The Deadliest Lifeform in the Universe Loves Me-Volume 4: Beta-09, Chapter 4.17

We made sure Tillia would be okay before we returned to our own apartment. Tillia actually offered for us to stay there in case Eve needed any help during my metamorphosis, but Eve was insistent she would take care of me on her own.
Once we were back at the apartment, we sat on the couch together, looking at the biomass sphere like it was a rare treasure.
“So you can really do anything with this biomass, even though it’s outside your body and can’t directly touch you?” I asked.
Eve nodded, “While my perception’s a little dulled thanks to the inhibitor, I can still feel and control the biomass same as I could before I was contained. It’s part of my body, part of my cells, part of my hivemind even. I can command and control it anyway I might wish.”
I looked into Eve’s eyes, “And how would
you
use it? Keep storing it for a rainy day? Wait for the right emergency?”
Eve shook her head slowly, “I keep trying to find excuses or other ways I might utilize it—ways that would spare you the pain. But to be perfectly honest Adam, you’re right; the best way to use this biomass is to strengthen your body and enhance your abilities. Even forgetting how you might use this new power to wage war against our enemies, I like the idea of making you more durable, especially after they implanted a bomb in your fucking neck.”
I quirked up an eyebrow, “Think we could strengthen my body to the point I could survive the bomb? We could detonate it and then work out some way to get you free next or something.” I reasoned.
“No, not with my limited resources; the wiring is in too deep, locked into such a vital spot. Even if I used all the biomass to strengthen your neck, the alteration alone might dislodge the wiring to the point it might inadvertently detonate.” Eve explained.
“Oh shit, is that something we’ll need to worry about now?”
Eve shook her head again, “I’ll be careful not to dislodge anything while I unmake and remake you, trust me.”
I nodded at that, trusting Eve beyond all measure at this point, letting her change my biological makeup even. It was sooner than I would’ve liked, changing my body around and risking my humanity, but we were united against the Empire now, so it was a risk I had to take.
I really did trust Eve with my life, but I was also still wary of her dark Predazoan desires to control and consume me, desires she contained herself. But if I was to choose between Eve’s obsession over possessing me or being bound by the Empire, I would choose Eve every time.
I studied the strange dark orb that looked like congealed black blood with a red sheen, “So how do you think we should use it?” I asked.
“How do you want me to use it?”
I looked back up to Eve, “What do you mean?”
Eve nodded to the orb, “If we’re concerned with you losing your humanity over this transformation, you should be in control of the decision.”
“You don’t want to make the decision together?”
Eve shook her head, “I’ll reason it out with you, but I really do think it should be your decision.”
I nodded, then stood up from the couch and began pacing around the room, “Well, we obviously want to make the transformation worthwhile, but we don’t want it to change me to the point I lose my humanity, right?”
“Correct. Plus, we’re rather limited with how much extra biomass we’re playing with, so I wouldn’t even be able to make you as strong or as fast as me at this point.” Eve said.
I shrugged, “Maybe that’s a good thing?”
“Quite possibly, forces us to be reasonable—no chance we could waste it on turning you into a femboy either.”
I turned a glare towards Eve, but she just stuck her tongue out at me. I laughed and resumed my pacing as I thought over my potential transformation, “I still think we should give me superstrength and superspeed, maybe just not godly levels yet.” I turned to Eve, “You know how in comic books and power-scaling, they talk about like city-level, or country-level, then planetary—”
“Yes, I know, you unbelievable nerd.” Eve let out a quick sigh, “Can’t believe how badly I want your nerdy dick inside me.”
I rolled my eyes, “Please, you love it.”
Eve smiled brightly, “I know, I’m just teasing.” She nodded, “But I assume the point you were making was to limit your power so you aren’t some crazy planet-buster.”
I nodded too, “Right, like maybe just make me 10 times stronger than the average—”
“No, that’s not worth it and it’ll barely matter against a Predazoan.” Eve interrupted.
I crossed my arms and looked back at her, “What are you thinking?”
Eve held her hand out, “How about a hundred times stronger and faster than the average man?”
“A
hundred
? Isn’t that too much?”
Eve shook her head, “You’re able to lift cars, but not semitrucks. You’ll be like Captain America or even Spider-Man, but nowhere near the heavyweights like Superman.”
I sighed, “Crossing Marvel and DC, don’t know how I feel about that.”
Eve glared and threw a pillow towards me, “You know what I mean!”
I laughed and caught the pillow and put it back on the couch, “Yeah yeah, dork. And the superspeed, how’s that?”
“Certainly not like the Flash or other speedsters, but you’ll be moving anywhere from 1,000-2,000 miles per hour.” She reasoned.
“Holy shit, really? And I’ll be able to withstand that?”
Eve looked at me like I was dumb, “Darling, you think I’m just going to give you superhuman abilities and leave it at that? Half this biomass is going to used to make you durable enough to handle the new powers.”
I nodded along, “Right right.” I thought over if there was anything else we should add, “Maybe double up on that durability so I can survive an encounter with a Predazoan, maybe give me advanced healing and regeneration too.”
“All good choices, but you’re just about out of biomass now.” Eve warned me.
I looked over to see the biomass sphere had been split apart into several smaller spheres floating around her hand, with just a small clump in the middle of her palm left.
“Damn, not enough to let me shoot lasers from my hands, huh?”
Eve shook her head, “Sorry darling, no Kamehamehas with this batch.”
“No Super Saiyan either?”
Eve sighed as though greatly pained, “Unfortunately not.”
I thought over the powers I was going to receive and wondered if anything was missing, “Superstrength with the durability to match, plus some extra durability, advanced regeneration, superspeed—” I snapped my fingers and turned back to Eve, “What about my perception? Super reflexes to make sure I won’t run into walls or something?”
Eve caused one of the little orbs to float up more, “Already accounted for, don’t worry; it’ll work as kind of an enhanced adrenal gland that only activates to match your speed, so basically you won’t perceive regular things as super slow and go insane like some comic book speedsters.”
“Holy shit, you really think of everything.”
Eve flashed me a brilliant smile, “I try, darling.”
I continued pacing around the room, trying to think what I was missing. Everything I picked was pretty basic, enhancements enough to make me a threat to our enemies and durable enough to survive them, but it was all just stuff for fighting so far. One of Eve’s greatest strengths was her hyperintelligence, did I want to maybe improve my own brainpower? No, messing with my mind would probably be the fastest way to losing my humanity, I should leave that well enough alone. But I definitely needed something more utilitarian that would help Eve and I work together.
“I got it, how about some way we could secretly communicate together?” I reasoned.
“What do you have in mind?”
“Well, you have your extra-sense, right? Is there some way we could communicate back and forth with that so we could talk without other people hearing us?” I asked.
“An excellent suggestion, unfortunately my extra-sense is quite limited now. However, you definitely have the right idea.” Eve confirmed.
I pointed to my ear, “Then how about some additive to a bone in my ear so it would work like a tiny communicator, maybe it could use subtle vibrations or some shit?”
Eve nodded along with that, “Yes, that could definitely work, of course you’re just thinking of the Metal Gear Solid Codec.” She offered mildly.

How
? How the fuck do you get all my references so perfectly?”
Eve trilled an excited little giggle, “Because I’m your perfect mate, duh.”
I shook my head and chuckled in amazement, “I love you so much I can’t even stand it.” I looked over at her, “But yes, that’s exactly what I was thinking.”
“I love you too darling, more than life itself, beyond space and time and everything in between.” Eve stood up, showing me the last of the biomass had solidified into another tiny sphere, “And that’s about all we can get out of the extra biomass.”
“That’s really it, you’re sure this is how we should use it?” I asked.
Eve nodded, “Yes, and I believe you chose your enhancements quite wisely.” She walked over to stand before me, “And I’ll be honest, I’m actually quite glad you’ll be more durable from now on; I always get so nervous when you’re around danger with as vulnerable as you are.”
I rolled my eyes, “Like you won’t still be nervous.”
Eve shrugged, “A little sure, but this will make it all much more tolerable.”
I looked down at the small floating spheres, knowing they were about to completely change my life, and knowing it was really going to hurt when they did it.
“How should we do this?”
Eve took my hand and led me towards the bedroom, “I’ll try to make you as comfortable as possible, but I’m not sure how long the transformation might take.”
“It won’t kill me, right?” I asked, suddenly getting nervous over the whole ordeal.
Eve sat me down on the edge of the bed, “Of course not, I’ll have direct control over your body; I could beat your heart manually until all the stars died out if I really had to, keep the synapses in your brain firing. I would keep you alive with sheer willpower.” She assured me.
Eve laid me down on the bed and took my shirt off, and suddenly it all seemed like I was about to have a procedure performed.
I guess in a way, I kind of was.
Eve settled herself above me, putting my head in her lap as she often did, stroking my hair with one hand and teasing my scalp with the other, all while the little biomass spheres floated around us.
“Are you scared?” Eve asked me in a quiet voice.
I nodded, “Yeah, a little.”
Eve leaned down to kiss my forehead, “We don’t have to do this if you don’t want.”
I looked up to see Eve had an unsettled expression on her face.
“Are
you
nervous?” I asked her.
Eve nodded once, “Of course darling, I hate how much pain this will cause you, and there’s very little I can do to help.”
I quirked up an eyebrow, “Didn’t you talk about wanting to remake me before, putting me in a cocoon of your biomass where our minds and bodies would meld together?”
Eve shook her head slowly, “That would be different and much gentler than how this will be. If I could, I’d sedate you, maybe even take your mind into myself while your body was remade. But now that I’m contained, I can do almost nothing to comfort you.” She explained.
“So normally you’d be able to take the pain away, but now I’m stuck and have to endure it all.” I reasoned.
“Exactly, and I never wanted you to experience that pain; no matter how we might remake your body and form throughout our endless lifetimes, I always thought I would spare you the pain of the transformation.” She said.
I shrugged, “Maybe it’s a good thing; power without sacrifice might not be respected. If it really sucks, I might not want to make any more biological adjustments anytime soon. That’s a good way to keep me human.”
Eve favored me with a soft smile, “Maybe, but I still wish I could spare you from all suffering.”
Eve continued to stroke my head and sooth me, trailing her hands and nails through my hair, the gentle affection I absolutely loved. Even with the inhibitor field present, the barrier was small enough it didn’t feel like we were distant now—didn’t feel like anything was between us. Just me and my Evie on the bed together, safe in her loving embrace.
“If I ever want to go back to being a regular human, forget the additives and powers, would you be able to do that too?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper.
Eve’s hands slowed against me as she thought over her response, “I could, but it’s a much more difficult process.”
“How so?”
“With these additives, I’ll have to break down your core structure to accept them, then build it back up. But if I wanted to remove them, I’d have to break you down during the removal process, then rebuild and remake you into what you were before through each additive; it would require several breakdowns and reconfigurations, and it would be quite difficult to get you back to
exactly
the same as you were before all the remaking.”
“So it’s a one-way trip?”
Eve shook her head, “I never said that. It would just be a long, tedious process, and it would be several times more agonizing for you. I wouldn’t even try it until I was free again so I could properly manage your pain and comfort.”
“Then it’ll be a one-way trip until you’re freed from the inhibitor field.”
Eve smiled at me, “So desperate to return to base humanity before you even receive my godly gifts?”
I shrugged, “Just want to make sure it’s still an option; no matter how many thousands of lifetimes we live through, no matter how many times you unmake and remake me, no matter how often I might abandon my humanity along the way, I promise you there will always be a part of me that’ll try to reclaim it. And who knows, maybe once every dozen lifetimes, I’ll want us to give up our godly powers and live as lowly humans once again—start all over from scratch, building us up back to godhood.”
Eve’s smile turned amused, “Already planning our thousands of lifetimes while we’ll we’re barely able to survive this one?”
I shrugged, “As bad as everything seems now, it’s just one journey on the road to my eternity with you.” I reached up and put a hand on Eve’s cheek, “You’re my home and my soul Evie, and no matter how we might suffer, no matter what it takes to survive, I can promise you nothing will ever separate us; we’ll always be together, forever and for always.”
It looked like tears were shimmering in Eve’s eyes, but she leaned down to hug me and blocked my view, “Your joy is my joy, your pain is my pain. My heart will always belong to you. I love you beyond mortal comprehension, but I promise there will be no confusion in my adoration or dedication to you. I will love you in this lifetime and the next, through all our endless lives together; eternity isn’t even enough time for how much I want to spend with you. I heard your heart call to me from beyond void space; you are my past, present and future, and I will love you more each and every day I am privileged to live beside you. I love you Adam, forever and for always.”
We sat there, holding each other for a while, achieving a deep sense of peace after everything awful that happened to us over the past few days.
Finally, I was ready to take the pain, to be unmade and remade, all for the sake of my Evie.
She leaned away from me as the floating biomass spheres turned into needles, holding ready against my skin, “Are you ready, my darling?”
I nodded once, “Give me your worst, sweet-thing.”
Eve’s smile was a mask as I could still see the pain in her eyes for what she was going to inflict upon me.
As the biomass drilled into me, at first I just felt a sharp pain from where they entered, but as they burrowed deeper inside me, a burning pain spread throughout my body, feeling as though I was being liquified from the inside.
My screams were drowned out almost immediately as my voice snapped, and I became breathless as blackness overtook me, and even though I prayed for it to take me, prayed for the end, prayed for death, the pain never left me.
I was overwhelmed and consumed, but not by Eve, and not by anything I could really comprehend. There was no perception, no sense of self, no existence at all really.
There was and only ever will be the pain.
