Steel, Guns, and the Industrial Party in Another World-Chapter 636: Lion’s Port

Chapter 636: Lion’s Port
TL: Rui88
Liszt stood by the huge window of his office, gazing at the bustling scene outside.
Many buildings were under construction outside. Some places were still laying foundations, some had begun to lay bricks, and others were being decorated and whitewashed.
He was now on a small peninsula that extended into the sea from the southern territory of the Horn Bay Alliance. It was not far from Fort Ness, the capital of the Horn Bay Alliance; one could reach Fort Ness in less than half a day on a fast horse.
After receiving his appointment from Count Paul Grayman of Alda, Liszt quickly began to perform his duties.
In his official capacity, he approached Marcus, the Speaker of the Horn Bay Alliance’s Council, and Joe Foster, who held significant influence in the Council, with a request to purchase a small piece of land. This land would serve as a place for the merchants of the Northwest Bay to rest, resupply, and air their goods.
Because the Horn Bay Alliance was preoccupied with war, which had a great impact on trade, merchants from other countries were more or less affected. Count Grayman sending someone to make this request did not surprise the Council.
But they still refused.
The Horn Bay Alliance was quite wealthy. Even after a year of war with the Horn Bay Church, its financial resources were not yet depleted, so the Council was not short of money.
However, in the current situation, there was one thing the Horn Bay Alliance could never have too much of: military equipment.
Liszt seized on this pain point. After repeated negotiations, on behalf of Count Grayman, he promised the Council a supply of military equipment worth about five hundred thousand Aldan silver shields. He finally obtained this small corner called Lion’s Horn, which covered an area of about 50 acres.
There was one slight imperfection: this small piece of land was considered borrowed, with a term of only thirty years.
After a series of surveys…a number of surveyors had accompanied the mercenaries to Horn Bay…the agreement was sent to Count Paul Grayman, who was still in the royal capital, Crystal Shine.
The Count’s reply came quickly. He agreed and commended Liszt…which surprised Liszt, who thought he had messed up…and urged him to sign a formal lease treaty with the Horn Bay Alliance as soon as possible.
The matter was quickly settled. This inconspicuous Lion’s Horn became a small overseas territory of the Grayman Family, for thirty years, of course.
Friedrich Liszt, Dennis McPheed, and Jerimin Elvin jointly became the administrators of this small territory.
Liszt was responsible for communication with the various Horn Bay states, McPheed was in charge of the construction of Lion’s Horn, and Elvin managed the mercenaries stationed there.
After several discussions, the three decided to build Lion’s Horn into a small city with comprehensive functions.
Although the place was not large, they still meticulously planned a port area, an administrative district, a trade district, a residential district, a warehouse district, and a military district. Every inch of land was to be used rationally.
Lion’s Horn was also renamed Lion’s Port, and the area quickly turned into a large construction site where buildings began to be erected.
The Town Hall and army barracks were the first to be completed. The mercenaries who returned from the Northwest Bay moved into the barracks and, under McPheed’s command, took on the tasks of maintaining security and defense.
After the news that the Northwest Bay was building a port at Lion’s Horn spread, a large number of Northwest Bay merchants who made their living in Horn Bay flocked to the area and purchased property.
They knew that Count Grayman had stationed a mercenary company there, and the merchants of the Northwest Bay had a fanatical confidence in the Grayman Family’s military strength. Of course, they were more willing to live under the Count’s wing.
The fledgling port also began to see merchant ships docking.
In short, this small piece of land, which previously did not even have a fishing village, began to prosper day by day.
Liszt had just returned from a long trip…to the Duchy of Eton to understand the latest situation there. The Duchy of Eton had recently announced its recognition of the legal status of spellcasters, causing a sensation throughout Horn Bay. Therefore, Liszt, who in a sense held the status of a diplomatic envoy, had to go there to investigate personally.
This was the second day of his return. Lion’s Port had changed again since he had left for Eton. Looking at this small place that was changing with each passing day, his heart filled with a sense of accomplishment. R̃𝒶ꞐốᛒËȘ
Knock, knock, knock! There was a knock on the office door.
“Come in.”
The door opened, and a staff member from the Town Hall entered and said respectfully, “Lord Liszt, a lady who claims her surname is Acitini wishes to see you.”
“Acitini?”
An image of a beautiful woman with auburn hair appeared in his mind.
“What colour is her hair?”
“It’s auburn, my lord.”
It really was Seviya. Liszt felt a small thrill of excitement and was surprised as to why she would return. Wasn’t Horn Bay a place she would avoid at all costs?
“Thank you for your trouble. Please show her in.”
“Yes, my lord.”
After a few minutes, the sound of light footsteps came from outside the door. Before Seviya had left Horn Bay, she had lived with Liszt for a period, so he was very familiar with her footsteps. Of course, the so-called cohabitation was just living in the same house; the two had not crossed any lines.
The office door opened again, and a familiar face, unseen for a long time, appeared before Liszt once more.
Seviya was a little fuller than before, her skin was smoother, and her hair was more lustrous. All the changes made her appear more beautiful and charming.
It seemed she had been living well in the Northwest Bay. Without the pressure from the Church, she was more relaxed mentally and in her daily life, so it was natural that she had become more beautiful.
Seviya walked in and gently closed the door.
“Perhaps…” Seeing the dazed and somewhat stunned man opposite her, the witch revealed a smile. “I should call you Lord Liszt now?”
Liszt came to his senses and said with a smile, “No matter what changes in my position, we are still friends. Please, sit!”
He gestured for Seviya to sit down and then personally poured her a glass of water.
“How is life in the Northwest Bay?” Although the two of them wrote to each other every month.
“Same as always. Sometimes leisurely, sometimes busy, but most importantly, safe.”
“Hahaha, I told you that you and your companions did not go to the wrong place. Since you are so satisfied, why did you come back? Could it be… to reminisce?”
Seviya’s eyes held a trace of resentment. “Can’t I just come to see you?”
“Oh, of course. You are always welcome here, Seviya. But I think you definitely did not come just for that, right?”
“Alright!” Seviya sighed helplessly. “I heard that the Etonians are no longer persecuting spellcasters. Is this true?”
Liszt nodded. “It is true.”
“I want to go to Eton to have a look.”
