The Lord Of Blood Hill-Chapter 113: The Extraordinary Level

As the caravan makes its way, Henwell accompanies Arius to attend a special training class. This class is organized by an extraordinary group invited by the Kingdom of Billie to teach the offspring of the kingdom’s elite about extraordinary knowledge. Only the core figures of the kingdom can enter this training class. Being the child of an earl is merely the ticket to get in, while the front rows are reserved for princes and princesses.
Arius is also invited by the king to attend the class with the younger generation. This gesture signifies the importance placed on allies and serves as a display of power and prestige. After all, only an established power like the Kingdom of Billie can invite extraordinary individuals of this caliber.
Several instructors, each representing different professions, deliver the lectures. Henwell listens intently, as this is his first formal encounter with the extraordinary world. The previous lecturer is a shadow profession expert, a highly skilled assassin.
In the blink of an eye, he vanishes before everyone's eyes, sending chills down Henwell's spine. Although Henwell can sense the shadow assassin's location, he cannot see him. In a battle, this would be a significant disadvantage.
Today, the instructor is a mage who doesn't disclose his name. He has a head of white hair and appears to be in his fifties. Dressed in a reddish-brown robe, he holds a staff over two feet long, made of an unknown material.
The mage begins, "In the past few days, you've encountered various extraordinary professions, but magic is the ability closest to divine power. It requires exceptional talent and significant dedication."
"Due to certain reasons, the magical energy on this continent is scarce. This not only results in low magical aptitude among humans here but also greatly diminishes the power of magic. Hence, very few mages and archmages set foot in this land."
After chanting a series of complex incantations, the old mage conjures a glowing orb at the tip of his staff, piquing Henwell's curiosity. He wonders how this is achieved, what the orb is made of, and where the energy comes from. What are the underlying principles?
However, the mage soon extinguishes the spell and, amidst the crowd's curious and slightly disappointed gazes, begins to explain the knowledge of the extraordinary world.
"There are several ranks in the extraordinary realm. Take the most common example here: knights. When you reach the rank of a knight, you gain entry into the extraordinary domain. At this stage, both your body and mental strength undergo a transformation, making you stronger. The enhancement of mental power allows you to harness the life energy stored within you. This is what you refer to as Fighting Spirit!"
With a gentle wave of his staff, the old mage projects a three-dimensional image of the human body's muscles and bones, explaining each node of energy flow for knights.
Everyone watches intently, eager not to miss a single piece of this crucial knowledge.
After introducing knights, the old mage continues, "The ranks following knights include professions like Battle Knight and Knight Commander. These are merely different manifestations of enhanced mental power, determined more by your soul's will than by physical constitution or talent."
The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.
"This stage is known as Vague Epiphany in the extraordinary hierarchy. Here, you begin to vaguely sense and utilize mental power, guiding it to form various systems—this is where professional divergence occurs."
The old mage then delves into techniques for harnessing mental power at this stage, explaining how to strengthen one's profession. The kingdom's investment is well worth it, as the mage offers a wealth of valuable insights.
During the Q&A session, someone asks about the name of the next rank. Without hesitation, the mage reveals it: Touch of Dawn. At this stage, individuals solidify their path in the extraordinary realm, accessing higher levels of energy. Knights in this rank are known as Grand Knights, symbolizing their journey along the knight's path.
The mage even mentions the rank beyond that: Hope of the Rising Sun, which is his current level. At this point, one fully establishes their extraordinary path, gaining a clear vision for the future. Like the dawn illuminating the road, it offers hope for transformation.
Focusing on knights again, at this rank, knights grasp their Knight's Heart. Essentially, it’s the fusion of will and spirit, beginning to influence reality. Knights at this level are immensely powerful and are called Iron Knights—not merely for their defense, but more so for their indomitable will and spirit.
Henwell takes a moment to organize his thoughts on the extraordinary levels he's learned about so far. The Awakening of the Extraordinary is the Knight rank, which is the most basic extraordinary level on the continent.
Vague Epiphany includes the ranks of Battle Knight and Knight Commander. Henwell has encountered several individuals at this level, such as Viscount Jansen, Knight Gunter, and Knight Taitlant. Even Scarface Archie from Forge Furnace and Bloodhorn from the arena belong to this rank.
Touch of Dawn is where one becomes a Grand Knight. This rank is rarer, and Henwell has only come across a few individuals at this level. Based on the energy he senses, Henwell can identify a few, including Grand Duke Amir. Additionally, during his time at Lion Castle, he noted three others with similar strength. Here, Henwell also meets a few more, all of whom are influential figures in the kingdom.
As for the next level, Hope of the Rising Sun, or Iron Knight, Henwell hasn't encountered anyone yet. However, he believes that each nation likely has such experts who simply do not reveal themselves easily.
Awakening of the Extraordinary, Vague Epiphany, Touch of Dawn, Hope of the Rising Sun.
Knight, Battle Knight, Grand Knight, Iron Knight!
Among these four ranks, while Henwell doesn't possess Fighting Spirit, he can roughly estimate his own combat level.
Two years ago, Henwell was already approaching the threshold of becoming a Battle Knight. By the end of last year, he was confident that he could defeat Viscount Jansen. This year, while serving as a scout for the envoy, Henwell personally faced off against a Battle Knight. Even with the opponent having assistance, Henwell swiftly dispatched them.
Henwell assesses that his strength is somewhere between a Battle Knight and a Grand Knight. He doesn't feel discouraged, as he's only nineteen. Within two years, or perhaps with a stroke of luck, he believes he could reach Grand Knight level by the age of twenty.
According to the old mage, once you reach the Battle Knight rank, your vitality becomes robust, allowing you to live over twenty years longer than average. As a Grand Knight, not only does your lifespan extend, but your body maintains its peak condition for a longer period.
By the old mage's rigorous standards, breaking through to Knight by age twenty is considered adequate, while doing so at sixteen is deemed excellent. Achieving Battle Knight status by age thirty is adequate, with twenty-five being excellent. As for Grand Knight, reaching this rank before forty is already considered quite outstanding.
Thus, Henwell isn't in a rush; time is on his side. As he matures, his physical growth continues, even accelerating somewhat! If he can live to thirty, he's confident he'll endure to become an Iron Knight, joining the ranks of the truly formidable.
