The Same Night at the Screeching Villa…
A beautifully adorned carriage came riding under the moons shade and approached the villa. The guards, already familiar with it and under certain orders for it, let it in without much checking.
The carriage stopped before the doorsteps of the main house. The carriage door opened and a gentlemanly looking person stepped down. But this person didn't have the calm aura one would expect, instead he looked quite anxious.
This person was Vaughn Queeney, the older brother of Potonia Queeney and the sole heir of the Queeney House.
The person strode in with powerful steps and called out loudly, "Potonia!"
Meanwhile inside the house, Potonia was walking back and forth as her face was filled with unknown fear and sweat.
She had gotten notice that her older and nauseating brother would make a 'visit' today.
The word 'visit' sounded normal to any other and would think that it was just that, a simple visit.
But Potonia didn't mistake the word and knew what it really is.
Her brother didn't come to make a social call, he was here to see progress and by that, she meant the progress of her seduction.
In simpler terms, how far had she taken influence upon Henry and could use him.
But she wasn't worried about that particular answer… yet it was that annoying situation which curbed her.
Potonia, in her absentmindedness, looked down at the floor with a downtrodden figure while biting on her nails.
'What the hell am I going to tell that guy?!'
'Vaughn, I couldn't get anything from Henry but I was able to give my body as you suggested.'
'Even if I couldn't make any progress with Henry, I could at least bicker before but what am I going to say now? Vaughn would look for nothing but the results, and what's happening is so bizarre that I don't even know how to tell him.'
'Not just him, anyone would look at me weirdly if they knew it.'
'What? You came to seduce the guy, but instead of doing that, you let yourself get fucked and freely at that?!' Thinking up to such, Potonia's face paled further.
The close maids of Potonia also seemed worried.
"Madam, please be calm. Master Vaughn may not come for that. You needn't caught yourself so hard."
"Oh, Shut up!" Potonia said, "Coming at such a time, I've got be an idiot to think he's here to just check up on me."
The maids looked troubled and all tried their best to calm their madam. It wasn't because they cared about her, heck, they didn't even like Potonia.
Potonia was a bad person and they knew it. But she was also their keeper, wherever she would be, would be their home. And whatever her problems would be, it would fall on them too.
In her anger, she could do something and would put the blame on them later. And being simple commoners with no home or support, they would get gobbled up.
The maids weren't exaggerating with their thoughts; it had happened before. Potonia put blame on her maids for her mistakes and always got away with it, its most likely to happen again.
So if they couldn't tell their worries, they weren't going to sit down and wait for tragedy to strike, they were going to help themselves.
And if nothing else works… at least make sure, they aren't the ones who gets the blame.
"Potonia!"
Potonia's eyes flickered up in fright. Hearing her brothers loud tone, her already gripping worries, tightened up on her.
In fear she looked around for help, looking at her own maids and the Tax servants who were simply enjoying the show. At least she felt a bit reassured as her maids calmed her and she came up with one option.
Lie her ass off!
What? She should tell the truth before it gets muddled?
Brother, have you been seen the truth?
"Potonia"
This time the call was low and she heard her brother's steps behind her.
Potonia cleared her tone and quickly wiped her face before turning around and giving a strained smile, "Vaughn, you are here. Why don't you sit down and take a drink first brother?"
Vaughn on the other hand, was dismissive, "With what's happening, how can I stay calm about it?" Even though he said so, the guy sat down on a single couch and flicked his fingers at the servants to bring him something.
"What! Yo- You know?" Potonia, who was scared, became alarmed at that, "H- How could you know already?" She said as her mind couldn't think up such a possibility.
She was sure, her and Henry's matter shouldn't have caught attention. Then Potonia's eyes turned to her own maids with a chilling gaze.
The Maid's were confused themselves and seeing their madam's gaze, they quickly shook their heads and denied the blame.
"Do you think I am powerless? That I wouldn't even be learn of something so big." A servant arrived and Vaughn whisked the drink and sipped without checking, the fresh liquid cooling his strung expression, "I should have heard sooner and not by those bastards at the bars."
"Them? There are others?" Potonia's felt conflicted, how the hell did others know about it? Did Henry spread it?
"Not just them… everybody." Vaughn shook his head and sighed, "Everybody knew about it before I did. Do you know how foolish that makes me seem?"
"Everybody?!" Potonia stood up in shock.
Vaughn didn't answer her and talked by himself, "My own familial matter, everybody knew about it before me. Damn, you should have told me sooner, Potonia!"
Potonia's mind was so disturbed yet confused, that she didn't know what to feel, "I'm sorry… I didn't know what to say…"
Her face was cloudy as she slowly felt reality crashing down on her.
Potonia's reputation, standing, connections… all fell down without her even knowing how it fucking happened. The moment was so astounding that Potonia wanted to pull out her hair and silently gave a shrill cry.
"To think that it would involve the court and her majesty."
"Even the Queen knows about it?!" Potonia gave her brother a look of 'What the fuck, did ya just say?'.
Vaughn gave a slow nod, "Not only that, but there was the trial of combat… Damn, how could I miss something like that?"
Now it became confusing, "Trial by… Vaughn… what exactly is the fuck you are speaking of?"
Vaughn gave a squinting gaze at her, "What else? I'm talking about the matter regarding Henry Van Tax and the Dragonoir's… why are you looking at me like that?... Did you also not know?!"
Potonia shook her head and then Vaughn told her all about it.
The more she learned, the more open her jaw became.
"He- Henry… killed him?!"
Vaughn nodded slowly and sighed again, "Damn… how could I miss something so important!" The guy really wanted to see a good fight.
"Are you stupid, Vaughn!" Potonia screamed as her face became ashen, "Do you know how fucked we are?!"
"Because of the Dragonoir's?" Potonia nodded but Vaughn looked calm, "Don't worry about it… rather, it's actually good for us."
"How can it be good? They are the Dragonoir's for fucks sake." Potonia saw how things pointed towards the Dragonoir's and wondered if her brother mind resorted to stupidity.
Vaughn smiled at her reaction, "Relax, we're not the ones in trouble here, Henry is." He leaned down, "And this is just the perfect opportunity for us to bite."
Potonia squeezed her brows but couldn't speak as suddenly a servant came barging inside with a horrified expression.
"T- The Master… Lord Henry has been arrested!"
