she did, her eyes lit up as she scrolled through the information. "I assume this is the reason you called me up here. You want me to go get the gear ready?"
Jace nodded, "That is correct. I would also appreciate it if you could get us ready to depart within the hour. We are officially on a time table." He waved a hand and brought up the data on the departure time.
Vana sighed as she looked over the information. "I honestly thought you put me in charge of logistics to keep me out of danger. But it turns out that you plan to get a lot of use out of us. Is there a particular group I should get ready first?"
"Yes, the groups labeled as boarding and landing parties. We will be making use of the boarding party first. While the people bound to the Wolfsbane will be the-" Jace was interrupted by a scoff from Vana.
"Yeah I see it. This is actually a unique way to organize us. But you do realize that eventually they will add more people to your unit. As it stands you only have between fifteen to twenty for each division. But I have taken a look around your ship. It can house almost a thousand people at any time." Vana pointed out as she began running through data.
"I know that is why I have training divisions and then I will have battle positions. That will allow them to train both with their teams and squads as well as train their specialties." Jace agreed. "I thought this out in the long term. Especially since I already know that I am going to need to make a transport division soon."
Vana sighed as she shook her head. "Okay, now before I head out. Are you sure about the mech division? I know it is something unique that you have never worked with before. But typically they have their own engineers and coordinated infantry divisions."
"I know, I did my research. We are supposed to be a mobile response unit. That means we are jumping right into heavy battles with a necessity for flexibility. Having an entire group full of mechs will just shoot us in the legs since they have so much focused assistance. But having a single mech will help in the same way a tank will. Without the need for a bunch of mechanics following them around." Jace explained as he pulled up the hangar where the mech divisions and the engineering division were located. The production and research division just opted to rename themselves rather than stick with their old name.
"Understood I will get right to getting this done." Vana nodded and saluted intending to leave.
"Wait!" Solisa suddenly appeared now that the important talking stuff was over. "Before you go, come check this out." Around the room appeared several photos and information. All of which caused Jace to flinch.
Mostly in embarrassment. "Solisa!"
"She has a few minutes to spare so we can gossip. Now focus on your brooding." Solisa waved him off as she brought up a particular photo. "Aren’t they the cutest?" Solisa pointed out. "I thought Cain was joking when he told me that Jace had been acting strange. But now I get it."
Vana stood frozen for a moment before she broke out into a grin. "They are so cute. Who are they?"
"Cho and Jordan." Solisa answered. "Cho is an astral beast that imprinted on him. But now she has taken on a humanoid form. She is basically Jace’s first adopted daughter. While Jordan is part of a pair of orphan girls that he took under his wing when he first came to the station."
"So then this picture..." Vana spoke as she pointed at the picture. It was a mix of attractive and adorable. It was Jace with a pair of girls on his shoulders as they walked through a pop up market. Jace had taken them since it was a new event that some people had created to celebrate the reopening of the Waterway racing that Jace had participated in and won. "Can I get a copy of this?"
"Sent, now then. After we complete this first mission you have to bring them here Jace. They look absolutely adorable. Not to mention I am sure the entire unit would love to see them." Solisa pointed. "Oh?" She suddenly found a bit of interesting information. "Woah! That is amazing, is Jordan really that good?"
A slight grin crossed his face. "She is amazing. She is a natural when it comes to using mechs and when it comes to hunting. Honestly, I have already gotten her a number of illegal programs so she can train her abilities as much as possible."
Vana’s eyes lit up and she was about to speak when Jace continued.
"I mean Cho is great with hand-to-hand combat and has been absorbing the basic techniques I taught her. But it looks like they are both completely unique when it comes to their combat styles. I mean I was impressed when I watched these two little girls crush an entire lobby, but now they are playing at a level where they could crush professional gamers." Jace began gushing in excitement, causing Solisa to giggle.
Solisa swam over to Vana and whispered. "Apparently when it comes to his two daughters he could not be prouder. Cain calls him an overly doting father."
