Steel, Guns, and the Industrial Party in Another World-Chapter 618: Explosive News

Chapter 618: Explosive News
TL: Rui88
King Rodney XVIII slowly sat down on the throne.
Prince Jassim, Yuriko, August, Catherine, and Paul also came to sit on either side of the king; they each had a seat.
Paul’s appearance surprised many people. They were nobles who were relatively familiar with the royal family, most of them from Crystal Shrine and the royal domains, with a few from other territories.
Who was this young man? Why was he with the members of the royal family?
Many people had such questions in their minds.
“You have all traveled from your respective territories to Crystal Shrine and must have endured much hardship. My heart is deeply moved.”
Rodney XVIII began to speak.
His voice was extremely majestic, carrying a powerful and penetrating quality that struck directly into everyone’s heart.
Although the crown on his head had only recently been placed there, it was as if Rodney XVIII had already been king for several years.
“My uncle toiled his entire life for Ordo. The Lord of Light took pity on his hardship and finally welcomed him back into His embrace.”
“His life was one of integrity, a life of loyal devotion. He is a role model for us all!”
“Rodney XVII left us a rich legacy, and we thank him for it!”
“And we shall carry on his will…”

The new king spoke eloquently for over an hour, mostly reminiscing about his uncle and inspiring everyone to unite in sincerity to build an even greater Ordo.
The lengthy speech reminded Paul of listening to the headmaster’s speeches during his school days in his past life. If he had not been sitting in such a conspicuous position, he might have already started to doze off.
“But we cannot linger in grief forever. Therefore, I want to take this opportunity, while everyone is gathered in Crystal Shrine, to announce a joyous event!”
Rodney XVIII’s eyebrows rose, and the heavy expression that had been on his face seemed to have been swept away.
He turned his head to one side and said softly, “My dear Paul, my dear Catherine, come here!”
Paul and Catherine stood up and approached the throne.
The king announced to the lords in the hall in a resounding voice.
“Under the gaze of the Lord of Light, my sister, Princess Catherine Rodney, will enter into a sacred marriage contract with Count Paul Grayman of Alda in the Northwest Bay!” Ȑἁ𝐍òᛒΕᶊ
“Whoa…!”
Before Rodney XVIII’s words had even faded, a wave of astonished gasps swept through the Golden Hall.
The king continued, “Just like countless men and women in Ordo, they will form a family and contribute to the continuation of this nation…”
He had not yet finished speaking when the hall erupted into an uproar.
“Did I hear that right just now? Princess Catherine is engaged?”
“You heard right, it’s Princess Catherine!”
“That’s Princess Catherine!”
“Ah, that bastard! Who is that boy named Paul?”
“I don’t care who he is, I must duel him!”

The lords and nobles whispered amongst themselves in a flurry of discussion.
Some expressed surprise, while others expressed anger.
The waves of voices, one after another, grew louder and louder.
Some of Catherine’s most trusted subordinates, including the commanders of the knights Ofina, Klein, and Lester, stood in a corner of the hall with mixed feelings in their hearts.
The princess had already told them that she was going to marry far away in the Northwest Bay and had instructed them to remain in Crystal Shrine to serve the new king faithfully.
But this went against their personal wishes.
“Ofina, Lester, and everyone, what should we do?”
Klein asked his colleagues with uncertainty.
He felt very lost at the moment. If he followed the princess to the Northwest Bay, would the new king continue to harbor suspicions about the princess?
If he stayed to serve the new king, he would always feel awkward.
Besides, His Majesty Rodney XVIII had his own loyal retainers. Would he continue to place great trust in them, Catherine’s subordinates?
Lester remained silent, not saying a word; this had always been his temperament.
When Klein turned his questioning gaze to Ofina.
The beautiful lady with black hair and black eyes snorted, “I, for one, will follow Her Highness to the Northwest Bay, whether she agrees or not.”
“Ah, you are a woman,” Klein said. “That is a convenience. The king probably won’t think much of it.”
“Yes, she’s a woman! If she follows Her Highness, no one will say anything.”
A commander named Demps spoke, his voice tinged with a vicious tone.
“That’s right, you can go as part of Her Highness’s dowry. Ha! Maybe that boy named Paul will take you as his concubine.”
Ofina was furious. She immediately picked up a cup from a nearby table and splashed a faceful of water on Demps!
“You!” Demps, shamed into anger, glared at Ofina.
Ofina warned him, “Demps, if you dare say one more word, I will cut out your tongue!”
“That’s enough!” Klein immediately separated the two who were about to come to blows.
He looked around. Fortunately, everyone was discussing the princess’s marriage contract, and no one had noticed the little incident here.
“Don’t you see what kind of occasion this is? If His Majesty and the Princess found out, they would surely punish you!”
Klein sternly warned Demps.
“Demps, I know you’re angry, but you shouldn’t vent your anger on your companions. Your words were too vicious!”
Demps turned his face away.

No matter how much surprise, no matter how much anger and jealousy there was, the new king’s audience had to continue.
All the lords present, some of them emissaries sent by their lords, successively swore their allegiance to Rodney XVIII.
Paul even saw the emissary of Grand Duke Jars and the emissary of Grand Duke Viburen. They, too, representing their respective lords, pledged allegiance to the new king in full view of everyone.
It seemed that although Catherine’s campaign against the southern rebels had not been entirely successful, it had at least made them afraid to openly defy the royal family, and on the surface, they still acknowledged themselves as vassals of the Kingdom of Ordo.
After receiving the allegiance of the lords from all regions, the next step was to accept the blessings of the envoys from various countries.
The countries here were mainly some of Ordo’s neighbors, including the Holy See and the Horn Bay states, with the farthest being the Gabella Empire located in the continent’s interior.
Paul noticed that although the Horn Bay states were fighting fiercely, their envoys had just been discussing something together…most likely taking advantage of this rare opportunity to be together to bargain over the ongoing war.
However, when the envoys began to bless the new king of Ordo, a major event occurred.
The envoy from the Duchy of Eton did not immediately step down after finishing his blessing.
He bowed to Rodney XVIII, “Your esteemed Majesty!”
Then he turned to face the crowd.
“And to all the distinguished guests present!”
“I am here on the order of the Grand Duke of Eton to announce to you all that our country will recognize the legal status of wizards!”
This was news that was N times more explosive than the princess’s engagement just now.
