Jace watched as the portal closed and frowned. Fortunately there was no other evidence of him shooting aside from the cracking in the ground. He nodded and walked away after a moment. Waving at the nearby officers. "Set up a few watches in the area just in case. But send word to the other areas of fighting that the demon’s main base has been shut down. Do we have any more people in combat?"
Captain Ulin was the one to respond as she joined him in walking toward the edge of the canyon wall. "I will set up the watches but I have a feeling you already thought about that. Should we expect them to come back angry if they do come back?"
"Affirmative, I also managed to interface with a computer system or at least the equivalent and got a bunch of intel. I will need to get that up to Solisa so we can look through that. How about our people, anyone in combat?" Jace asked as he looked out at the battlefield where medics were already moving through and getting the injured patched up or marking some as dead. While others were tossing demon corpses into a pile while looting the weapons and armor.
"No, we finished everything up while you were on the other side of the portal. Do you want me to call for a ship to get you up to the Wolfsbane?" Captain Ulin asked as she quickly whispered something to a subordinate who ran off.
"Yeah, do something about my disposed weapons as well." Jace told her as he handed her the melted railgun that had a ruptured barrel. "Was anyone injured by that?"
"No but some equipment was damaged. It looks like a short range emp burst occurred when you fired through the portal. Nothing major, but it still affected some comms. Is your equipment affected?" Ulin asked as she accepted the railgun.
Jace checked his heads up display and did a quick diagnostic. Aside from the overload of data stored in his armor and a scratch on his chest plate. When he looked down and saw the damage was superficial. There was nothing too worrying about his armor. "Unaffected." Jace answered.
"By the way. How did you pull your armor out? I do not recall you going with the boarding party with your armor on." Ulin pointed out.
Jace held out his arm and the arm armor shimmered before disappearing and underneath they could see a set of black lines retreating back to under his armor. "Like my sword, I have connected it to a pocket dimension I can pull it in and out of at will. The tattoos you saw act as the anchor for the swords and armor. Aside from my armor and bladed weapons I have not been successful with anything else."
"Could I do it?" Ulin asked as she held up her energy bow.
Jace shrugged, "probably. I honestly only figured out how to do the armor a few days before we deployed but I can already feel the tattoos need to be adjusted." He told her as the arm armor reappeared with a shimmer of light.
"So... later?"
Jace chuckled and nodded his head. "Yes, later. Now if you will excuse me. I will wait here for my ride while I interface with the system. I have so many alerts and emergency notifications that the edge of my vision is red."
Ulin bowed slightly and backed away while Jace turned his attention forward and minimized his armor’s interface. Then he took a deep breath and assessed his own body. He felt slight damage on the skin layer. While his nerves itself were damaged slightly. All of which were slowly healing but he could tell that there was something else that was making it more difficult for him to heal. But the flow of the electricity and ’spirit’ as he called it was unaffected.
He then opened his eyes and pulled the nanosystem interface up.
[Hostile and Toxic Environment Detected.]
[Unknown Radiation Detected. Unknown Radiation identified as Daemon Radiation.]
[Emergency! Hostile Nanotechnology detected!]
[Emergency! Hostile Nanotechnology interference detected!]
[Initiating Hostile Technology Protocols!]

[Absorbing Hostile Nanotechnology. Absorption complete. Understanding of Hostile Nanotechnology at 18%.]

Jace double checked the last message to see if he was seeing it correctly. For one thing it specifically labeled the suspected demon’s nanotechnology as Daemon Nanites. But more importantly, was the system itself requesting to communicate? He would have to communicate this to MILD when he got the chance. He had access to a lot of classified information, but something like this never came up.
Jace thought of clicking the Y with his mind and it lit up green and then his entire system interface disappeared before a black screen with a blinking green line appeared. It almost looked like a computer system’s start up interface after a full reset.
It blinked for a second before green text started to be typed out.
[System: We need additional data on foreign nanotechnologies. It has been determined since Avatar 00328 has interacted with three other pieces of nanotechnology that you can assist. Will you assist?]
Three others? He knew he encountered the demon’s nanotechnology just a bit earlier and then there was the Centuria. But what other nanotechnology did he encounter?
He thought about responding and a white bar of text appeared along with the ’title’ that the System was calling him by.
[Avatar 00328: I can contact the Centuria about interfacing more with their nanotechnology. I can also see about finding some demon corpses and the demon sin corpses for possible dormant nanotechnology. But I have no clue what you mean about the other source of nanotechnology. Aside from the system, those are the only forms of nanotechnology I have encountered.]
[System: Corpses will need assistance in analysis on a molecular level. Assistance from the Centuria’s system would be appreciated. First encounter with foreign nanotechnology was when Avatar 00328 had killed Lord Hoodwink. That nanotechnology at the time was dormant as its systems were only beginning to be initiated.]
There was nanotechnology that Lord Hoodwink was using or trying to? That was bound to be something that would bite him in the ass.
[Avatar 00328: I will look into it. But chances are low on me locating anything. Was there anything else?]
[System: Yes, requesting that Avatar find a way to disseminate the current nanotechnology.]
[Avatar 00328: Do you mean that I need to recreate the event that disseminated nanotechnology for the first time?]
[System: Yes, if possible recreate the event. But if possible, expand the radius to include the entire home galaxy or even additional galaxies.]

The last piece of text seemed like a request to close the window of text. He clicked the Y and the screen shrunk and his normal System interface appeared. But now off to the side was a Green button with white writing labeled ’Avatar 00328’.
"Solisa, make sure you bring a variety of demon corpses onto the ship along with the sin demons that were killed. In addition we will need as many living demons as possible." Jace ordered as he spotted a space craft flying on a course toward him.
"I will have our people get to that. In addition I have been notified that the politicians and admirals are on route. The politicians are adamant about discussing your disregard for protocol and respect for your position. I think the Oda negotiators and Admirals coming with the Victorium negotiators are just coming for the inevitable show." Solisa explained to him as the shuttle hovered in front of him and the side of it opened up.
Jace climbed in and shut the door. "Direct them to my private meeting room. Full guard, we do not want them wandering around and seeing something they should not."
"Understood, I kept some security back just in case." Solisa told them.
"Major Jace, it is Captain Uti. We have located what looks like the device they used to teleport people around the planet and onto our ship. If my scans are right then it is a miniaturized version of the structure they were making using the slaves." Uti explained to him as the shuttle began lifting into the air.
"Get scans and deconstruct it and then discreetly bring it up to the ship. If we can recreate the teleportation technology the field of battle will change completely. Also have Specialist Velwrench and our other techs get back aboard when they can so they can start sifting through the data I managed to collect and steal." Jace ordered as he tapped a screen to pull up information on his unwanted guests.
"We will get on it. But information should we send back to the High Priestess and Director of MILD?" Solisa asked.
"Inform them ’objective complete’ but do not disclose anything else. We need to limit possible leaks and go outside usual information routes because of the origin of this attack." Jace ordered.
