The Count's Gun-Shooting Scoundrel-Chapter 21 : Awakening (4)

Chapter 21

Kwang!
“Uwaaaak!”
As a tent collapsed, a scream was heard.
“Damn it!”
Porshe quickly rushed outside.
At the same time, Kasan also displayed superhuman strength and mercilessly slaughtered the Orcs.
He fought his way to where Mullan was and stood back-to-back with him.
“Are you really okay?”
To Mullan's worried question, Kasan retorted irritably.
“Get your head straight! This isn't the time to worry about others.”
“Hearing your voice, you sound full of energy.”
Mullan grinned and continued.
“These disgusting bastards, there's no end to them no matter how many we kill.”
He gripped his sword, caked in green blood, and panted as if he would charge at them at any moment.
Kasan, on the other hand, breathed heavily and looked toward the Orc Shaman.
Dark was engaged in a fierce battle with the ones protecting the shaman.
He was not only dodging all the attacks flying in from every direction but also counterattacking.
Having sparred with Arthur every day, he had become incredibly strong.
The thought that he had fallen behind him for a moment hurt his pride.
“Damn it!”
“What are you doing! Say something!”
“Let's draw their attention to us so Dark can take care of the shaman.”
“Then if I attack, right away...!”
The moment Mullan was about to charge at the Orc, he suddenly sensed intense heat.
“Damn it!”
A fireball was flying toward them.
“Dodge!”
Kasan pushed Mullan away and swung his sword with all his might.
Kwang!
He staggered backward and spat out a mouthful of blood.
“Keoheok!”
“Kasan!”
“Don't mind me... Stick to the plan!”
Kasan dashed toward the shaman. At that, the Orc warriors charged at him in unison.
Their glaives rained down on him.
Kasan defended only his vitals as he pushed forward.
Mullan also unleashed a fierce assault.
“Die!”
“Chwiik chwiik! Stop the humans!”
The Orcs' attention was focused on the two of them.
As the Orcs' interference weakened, Dark sprinted toward the shaman with all his might.
“Chwi-chi-chik! How dare you!”
The shaman scowled and extended his staff toward Dark.
A fireball flew at him.
Dark quickly kicked off the ground and jumped.
“Chwiik! Foolish human!”
The shaman swung his staff.
Thwack!
‘Damn it!’
As Dark was struck in the side and fell, an Orc warrior charged.
Dark quickly stepped on the Orc's head and launched himself toward the shaman.
“Die!”
He slit the shaman's throat with his dagger.
“Keoheok!”
The shaman's eyes widened.
Landing on the ground, Dark quickly moved behind him.
Then, he switched to a reverse grip on his dagger and plunged it straight down into the crown of his head.
“Chwiaaaaaa-!”
It let out a deafening scream, spraying green blood.
The Orcs inside the barracks froze in unison.
Kasan and Mullan didn't miss the opportunity and unleashed their attacks.
The situation outside the barracks was the same.
Hearing the shaman's scream, the Orcs were bewildered and fell into a panic.
In response, the Knight Order launched a fierce attack.
*        *        *
A moment later.
The command post barracks went up in flames.
Watching the Devil's Corps, a smile appeared on Arthur's lips.
“Those guys.”
“They really did it.”
“Now I have to do my part.”
Arthur looked for Skevin through the scope.
He was spotted weaving freely through the Orcs.
With every swing of his sword, at least four or five fell as a matter of course.
It was nothing short of a massacre.
“From now on, you'll have to be a little tense.”
Arthur focused on the scope with a chilling smile.
Skevin was doing a good job blocking and dodging the Orcs' attacks.
But he had one problem.
It was fine when facing weaker opponents, but it would become a fatal weakness when he met a strong one.
He planned to fix it this time.
“Shall we begin?”
Taang!
The fired aura flew toward an Orc attacking Skevin and struck its left leg.
The creature lost its balance, and its axe attack flew toward Skevin from an unpredictable angle.
Skevin could be seen barely dodging the attack.
“It's effective.”
Arthur's lips curled up as he focused on the scope again.
Before he knew it, Skevin was surrounded by Orcs.
“Perfect conditions.”
He was curious to see how he would handle it this time.
He pulled the trigger.
Taang-!
Meanwhile, Millerf's face showed a mixture of anticipation and worry as he watched Skevin.
‘Be careful.’
*        *        *
“Come on!”
Skevin blocked the Orcs' attacks and swung his sword.
Every time he swung his sword, they fell powerlessly.
After felling them all, only three remained. They charged simultaneously, launching a combined attack.
“Not a chance.”
Just as Skevin was about to block their attacks, a gunshot was heard.
It was Arthur's support fire.
But something unexpected happened.
His attack caused them to lose their balance, and their attacks came from unpredictable directions.
It was hard to block, and yet it was also difficult to swing his sword.
“Damn it!”
A close call!
He twisted his body and moved his feet as fast as possible.
Swish! Swish!
After dodging the attacks by a paper-thin margin, Skevin swung his sword like lightning.
Paaat-.
They were split in two with a single strike.
“……!”
In that moment, a bolt of lightning flashed through Skevin's mind.
As if he'd had a great realization, he stood blankly for a moment before turning his head toward where the gunshot had come from.
‘Could it be...?’
Just as Skevin's gaze deepened.
Chwiiik!
An Orc warrior swung its glaive, radiating a ferocious aura.
In the past, he would have already moved to dodge the attack, but now he just watched silently.
*aang-.
The gunshot rang out again, and as expected, Arthur's shot hit the Orc's leg.
Chwiiiiii!
The Orc lost its balance, and the glaive flew in with a skewed trajectory.
If he had moved as he usually did, it would have been a very sharp blow.
Until now, that method had worked because he was fighting weaker opponents, but against a strong foe, it would have been useless.
A strong foe would have read all his movements, just like this.
‘As I thought!’
This made it clear.
All of Arthur's attacks until now were meant to show him his flaw.
The Orc's glaive flew right next to his neck.
But Skevin didn't even blink.
He felt pathetic and ashamed that he hadn't known about this flaw until now.
“...Thanks to the Young Master, I have realized.”
Skevin drew up his mana.
A much more intense blue aura than before enveloped his sword, blazing like a flame.
Just before the glaive reached his neck, he lowered his stance and swung his sword in a circular motion.
As the sword drew a heavy arc, the attacking Orc warrior and all the other charging Orcs were sliced in two and fell.
The power of this attack, unleashed along with his enlightenment, was immense.
Skevin bowed his head respectfully in the direction where Arthur was.
“I will not forget your teachings, Young Master.”
It was then.
Kraaaaaa!
A terrifying roar, powerful enough to shake the mountains, echoed out.
For a moment, all movement ceased as if time had stopped.
After a moment.
The Orcs went berserk.
“Chwiik! It appeared!”
“Chwiik chwiik! Run!”
“Chwiiik! I don't want to die!”
Terrified, they began to flee.
Skevin stared intently at the place where the roar had come from, a bewildered expression on his face.
Kung! Kung!
The ground shook.
From the dark forest, a giant creature revealed itself, knocking down trees.
“Heok!”
“What are these things?”
Fear crept onto the faces of the once-triumphant knights.
Kraaaaaa!
The creatures roared toward the sky.
“H-how are those things...”
Skevin's face contorted rapidly.
The creature that appeared before them was an Ogre, known as the 'King of the Forest'.
A creature with terrifying power that made Orcs look like nothing more than a snack—and not just one, but three of them had appeared.
The knights, overwhelmed by the murderous aura radiating from the massive bodies, grew tense.
“Where the hell did they come from?”
“Everyone, fall back!”
At Skevin's command, the Phoenix Knights quickly retreated.
Arthur, who was watching the scene, widened his eyes.
“Those things are...”
They were 'Kadra', one of the monstrous creatures that had invaded Earth.
His mind grew complicated at the unexpected situation.
Millerf also wore a grave expression as the Ogres appeared in a group.
“Ogres...”
“So that's what they call them.”
“They are incomparably stronger than Orcs. The Knight Order is in danger.”
“Can you handle them?”
“If I perform a combined attack with Sir Skevin, we might manage one, but three will be impossible.”
“Then buy time until I join you.”
As Arthur stood up and slung the CheyTac over his shoulder, Millerf asked.
“What are you planning to do?”
“There's something I need to check.”
Arthur drew the Kukri from his back and continued.
“Relay this to Skevin! Their weak spots are the eyes and the nape of the neck, so tell him to aim there.”
Then he quickly disappeared into the forest.
“Young Master!”
Just as Millerf was about to chase after him.
Kraaaaaa!
The creatures roared, shaking the mountains.
“Damn it!”
Millerf cast Feather Fall magic and threw himself downward as if in a vertical drop.
*        *        *
“Hyaaah!”
Skevin swung his sword with all his might.
Kraaaaaa!
Swish!
Finally, the attack landed.
The Ogre whose leg was cut off let out a roar.
At that, the ones next to it pulled out trees and swung them mercilessly.
Skevin cut down the flying trees and rushed toward them.
He kicked off the ground, jumped up, and brought his sword down with all his strength.
Kraaaaaa!
This time, its arm was severed.
The Knight Order cheered at his incredible attack power.
“As expected of the Captain!”
“Amazing!”
But far from being frightened, the Ogres radiated an even thicker killing intent and unleashed their attacks.
The one with its leg cut off swung its fists while lying on the ground, and the one with its arm severed threw a rock with its other hand.
Skevin managed to block all of their attacks coming from every direction, but the mana consumption was significant.
As his mana dwindled, his attack power also weakened.
He was gradually pushed back and was soon cornered.
“Damn it!”
It was then.
Fireballs fell on them.
Pang! Pang! Pang!
*Kraaaaa!*
The Ogre roared and swung its arms wildly.
Millerf, having arrived on the battlefield, raised his staff and shouted.
“Fire Lance!”
Six lances of flame appeared in the air and flew toward the Ogre.
Peong! Peo-eo-eong!
The Ogre was engulfed in flames.
In the meantime, Skevin escaped from the creatures and ran to Millerf.
“Hah, hah.”
Skevin panted heavily and asked.
“Can we handle them?”
“There are too many. We have no choice but to stall for as long as possible until the Young Master joins us.”
“Didn't the Young Master come with you?”
“He said he had something to check and told me to go ahead...!”
Millerf stopped mid-sentence.
His face twisted horribly as two more appeared from the forest.
“Those damn things...”
“Damn it all!”
“Let's block them first.”
Millerf launched another Fire Lance attack.
This time, 12 lances of flame struck them.
Kwakwaaaaaang!
Kraaaaa!
It seemed to have the opposite effect, as the Ogres went berserk and charged.
“Get back!”
Skevin grabbed Millerf and threw himself to the side.
Millerf jumped to his feet and shouted to Skevin while launching a 'Fireball' at the creatures' backs.
“Attack their napes and eyes!”
“Umm…”
Aiming for the eyes and napes of creatures taller than trees was no easy task.
Since the Phoenix Knights all used swords, ranged attacks with bows were impossible.
The only one who could face them, himself, had overexerted himself at the beginning and his mana was almost depleted.
“Damn it!”
The situation was heading for the worst.
Skevin looked toward the place where the bead had flown from and thought of Arthur.
‘What on earth are you doing?’
