Chapter 675: Ambushing the Orcs
Steel, Guns, and the Industrial Party in Another World

The forest was deep, and sunlight filtered through the dense leaves, forming mottled patterns of light and shadow on the ground.
Lester lay motionless behind a bush, his eyes occasionally darting to look at the road not far away.
This road was flat and straight, cutting through the forest and leading to the distant east.
He was not alone here; more than fifty other men were lying in ambush on both sides of the road.
They were all skilled in martial arts and proficient in various combat skills, the elite warriors of the Royal Knights.
The surroundings were quiet, with the occasional chirp of a bird. Time passed slowly, an hour, two hours…
A faint pattering sound suddenly came from the distance, growing clearer and clearer.
Someone was riding a horse at a gallop.
Lester gripped his crossbow tightly, his palms slick with sweat, and the rhythm of his heartbeat began to quicken.
A flock of birds took flight, and in his line of sight, two knights suddenly emerged from a bend in the road far away.
The “bait” had returned!
The men on horseback frantically shook their reins, panting heavily, clearly being pursued by someone.
One of them had an arrow sticking out of his shoulder, the blood soaking the surrounding area a shocking crimson.
The other had a free hand, constantly making various gestures in the air.
“Thirty… cavalry… light armor…”
Lester muttered to himself as he deciphered the information they were conveying.
The tension in his heart eased considerably.
He had the advantage in numbers.
The two knights did not stop, riding straight west along the road. Their figures were soon swallowed by the dense forest.
Another ten minutes or so passed, and the sound of hoofbeats, much denser than before, reached their ears from a distance.
The orcs were coming!
Sturdy bodies, protruding canine teeth, fine fur all over, and a pair of fierce, green-glowing eyes.
The impression they gave was often one of cruelty and terror.
And such a group was now on horseback, chasing two human knights.
The squad leader galloped at the head of his comrades, until the two humans ducked into the dense forest.
He suddenly pulled the reins tight, forcing his warhorse to rear up on its hind legs, stopping its run with a dissatisfied whinny.
“Wurige, why did you stop!”
“Haven’t you heard the human saying, do not enter a forest lightly!”
“Hahaha!” A subordinate was not satisfied with his caution. “Are we going to let two tongues escape because of your cowardice?”
Wurige snorted, “We are the pride of the plains, but we must still hold some reverence for an unfamiliar forest!”
That subordinate, however, said, “Powerful orcs fear no terrain. Admit it, Wurige, you are scared!”
Crack. The horsewhip lashed fiercely across the face of the insolent man.
“You!” The beaten orc’s eyes showed resentment.
Wurige raised his whip. “Don’t forget that I won the warrior’s contest and became your commander. If you have the skill, then beat me in the next contest before you lecture me.”
The orc opposite him did not dare to retort.
But Wurige then commanded, “I’ve changed my mind. Continue the pursuit! Go!”
With that, he whipped his horse’s rump, and the warhorse galloped off into the depths of the forest!
His subordinates also spurred their mounts and quickly followed their leader.
The orcs galloped for several hundred meters through the forest. They were surrounded by trees, and the scene outside the forest was no longer visible.
“We should spread out more, instead of crowding together on this narrow road!”
Just as this thought crossed Wurige’s mind, a black, rope-like object suddenly sprang up from the flat road ahead.
Not good!
His warhorse reacted too late, its front hooves tripping on the rope.
It let out a terrified whinny, its massive body uncontrollably tipping to the side.
Wurige on top could not control his mount, and the force from the horse’s back threw him to the ground.
At the same time, a series of whooshing sounds suddenly erupted.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
A sharp pain suddenly shot through his arm; something had pierced his flesh and embedded itself deep inside.
“Ah!” The orc, still rolling on the ground, shouted, “It’s an ambush!”
Black arrows rained down from the woods beside the road. The orcs and their horses were constantly being hit, and miserable cries echoed through the forest.
Clang!
The orcs, of course, would not just sit and wait to be killed. They drew their weapons and raised the light shields they carried to block the arrows.
Being in the forest, the orcs had dismounted and were now fighting on foot, using their mounts as cover.
The rain of arrows subsided slightly, and countless figures sprang from the dense woods on both sides, charging towards the orc cavalry.
“Despicable humans!”
The orcs, realizing they had fallen into a trap, showed no fear and roared as they charged forward.
The two sides clashed, and the fierce sounds of battle cries drifted through the forest into the distance.
As the leader of this orc squad, Wurige knew this was bad. In his haste, he could only tell that the enemy outnumbered them.
He had already leaped up from the ground and, gritting his teeth, pulled out the arrow in his arm.
The barb tearing out flesh and blood made him wince in pain.
Danger approached!
Clang!
The clash of metal weapons sent a shower of sparks into the air as the orc blocked a fatal blow with the blade in his left hand.
Wurige turned his head, his eyes, which were about to spew fire, met the pupils of a young human.
Lester held firm against the immense force coming from his sword hilt, feeling a secret shock.
Like the tall orc before him, many of the enemy had already been hit by arrows, yet they still had the strength to fight.
“Hah!”
Lester sensed that, following the orc’s roar, a tangible aura erupted from his body.
Coupled with his ferocious face and towering stature, an ordinary human soldier’s psychological defenses would have long since been shattered by fear.
But Lester was also a knight who had received martial arts training since childhood, and a standout among his peers.
He calmly brandished his longsword, time and again neutralizing the opponent’s furious attacks.
This human was actually so skilled?
Ever since entering human territory, Wurige was used to seeing these weak Aldan foreigners show expressions of terror upon seeing him.
Faced with this fellow who dared to ambush him, he grew even more furious and began to lose his reason.
He saw the human expose his side while dodging.
“Die!” He gathered his strength, raised his great blade, and swung it down at the opponent.
But the scene he imagined of cutting the opponent in two did not materialize.
Instead, that human nimbly turned and thrust the longsword in his hand under his ribs.
“Urgh…”
Feeling the sharp pain in his upper body, Wurige closed his eyes in unwilling defeat.
His massive body collapsed to the ground.
Lester was panting heavily as he looked around.
The chaotic battle was nearing its end. His side had ultimately won due to their numerical advantage.
By the time the last orc was killed, the human side had also suffered more than a dozen casualties.
