The Lord Of Blood Hill-Chapter 236: The Fierce Little Bastard
Henwell shakes his head, just waking up a little, but finds no sign of the Dawn Greatsword anywhere.
From the platform, a guard shouts down to him, “My lord, catch the sword!”
Henwell catches the tossed Dusk Greatsword, drawing the blade as he commands the Lord Iron Guards preparing to leap down, “Stay up there! Protect my uncle and Melissa!”
Captain Simon immediately rallies his men, surrounding Jansen as they move toward Marcus’s family.
Henwell spits out a mouthful of blood, gripping the Dusk Greatsword tight, and charges toward Arius’s side.
Things have gone south fast—several high-level monsters have joined the fray, and Arius’s situation teeters on the edge of collapse.
Henwell cuts in from the flank, beheading a low-level monster with a single swing.
He snatches the tail of a mid-level monster swinging at him, lets out a roar, and with a powerful grip yanks the Battle Knight-level monster close.
A brutal kick lands squarely in the monster’s chest, then with sheer force Henwell swings the creature around like a deadly weapon.
What follows is a explosive scene.
Henwell spins the half-dead mid-level monster in his left hand while wielding the Dusk Greatsword in his right, barreling into the thick of the battle.
The monster’s body smashes through scores of low-level monsters like a battering ram.
Henwell’s target: the high-level monster breaking through their line.
This monster packs Grand Knight-level strength and fights like a savage, barely held back by Amir and the others.
Seeing Henwell barreling toward him, swinging a monster corpse like a flail, the high-level monster doesn’t hesitate—he cleaves the corpse in two with a single slash.
Then, raising his decapitation greatsword, he brings it down hard.
Henwell first hurls the remaining half of the corpse forward, then braces himself, gripping his sword with both hands to block the crushing blow.
The sheer force cracks the stone slabs beneath Henwell’s feet, spiderweb fractures spreading out as the massive blade crashes down.
The high-level monster sneers, cracking his left hand’s fiery whip down hard toward Henwell’s head.
Henwell ducks to the side, narrowly avoiding the blazing lash.
He plants his foot onto the whip, then deftly swings his right leg, wrapping the whip around it.
With the whip taut, Henwell yanks back hard with his right leg, forcing the monster to lunge forward off balance.
At the same time, Henwell crouches low and charges forward.
His Dusk Greatsword clashes against the monster’s decapitation greatsword, sparks flying bright.
Henwell’s blade slices through the enemy’s sword guard, chops off a finger, and finally slashes deep into the monster’s waist.
Sliding behind the monster, Henwell drives his sword through half its body.
He knees the incoming tail strike away, twists his body, and delivers a brutal cleave, severing the monster clean in two.
But this monster’s vitality is insane—it’s still alive, dragging half its body, lunging to attack Henwell until Henwell crushes its skull underfoot.
With the high-level monster down fast, swarms of mid and low-level monsters flood in, surrounding Henwell.
He swings the Dusk Greatsword wildly, tearing through the horde with savage fury.
Count Marcus watches, impressed. “My son-in-law is one hell of a warrior!”
Melissa, protected in the center, stomps her foot. “Why are you protecting me? Go help Henwell! He’s being overwhelmed!”
Lord Iron Guards’ leader Simon replies softly, “Miss Melissa, our orders are to protect you!”
Melissa points to the ruined platform nearby. “His other greatsword is right there! If you don’t go, I’ll go down and bring it to him myself!”
Simon looks torn, but Jansen cuts in, “Simon! You go help Henwell! I’ll be there soon. Marcus will protect Melissa here—nothing will happen.”
Marcus adds, “Jansen, you can’t leave either. The two of us can guard Melissa. Everyone else, get down there to support Henwell!”
Moments later, a dozen or so figures leap down from the platform, charging toward Henwell’s position.
But from that creepy little house, more and more monsters pour out.
The support team quickly gets intercepted, struggling to hold back the monster onslaught, unable to reach Henwell.
By now, more and more knights of all ranks rush into the battlefield.
But none of them wear armor; all they have are longswords, forcing them to fight cautiously.
Their damage against the monsters is minimal at best.
Most of the real damage to the monsters comes from the church warriors.
A good portion of the kills are credited to Henwell.
The rest fall to the Lord Iron Guards.
At first, when Simon and the other Lord Iron Guards engage, they feel the pressure—but they quickly adjust.
During training, these Lord Iron Guards have sparred plenty with Henwell.
In fact, Henwell’s fighting style is somewhat similar to these monsters—both rely on overwhelming strength and speed.
So when facing the monsters’ heavy strikes, the Lord Iron Guards have the most experience to counter.
Plus, they’re all clad in heavy armor and carry small, simple shields.
Don’t underestimate those little shields—they’ve saved these Lord Iron Guards’ lives more than once.
They easily block the monsters’ hooked sickles on their left arms and deflect sudden tail strikes.
Here’s the kicker—amid the chaos, no one’s really noticed that the monsters’ defense isn’t as strong against the Lord Iron Guards.
The Lord Iron Guards can easily slice through the monsters’ dense scale-like armor with their sword edges.
Others hacking at monsters are like hacking at armor, making it difficult to achieve a single strike to break through.
Another key point: after each monster kill, the Lord Iron Guards’ physical strength keeps improving.
Originally, only Simon was a Battle Knight.
Now, two guards have broken through to Battle Knight rank mid-battle.
The other two are close behind.
It’s because of these five Lord Iron Guards leading the charge that the monster assault is held back.
But it’s just a hold—they can’t realistically break through to link up with Henwell.
Right now, Henwell is locked in a brutal fight with two high-level monsters, surrounded on all sides by more beasts.
He notices that with every monster he slays, his own physical strength keeps ramping up.
The rate of improvement is insane—actually surpassing what he experienced during the Bloodgold Plain Campaign.
Facing these two high-level monsters’ combined assault, Henwell not only holds his ground but actually pushes them back.
If it weren’t for having to constantly deal with mid-level monsters charging in, he’d have cut these two bastards down already.
Still, even these two high-level monsters start to buckle under Henwell’s relentless, storm-like onslaught.
Seeing no way to break through, after Simon slays a mid-level monster, he shouts to Henwell, “Sir! Catch the sword!”
With that, he hurls the Dawn Greatsword hard.
Henwell sidesteps and barrels through a few monsters with a savage charge, then snatches the falling sword midair.
With dual blades flashing, Henwell switches into a high-speed slaughter mode, tearing through the horde like a damn whirlwind.
Henwell’s ferocity catches the attention of that thug.
The bastard grins wide, “Little bastard, you’re pretty fierce! Let me crank up the heat for you!”
Suddenly, the creepy little house shakes violently, spewing out over a hundred monsters—all high-level.
