Surviving the Doomsday Apartment—With Infinite Clones!-Chapter 102: Blackened Crow Blood?

Chapter 102

Even though it was just a quiet little glass bead, it somehow seemed to exude a mood of utter speechlessness.
The White-Clad Woman thought: You’ve really got some nerve.
The river hasn’t even been crossed, and you’re already planning to burn the bridge.
She had zero confidence in whether he could even kill the Apartment Boss.
Yet this kid was already thinking about what to do after the boss was dead.
She thought Jiang Ye was outrageous enough already.
But then the Blackened Replica holding the glass bead suddenly chimed in too, backing Jiang Ye up:
“I think, whether the reward’s still available or not, it’s better to just kill the Light-type.”
“Too dangerous...”
Jiang Ye raised an eyebrow—damn, this guy’s pretty dark-hearted.
And yet, the White-Clad Woman in the bead said the same thing:
“Indeed. The Light-type is too dangerous.”
“My view is the same—if you’re confident enough, whether there's a reward or not, the Light-type shouldn’t be allowed to exist.”
Those two responses in a row gave Jiang Ye some clarity.
Originally, when he heard the White-Clad Woman suggest teaming up with the Light-type to kill the Apartment Boss,
he’d thought she had a relatively tolerant view of Light-types.
But now it was clear—
To Dark-type beings, the Light-type was an existence that simply shouldn’t exist.
For the sake of benefit, temporary cooperation could be considered.
But a natural enemy is a natural enemy.
As long as Light-type powers target Dark-types, the fear and hostility won’t go away...
Of course, Jiang Ye could see this clearly only because he stood on the Dark-type side.
A pure Light-type Ability user probably wouldn’t understand.
Or maybe, only after paying a steep price would they understand.
Meanwhile, over at the Void Mirror Palace—
The Light-type Replica was completely exhausted and deactivated Light and Shadow Escape, slumping in a six-faced Mirror Palace chamber.
That gesture alone was a show of trust toward his fellow Light-type.
Unexpectedly, this gesture of lowering his guard was met with the following comment...
“You’re so ugly.”
“……”
Jiang Ye: “You’re so rude.”
“This is ridiculous! I’m starting to doubt you’re even a real Light-type.”
“Most Light-types are tall, handsome, elegant, suave, gentlemanly, and humorous.”
“Why do you look so sketchy…”
“……”
Jiang Ye was speechless—but too exhausted to even argue.
He muttered weakly, “Prejudice! That’s all prejudice! Go recite Uncle Shen’s quotes a hundred times!”
Then he speculated, “Wait, are you a girl?”
The fellow Light-type instantly denied it: “Of course not. Didn’t you hear my voice? I’m a guy.”
“With that low-level voice changer.” Jiang Ye rolled his eyes and said flatly, “Only girls look at guys and think they’re gentlemanly and humorous.”
“To us bros, that kind of guy is just putting on an act.”
“……” The other Light-type didn’t respond—but deep down might’ve been cursing, You ugly bastard, you don’t even have the looks to fake it.
Jiang Ye didn’t mind and asked, “In my current state—completely drained—got any tips for a quick recovery?”
“The best way is your Personal Space. But in this condition, it’s not a good time to enter a Personal Instance.”
“Other options like boosting your Attributes—probably not doable either right now.”
“How about this, do you have anything good on you? If I like it, I can trade you a bottle of diluted Moonlight Essence.”
“Moonlight Essence is mainly for healing, but even diluted, it helps restore stamina.”
But Jiang Ye didn’t really have anything valuable.
Wait—
He laid out all the items he’d looted from Xing Man and Ke Peng on the floor of the Mirror Palace.
Then called into the air, “Any of these catch your eye?”
But the other Light-type replied with disgust: “What is this junk?”
“That greasy-looking black bead? You’d better just throw that thing away.”
Jiang Ye picked it up—it did look greasy, like it was coated in some kind of oily substance.
But when touched, it felt completely normal, not oily at all.
It was one of Ke Peng’s items, and Jiang Ye hadn’t checked it yet, so he asked, “What is this thing?”
“Ghast Pearl. Its main function is storing corpse oil.”
“But this thing may have hidden downsides.”
“For example, some Eerie Beings carry certain marks. Even if they’re refined into corpse oil, the mark could remain and be traceable.”
“You looted this, right?”
“Then the oil inside likely has unknown origins.”
“If it was marked, it’s basically a tracking device you’re carrying around.”
“So yeah, Dark-types love it, but for us Light-types—it’s best not to touch it at all.”
Sounded reasonable.
Jiang Ye directly stored the Ghast Pearl in the Replica Shared Space for other Replicas to use.
Especially the Phantom Lantern—it might just need corpse oil for maintenance.
As for the rest, he asked again, “Really nothing you like here?”
“Absolutely nothing.” The reply was cold and indifferent.
After a pause, the Light-type added, “You just dumped all your loot here to brush me off, huh? Don’t you have anything good that actually belongs to you?”
And Jiang Ye… really didn’t.
He thought maybe the Dice of Fate might interest the guy.
But that item belonged to Cheng Qun—it was collateral and not truly his.
Even if it was, he wouldn’t trade it away.
Not for a recovery item, anyway.
Giving up something that rare for a single-use recovery? No way.
Just as Jiang Ye was about to drop the idea—
Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a bowl of blood in the Replica Shared Space.
It was the blood he’d used earlier to soak the Lucky Bracelet.
The bracelet had later gone to Yang Wenchao.
And this bowl of blood had just been left sitting in the shared space.
In that instant, Jiang Ye’s eyes lit up. He waved a hand and pulled the bowl of blood from storage.
Then, toward the surrounding air, he said:
“I’ve got a bowl of Blackened Crow Blood here. Interested?”
“Blackened Crow… blood?” The voice of the other Light-type clearly changed tone.
It took a long pause before responding stiffly: “A-are you kidding me?”
“Well, I’m not totally sure,” Jiang Ye admitted. “I used this bowl of blood to soak a Lucky Bracelet. The bracelet actually did charge up from it.”
“Then I gave it to a friend to use.”
“That friend later complained that while wearing the bracelet, he had terrible luck…”
“So I started to suspect—it might be Blackened Crow Blood, but I’m not sure.”
“You got a way to verify it?”
“……”
Jiang Ye sounded totally sincere.
In his mind, he had way more class than any so-called gentleman.
But—ugly is still ugly, and the other Light-type’s voice turned bizarre:
“Yeah, there is one very simple way to identify it—”
“Just drink the whole bowl and see if your Light-type Ability changes.”
“……”
Jiang Ye immediately realized—this guy was absolutely messing with him.
Even so, Jiang Ye didn’t mind and simply asked again, “If it really is Blackened Crow Blood, what happens if a Light-type drinks it?”
“Not sure.”
Ever since the words Blackened Crow Blood came out of Jiang Ye’s mouth, this fellow Light-type’s voice had completely lost its earlier cheeriness—
replaced by a kind of inexplicable tension and seriousness.
Although he said he wasn’t sure, he still quickly explained:
“Depending on how it’s stored and how long it’s been kept, the effects of Blackened Crow Blood vary greatly.”
“For example, like this—just left in an open bowl, exposed to the air.”
“If it’s been sitting more than 24 hours, then it’s basically useless. It won’t have any effect.”
“That includes the ability to recharge a Lucky Bracelet.”
“But if it’s been stored for less than 24 hours…”
“If consumed by someone with a Light-type Ability no stronger than C-tier, it can outright destroy that Ability.”
“If consumed by someone up to S-tier, it may cause physical discomfort, ability suppression, or even mutation.”
“If above S-tier, most likely just physical discomfort.”
Just physical discomfort?
Jiang Ye was about to say, if it’s just that, why don’t you try it—
But before he could open his mouth,
that fellow’s voice came again, more serious than ever:
“Something’s odd.”
“Are you really a Light-type user?”
“Didn’t you feel anything?”
Jiang Ye’s heart gave a slight jolt, though his face remained calm: “Feel what?”
“The moment you brought out that bowl of blood, I felt an extremely strong sense of discomfort.”
“A discomfort very similar to the natural aversion Light-types have toward Dark-types—but even more intense.”
“So I figured, this feeling must be coming from my Light-type Ability.”
“But you, also being Light-type, why didn’t you feel it?”
“……”
Jiang Ye thought, It’s my own blood—of course I wouldn’t feel anything.
Just like how his Light-type Replica didn’t feel any hostility toward his Dark-type Replica.
But that wasn’t something he could explain to just any fellow Light-type.
Besides, due to this difference in sensation, the other Light-type seemed a little suspicious of him now.
Jiang Ye thought for a moment, then asked, “If you felt it right away, then why did you say I was joking?”
“……” The voice was still serious, with an unmistakable tone of exasperation:
“I was shocked. That ‘Are you joking’ just slipped out.”
“Because anyone who actually knows what Blackened Crow Blood is—would never just leave it sitting out in a random bowl like this…”
“……”
Alright.
So that’s what it was.
Jiang Ye had misunderstood due to his own ignorance.
He explained, “I really didn’t know how to store Blackened Crow Blood properly.”
“But since you do, would you mind helping me store it?”
“After all, by your standards, this stuff should be worth something, right?”
As soon as he finished speaking,
the bowl of bloodwater Jiang Ye had placed on the ground vanished into thin air—bowl and all.
And in its place appeared five glass vials, each only about an inch long.
Tiny bottles, each holding barely a mouthful.
So this was that so-called diluted Moonlight Essence?
“This is the real deal—five bottles of Moonlight Essence.”
“When you use it, dilute it with a 500ml container.”
So… he gave five bottles outright?
Seems like that poorly stored blood of his was still worth quite a bit.
Jiang Ye was thrilled on the inside, but kept a frown on his face. “I only asked you to help store it. I never agreed to a trade.”
The other voice came again: “You think storing this stuff is easy? If we’re not trading, why should I store it for you?”
“Also—you still haven’t answered me—”
“Why didn’t you feel any discomfort from that blood?”
“And since it’s still effective despite being exposed, that means it hasn’t been out for more than 24 hours…”
“How did you get it?”
Jiang Ye stored the five bottles of Moonlight Essence, silently accepting the deal.
Then, without being overly humble, he replied seriously:
“Everyone has their secrets. I have no obligation to tell you how I got that blood.”
“As for why I didn’t feel any discomfort…”
“Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have another Ability besides Light-type.”
“Dual Ability?” The fellow sounded only mildly surprised. “So Light-type was your second awakened Ability?”
“Exactly.” Jiang Ye answered openly, with no intention of revealing what his first Ability was.
He figured that later, when the Light-type took action and he used Replica Fusion,
any powers used could be attributed to his ‘first Ability.’
Thinking this, he couldn’t help but ask:
“Since you’ve gone through Reincarnation, you should know about Glyph Pattern Abilities, right?”
“From what I know, Human Players can acquire Glyph Abilities.”
“And once they do, they become Dark-type Beings.”
“So, can a Light-type possess a Glyph Ability?”
As he asked, he already suspected the answer would be no.
Sure enough, the response came: “No.”
“Basically, Humans gain Glyph Abilities by being invaded by an Eerie and then stealing its power.”
“But Eerie Beings are Dark-type. Even if one somehow overcomes its fear to invade a Light-type, before the Glyph could even be absorbed, the Eerie would be burned into nothing by the light.”
“So theoretically, it’s impossible.”
“But as for the second Ability…”
“To be honest, I’ve never heard of anyone who awakened Light-type as their second Ability.”
“But even in that case, a Light-type should still be unable to acquire Glyph Abilities.”
“No Dark-type Being could ever awaken a Light-type Ability.”
“So for someone who already has a Glyph Ability to then awaken Light-type… it’s just not something that can happen.”
Then the voice fell silent for a moment, before suddenly saying:
“You’d better not tell me that you, a Light-type, actually possess a Glyph Ability.”
“Relax,” Jiang Ye said solemnly. “I’m way too upright and noble to ever touch such filthy powers.”
Meanwhile, he was quietly thinking—
If Blackened Crow Blood suppresses Light-type,
would it boost Dark-types?
What if he had a Dark-type Replica take a sip of his Main Body’s blood—what would happen?
He wasn’t hoping for some wild mutation,
but if it could even slightly speed up the nurturing of Shadow Puppets, he’d be more than satisfied.
Thinking this, he was about to ask for more information on Blackened Crow Blood.
Unexpectedly, the fellow spoke first:
“This possibly-Blackened Crow Blood filth, I’ll take it back for research.”
“As for you—hurry up and clear your Personal Instance.”
“Before midnight, whether you go to Apartment 0000 or not, come to the Void Mirror Palace and find me again.”
With that, Jiang Ye saw a flash of light sweep past his vision.
No matter how he called out,
the voice of that fellow Light-type was completely gone.
