The Lord Of Blood Hill-Chapter 282: I’m Not as Fierce as He Is!
Conrad sighs, “This Fred really is something! No wonder he dared to challenge my lord!”
Orak bursts out laughing. “Haha… Speaking of that, your lord isn’t nearly as fierce as Fred! That guy actually managed to escape with the eldest princess through a chaotic war zone for over a year!”
”It wasn’t until His Majesty Baleqi won the Battle of Wilderness City that Fred took advantage of everyone being distracted and secretly slipped back into Ika territory with the princess. But by then, Fred was almost spent—practically dragged back by the princess herself.”
“Luckily, they ran into the Night Falcon Knights rushing to their aid. Otherwise, who knows if they’d have survived. Although the Night Falcon Knights were loyal to the old king, they were knights after all. Killing a woman, especially a royal princess, was something they strongly opposed.”
“At that time, Fred and the princess met a clever squad leader who boldly escorted them back into the knights’ ranks. With so many eyes watching, no one dared to make a move. After all, if anything happened under the Night Falcon Knights’ protection, it would be like slapping the entire order in the face!”
Hubert claps his hands. “Exactly! Most knights still have their limits! Fred bringing back the princess was a huge achievement. Fierce? Absolutely. But arrogant? Not really. So why was Baleqi so annoyed after taking power?”
Orak doesn’t hold back. “If Fred had brought back only the princess, that would have been a colossal feat. But unfortunately, he brought back two people. The princess was already pregnant! Because the princess threatened to suicide,Baleqi didn’t kill Fred”
“Think about it—a brave knight risking his life to protect the princess, fighting countless enemies. For a young princess, that’s an incredibly moving story, especially it’s firsthand experience. After spending so much time together, isolated and alone, feelings naturally develop. That’s understandable.”
“However that’s something your lord can’t do! When he went to Billie, Miss Melissa threw herself at him, but your lord didn’t dare do anything!”
Everyone’s eyes widen as they give Fred a thumbs-up.
Conrad looks at Henwell and says, “Sir, if that’s the case, you really aren’t as fierce as Lord Fred!”
Henwell rolls his eyes. “Damn it! If it weren’t for you idiots always crowding around me and never giving me a moment’s peace back then, I’d have been a father long ago! And Baleqi ignoring Fred? My cheap father-in-law, Duke Marcus, was the one who actually dared to come after me!”
Everyone bursts into laughter, then quickly starts asking why Fred never became the princess’s husband.
Henwell chuckles, “Haha… Fred want to be the prince consort? Just look at the guy! When Baleqi finally stabilized the war and basically took control of the central and southern armies, he was pretty pleased. Then he sees Fred and the eldest princess, heavily pregnant. That’s when Baleqi’s smile disappeared. If the princess hadn’t been standing in front of him, Baleqi would’ve chopped Fred down on the spot.”
“After that, Baleqi tried every trick to get rid of this reckless fellow. To avoid worrying his sister and affecting her health, Baleqi had to make Fred’s death look reasonable. So he threw him into the fiercest battles, hoping he’d die on the battlefield.”
“But guess what? Fred’s got some serious luck. After countless bloody fights, he not only survived but earned tons of military honors, climbing from centurion all the way to deputy legion commander.”
“What really drove Baleqi nuts was that Fred’s promotion was thanks to the military promotion rules Baleqi himself had set. That made Baleqi literally shake with anger!”
Waintu asks curiously, “So why was Fred sent to Tusyat City over ten years ago?”
Henwell replies, “Because the war ended, Baleqi rewarded Fred with a viscount title. But Fred underestimated how angry his father-in-law was. He tricked him into stirring up trouble for the Sanchez family in the Eastern Territory.”
“Back then, Baleqi’s second queen died of illness before the war ended. The Sanchez family tried several times to assassinate the pregnant eldest princess, aiming to force Baleqi to pick a new queen from their ranks.”
“Fred already held a grudge against the Sanchez family since they put a lot of effort into chasing him and the princess. But after the war, the Sanchez family still dared to target his fiancée and child. That was the last straw, it called for a ruthless response.”
“Baleqi, being cunning, verbally promised Fred that if he could make the Sanchez family back down, he’d agree to marry him to the princess.”
Waintu exclaims, “I heard there was a huge upheaval in the Sanchez family of Ika’s Eastern Territory back then. Was that Fred’s doing?”
Henwell nods. “Yeah! That guy really is ruthless. He’s willing to go all out just to marry. He took up arms and left Golden Capital alone, and for half a year, no one heard a thing. Just when Baleqi was starting to suspect Fred had been taken out by the Sanchez family’s agents, Fred gave him a huge surprise.”
“Somehow, Fred sneaked into the Sanchez family’s castle disguised as a servant. During a grand banquet hosted by the Sanchez family, Fred, posing as a server, plunged his sword into the Sanchez family’s patriarch—the Grand Duke guarding Ika’s Eastern Territory.”
“Then he shouted ‘Death to the traitors!’ and went on a killing spree against the Sanchez family’s core members. Miraculously, he fought his way out of the castle and escaped the Sanchez family’s lands.”
“That’s when everyone realized Fred had already become a Grand Knight, and he was only in his early thirties at the time. Then his value shot way up.”
“Normally, after such a reckless stunt, Baleqi would have just discarded him as a pawn. But things were different then, Baleqi was just starting to seize power and desperately needed elite forces under his command.”
“So Baleqi stripped Fred of his noble title and sent him to Tusyat City in the Western Regions as its lord. That way, the Sanchez family in the Eastern Territory couldn’t reach him, and Fred could help Baleqi eliminate opponents and some loyalists of the old king.”
“More importantly, it kept the eldest princess and the child far away from Fred. If Fred wanted to see the princess and the child, he had to obey Baleqi’s orders.”
By this time, everyone understands why Fred shows so little respect for the Ika royal family.
Turns out he’d been played by his own father-in-law and brother-in-law!
