The Invincible Son-in-law-Chapter 632 - 632: Acting County Mayor

Chapter 632

The small conference room of the Wucheng County Party Committee Office.
Secretary Li Jingyi sat in the middle position, beside her were Deputy Secretary Peng Yiru and Lin Hao, who had just entered.
The others present were the County Organization Minister, Propaganda Minister, Disciplinary Committee Secretary, and the Political and Legal Affairs Secretary.
After scanning the room, Li Jingyi said solemnly, "Everyone, I believe you are aware that County Magistrate Wei Dong was in a car accident. But, this isn't a simple accident; it was a deliberate murder!"
Though everyone had their suspicions, when Li Jingyi made the announcement, their hearts still shook violently.
Murdering a government official is not something an ordinary person dares to do. It is conceivable that this premeditated murder is not simple.
"We just received a message from the head of the special investigation team, Deputy Director Zhou of the Municipal Public Security Bureau. They have now identified the suspect, Zhao Peng from our County Party Committee's car staff."
Everyone apparently knew Zhao Peng and showed expressions of disbelief.
"Zhao Peng has accumulated a lot of gambling debts outside, and it's estimated that he was bribed, which is why he tampered with my official car. Unexpectedly, County Magistrate Wei took my car, which ultimately led to the accident. I feel deeply saddened..."
Li Jingyi felt a pang of emotion thinking about how County Magistrate Wei took the blow for her.
Seeing her downcast expression, Lin Hao picked up the conversation and said, "Zhao Peng is merely a puppet; someone is definitely pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Deputy Director Zhou is stepping up the interrogation in hopes of uncovering the truth soon and bringing those behind this to justice."
"Given that County Magistrate Wei is deceased, there is a vacancy for the county magistrate position. The Municipal Party Committee and City Government have issued an order for Deputy County Magistrate Lin Hao to temporarily take over as acting County Magistrate of Wucheng County and also serve as Deputy Secretary of the County Party Committee," Li Jingyi announced loudly.
Everyone was stunned, not expecting that Lin Hao would be promoted again. It took a moment before they remembered to applaud enthusiastically.
"County Magistrate Lin, congratulations..."
The members of the standing committee congratulated him one after another, and Lin Hao responded politely.
"Now I officially announce the removal of Lin Hao from the post of Deputy County Magistrate. Starting tomorrow, you will formally act as county magistrate. As for the candidate for Deputy County Magistrate, we will discuss it at next week's meeting," Li Jingyi continued to announce.
Within the system, a position must be filled as soon as it becomes vacant. Several deputy county magistrates are eligible; it just depends on the intentions of the higher-ups.
As the newly appointed acting county magistrate, Lin Hao will be in full charge of government work, and thus, his words carry the most weight.
The meeting was brief, and after it adjourned, Li Jingyi called Lin Hao into her office.
"How are you feeling? Stunned by the good news?" Li Jingyi smiled as she put down the document and sat down on the chair with a thud.
"I am indeed a bit dazed; it feels too unreal. How could it be so sudden?" Lin Hao sat in the chair opposite her and asked out of curiosity.
"To be honest, I was also quite surprised when I heard the news," Li Jingyi laughed.
"Sometimes, rising too quickly isn't necessarily a good thing!" Lin Hao remarked meaningfully.
"Hahaha... You're right. Secretary Cao mentioned they would give you a three-month probation. If you are not qualified, they will remove you!" Li Jingyi laughed heartily.
"Three months? That's neither long nor short, just enough to accomplish a few major tasks. It seems like they want political achievements!" Lin Hao wasn't naive at all.
"They do want achievements, but..." Li Jingyi laughed and said, "Does your promotion mean you should ignore political achievements?"
"So, our goals align with the leaders', and I suppose they will strongly support our work," Lin Hao mused.
"You should be aware of these things, but don't talk about it. Leaders also care about face," Li Jingyi reminded.
"I understand perfectly," Lin Hao nodded slightly.
"Lin Hao, you're smart and capable, especially in economic matters. Secretary Cao and Mayor Ma want you to act as county magistrate in hopes that you can secure the new energy vehicle project. After all, as the top leader, people will only negotiate with you. Do you understand?" Li Jingyi subtly guided him.
"I see!" Lin Hao realized suddenly.
"Think about it, you were only recently promoted, and under normal circumstances, it wouldn't be your turn. Yet, Wei Dong's accident unexpectedly gave them the opportunity to promote you. It can be said that you were appointed in a crisis, or had no choice but to take on the role. In any case, this incident gave you a glimmer of hope, and at the same time, it gave them hope," Li Jingyi's gaze was penetratingly clear.
Lin Hao naturally understood that it was due to his current value. Without value, how could the two prominent figures above break the norm to promote him again?
The last piece of the new energy battery industry chain puzzle is the new energy vehicle. If a new energy vehicle company can be brought to Wucheng County or Wuning City, then the entire new energy battery blueprint will be complete.
Everything else will follow naturally without the need for artificial intervention.
"Secretary Li, I want to ask if Secretary Cao and Mayor Ma have an opportunity to move further up?" Lin Hao inquired.
"Hahaha..." Li Jingyi laughed heartily, "If they can achieve the economic development goals for the next five years, then they naturally have a chance to move up. If not, this might be the end of the line for them."
"They won't burn bridges after crossing, will they?" Lin Hao asked with a worried expression.
"That's hard to say. However, at least not now. Even if they wanted to burn bridges, they would wait until you help them achieve this economic goal first," Li Jingyi replied with a smile.
Hearing the beautiful secretary's words, Lin Hao realized he was just a pawn.
Though he felt displeased, at this moment, he could only continue being a pawn.
Didn't someone say that even if you want to be a pawn, you have to see if you are qualified enough? Clearly, Lin Hao was a qualified pawn.
Seeing him silent, Li Jingyi couldn't help but comfort him, "No need to worry, even if they do burn bridges, I'm here to back you up, am I not?"
"If I manage the economic development well, would it mean my sister could also be promoted?" Lin Hao's eyes lit up.
"Naturally, your achievements are my achievements. I would certainly go to the city, whether as a bureau director or a deputy mayor, that would be quite easy," Li Jingyi smiled and nodded.
"I feel it's better to follow my sister," Lin Hao flashed a bright smile.
"You little rascal, are you blackmailing me?" Li Jingyi laughed.
Lin Hao felt that their relationship now was openly as good colleagues and partners, but secretly like a good wife and husband, at least not treating each other as pawns.
In this regard, Lin Hao felt that by helping Li Jingyi climb higher, he could also rise with the tide and enjoy the benefits effortlessly, so why not?
Li Jingyi knew she couldn't abandon Lin Hao, whether emotionally or physically, or even morally.
