Chapter 444: Headaches
The door to his office dinged and Jace sighed and leaned back in his chair. It was a floating chair. It used his hover tech to float.
He honestly felt that the chair was not that comfortable and was a bit too prone to flipping. He would have to put a work order in to have it replaced. But before even getting to that he had to get through all of these forms and requests. All of this paperwork was why he did not want a command position in the first place.
The first one marching through his door was the mar’talic ambassador who would be red in the face if he was a human. "What do you think you are doing?!?" He demanded immediately and slammed his hands on the mostly empty desk.
Jace had very little in his office. He was not used to having ’things’ especially things that would hold sentimental value. He would have to fill up this office eventually. His desk only had some files for some of the more classified information. But the majority of stuff was in holographic form.
Jace pulled the files together and set them to the side. "You are going to have to be a bit more specific. I have done many things." He told them as he tapped a few buttons and his holographic desk went dark.
"Your disregard for protocol for one thing. Using experimental technology that the government does not know about. Not meeting us at the hangar when we arrived. Then there is the fact that you took control of the theater of war without even a meeting." Ambassador Trun’e explained quickly while pacing back and forth in front of his desk.
Jace raised an eyebrow and looked past him at the people that were behind him. There were three other ambassadors and one admiral. The admiral was from the Oda military. Jace had been given packets on all of them and read up on them when he got the chance.
This Admiral was known for his traditional sense of keeping the borders closed and well known anti-xeno ideals. He was currently on the border to nowhere simply because he wanted to keep the empire pure. Although the more developed worlds were also on the verge of changing because of the Union.
Then there were the other three ambassadors. One was an assistant to the Victorium ambassador. He looked like he was exhausted, he looked like another Mar’talic but Jace could tell he was actually an Orius. The data packet on him was a bit mixed, but now he was starting to understand why. Seems like he was undercover for some reason.
Then there were the two ambassadors from Oda. Both of them were pro-xeno with their ideals. They wanted to join the Victorium but because of the emperor they could only establish negotiations for an alliance with the Victorium.
"The orders I was given were to come to this system. Search the Fuji-8, which I did. During which the boarding party got stuck and then crashed to the planet. After that I gave my unit orders and informed the other available parties of the plan. As for protocol in regards to the admirals and ambassadors, that is only applicable to crews, units, or ships that are only subordinate to the military or government." Jace informed the Ambassador. "Cerberus is split between the military and MILD, therefore those protocols are not applicable. Now if you want to stay and discuss what we should be doing after you are welcome to it."
There was silence for a moment before the Admiral cleared his throat. "I believe there is nothing to discuss. This planet is within the borders of the Oda Empire. You will take all of the aliens with you when you leave our planet."
"Now hold on a moment-"
"No! There is no discussion regarding this-"
The door loudly slid open again and Jace grinned and nodded his head. "Prince Fukshi, thank you for joining us on such short notice." Jace welcomed the Imperial Prince as he walked into the room.
"Thank you for inviting me aboard your impressive ship Major. I must say though, you made sure to keep everything a secret from me as much as possible. It was quite impressive. Almost every holoscreen went dark when I approached." The Imperial Prince walked past the ambassadors and sat in a seat. "Now then, what did you want to talk about?"
"The ’additional’ occupants of the planet. The ambassadors and Admiral were about to get into it regarding their status. Especially since there are races that we have never seen in this galaxy before." Jace quickly explained, "the counts are still coming in but we have around a hundred and twelve down at the demons central base underneath my ship at the moment."
"Even more in other areas." One of the ambassadors announced.
"Why are we even considering this? This is a theater of war and by all rights I have full control of the planet in place of a planetary governor." The admiral pointed out.
"Actually, I was sent here to become the planetary governor." The Imperial Prince announced with a chuckle. Then he looked over at Jace. "But how did you know that?"
Jace smirked and shrugged. "As the planetary governor, what is your position on your new occupants?"
"They can stay if they want. We will start writing up visas. But we will not force them to stay either. For that reason I ask a Victorium vessel to make a planetfall in order to escort those who wish to leave to your territory. I understand that you have a greater grasp of the intergalactic species." Prince Fukshi quickly explained with a thoughtful look on his face.
"Sounds good, I will call for a public space shuttle and military escort. In addition I will notify the High Priestess. Are your negotiations going to continue or..." Jace asked, waving his hand. He wanted to get them out of here as soon as possible.
Prince Fukshi nodded and looked at the ambassadors. "Actually it will continue. We are currently constructing a new city and the negotiations will commence there. It will also be the designated trading port for the planet."
"Sakana Nine... is set to be a former Prince’s home? Why? This is at the very edge of our territory and known space." The admiral asked in bewilderment.
"Because the Oda Empire plans on expanding into unknown space now that the rest of the nearby countries are distracted with in-fighting and the galactic war." Jace informed them. "Their new warp drives are some of the most advanced versions ever created."
"You say that... but I understand that this ship, the Wolfsbane, has a new experimental drive of its own. What warp can this ship get up to?" Prince Fukshi.
"Classified." Jace answered. "Now then-"
Beep!
There was a sudden beeping from his desk and Jace tapped it. Then a message appeared that he quickly read through before closing it. "It appears Cerberus will be stationed here for the next week. Just in case the ’Daemons’ as they are officially designated, reappear. Will that be a problem?"
Prince Fukshi shook his head, "not for me. It will give my researchers time to scan your ship and try to snatch up some advanced technologies. But I will ask for your help with humanitarian work."
"As soon as the base below us is completely searched and cataloged." Jace answered, "Now if you will excuse me. I need to get back to work." He waved at his desk.
Fukshi threw up his hands and then pulled himself out of his seat and walked to the door. After he walked out a pair of guards in infantry armor stepped in. The Admiral and ambassadors frowned as they were escorted out. As soon as they were out he tapped his desk and the door closed.
Then he pressed another button and the call connected with the High Priestess and Director Fenrir appearing. "What happened?" He asked immediately.
"A living plague is in the Crystoph Federation. We want to keep all advanced technology away at the moment because it appears to integrate all technology when it becomes available. So you are not heading to the area. In fact we are trying to close up the borders but the Rogue Metal Legion is already being infected and so are the Cthon." Director Fenrir quickly explained.
"In addition, we found out the living plague is broadcasting a singular code on repeat." The High Priestess declared, "We ran it off every known decoding and are still decoding it but it only matches one thing we have found so far."
"What?" Jace asked while he narrowed his eyes.
"Your old civilian registration number." Director Fenrir answered. "For some reason the living plague wants you."
Jace thought about it for a moment before nodding. "It is nanotechnology. Which brings me to something else I did not send. The demons were using a form of nanotechnology as well. But it sounded like they were not aware of what helped them get stronger. The system made contact and requested more interactions with hostile nanotechnology."
Director Fenrir frowned while the High Priestess looked taken aback. "What? How-"
"We will discuss this when you arrive at the Princess’ Pride. I will meet you there." Director Fenrir announced and then forcefully disconnected the call.
