The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1167

Chapter 1167
It was hard to believe that she was really the same person who had been waiting for death just moments before without a trace of hesitation.

Ummm.
Should I bring more?” a soldier cautiously asked.
“Yes. Please bring some more for now.”
She had such a tiny frame, yet all those burgers were disappearing down her throat like nobody’s business. While her eating wasn’t particularly fast, there was no sign of her slowing down either.

Hmm.
Are you hungry?”
Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon had returned to their separate forms. They walked up to Chandra, who was chewing on a burger, and looked up at her.

Hmph!

Chandra looked back at them. Her eyes then widened as she suddenly started pounding her chest like she was choking.
“Oh boy...” Davey muttered, with a look that said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Chandra shot him a quick glare, then ignored him and gulped down some water.

Puhah!
” She let out a big breath and set the burger in her hand back down. Red Ribbon sucked on her fingers while eyeing the remaining burgers.

Hmm.

That look clearly said she wanted some too.
The woman suddenly asked, “Hey... do you want one?”
“I want one! Red Ribbon wants one!”
Of course, kids didn’t really know how to say no to free goodies.
After Chandra’s offer, Red Ribbon’s eyes sparkled as she tore open the wrapper. She then began nibbling away at it with her small mouth, like a squirrel munching on an acorn.
“Did you starve her or something?”
“That’s what I want to ask you. Have you not eaten for months or something?” Davey shot back
Of course, that couldn’t have been true, but her glare said she still didn’t like the question. “I just... it just tasted really good, so I wanted to try a bit more.”
“If you try any more, you’ll wipe out the whole mess hall’s pantry. Do you even realize that what you’re eating is the rations for all the soldiers stationed here?”
Not that a few burgers would put a dent in the stockpile of food within such a massive aircraft carrier, but still.

Ahem!
” After satisfying her hunger, she looked at Davey with a slightly sour expression. “Thanks. That is the most delicious thing I’ve ever had in my life.”
“Didn’t think you’d ever thank a human.”

Ahem!
” She scowled.
The happy look she’d had while munching on that cheeseburger had completely vanished. That change solidified his suspicion.
“Well, I ate as much as I wanted. Now, go ahead and kill me.” She stretched her neck out and closed her eyes.
Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon exchanged sad glances, merging back into Super Ribbon with a flash of light.
“Father! Please wait!” She hurriedly stepped in front of Davey. “She wasn’t the one who caused the explosion. She never intended to hurt Eva, either.”
She looked like she was really struggling with the idea of Chandra dying.
“Do you really have to kill her?”
Davey didn’t answer. He just looked at Chandra.
She hated humans, but all she had left was just the betrayal she felt and no place to call home. In addition, she wanted to die. If she’d truly been evil, Davey wouldn’t have hesitated to kill her.
For someone like her, living could be even more painful than dying. However, if she really hadn’t done anything wrong, then he figured granting her wish would probably be the nicer thing to do.
Just as Davey reached out with a hand and began to tighten his grip around her neck, Super Ribbon shouted out again to get him to stop.
He ended up letting go before her breathing stopped. Such a brutal execution left a bad taste in his mouth.
“This is such a letdown,” he murmured to himself.
“W-What... What did you say?”
“It’s over. I’ll give you clemency. Get lost.”
Davey let the bad taste linger in his mouth. He opened the door to the interrogation room and made his way out.
She couldn’t believe it. “Are you sure you won’t regret this? If you don’t kill me now, you’ll definitely regret it someday. I’m going to wipe out every human out there!”
Davey stopped in his tracks and looked back at her. “When you lie, with your skills, try not to look people in the eye.”
“What...?” she asked with a confused face.
“Those don’t look like the eyes of someone who wants to die right now.”
She froze at his words.
“Alright, let’s do this then. Looks like I’m the only one who can kill you right now, anyway.”
She swallowed hard at his remark.
“I’ll kill you eventually, so just cooperate with me for a while.”
If she really was telling the truth about how she wasn’t the one who attacked Super Ribbon and Reina, it meant that someone else was lurking in the background, pulling the strings with twisted schemes.
“Tell me everything you know about that bastard. Once I deal with him, I’ll do whatever you want.”
Despite the generous offer, she kept her mouth shut and glared at Davey for a long time. “Do you really think I’d work with a human?”
“Didn’t you want to die more than you hated humans?”
She didn’t have a response.
“Well? Are you in or not?”
The decision didn’t take long. Her eyes suddenly widened, and she coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Hm?
” Just as Davey furrowed his brow at her sudden change, she stumbled and clutched her head in pain.

Ugh?!
What is this?!”
“Hey, are you alright?”
“Stop!! No!! I don’t want to hear it!!” she screamed in agony.
Her whole body twisted in pain, and Super Ribbon looked at Davey in a panic. At the same time, a black mist began seeping into the woman.
Davey was sure that he had already drained her of most of her power. He couldn’t help but wonder if there was anything left in her sufficient to cause a surge. The black mist was different from anything he knew.
He quickly released the authority of Predatory Assimilation and tore at the energy, cutting it off. Alas, a massive amount had already made its way into her system.
She suddenly froze.
As Davey watched her with suspicion, something unfolded behind her. She had suddenly sprouted butterfly wings on her back.
Boom!!!
The moment her wings spread, she slammed her body through the nearest wall and shot up into the sky above the ocean, acting like she’d completely lost her mind.
Her sudden rampage threw the standby fleet into a frenzy as the escort fleet’s cannons began locking onto her. They instinctively sensed something was wrong, with something very dangerous having gotten loose.
Still clutching her head, she started screaming, “Father! What’s happening?!”
“Something’s making her go berserk.”
From the outside, it looked like she hadn’t absorbed any outside energy. Having exhausted most of her strength fighting Davey, she shouldn’t have had the power left to cause such a scene.
Something felt off. It was like she was connected to something invisible.
Boom!!!
Then one of the escort ships suddenly fired its cannon at her. The shell exploded on impact, creating a massive blast that sent up a thick cloud of smoke.
“Who the hell gave the order to fire?!”
The first to erupt in anger was Captain Vista. He roared in fury, outraged that someone had fired without his command.
However, the damage had already been done. Once the black smoke cleared, she emerged unscathed. She soon let out a piercing scream and curled into herself, her scream rippling through the air and sending shudders through the atmosphere.
Half-mad, she then clapped her hands together. The butterfly wings glowing on her back shimmered once and burst into radiant light before light beams formed in the air and rained down toward the fleet.
Without hesitation, Davey called Super Ribbon, and she transformed into a sword in his hand.
[Demonic Sword]
[One Strike Flash]
Swoosh!!
A massive slash, dozens or even hundreds of meters long, tore through the air with a ripping sound before vanishing. Most of the incoming attacks were effectively wiped out. However, one section of the escort fleet suddenly exploded.

Hm?

The attacks hadn’t even landed, yet the explosion went off like it had been patiently waiting for that moment.
Davey narrowed his eyes at the blast zone and realized it was the same ship that had launched the surprise attack on her just moments before.
It was almost as if someone was forcing a conflict between her and the U.S. war fleet. As one of the warships became engulfed in flames from the massive blast, tension rippled through the entire fleet.
War always began with a single shot. The U.S. fleet, shaken by the sudden loss of one of their own, was instantly consumed by rage and madness. They ignored even Captain Vista’s orders as they began retaliating.
“Cease fire!! Goddammit, cease fire!!” Captain Vista urgently called to stop the fleet, but no answer came back. It was as if they heard him but chose to ignore him.
Missiles and shells rained down on Chandra in such volume that they lit up the night sea, yet she didn’t stop. She clapped her hands yet again.
Crack!!
Fog-like energy gathered around her, forming an enormous magic circle. Something massive quickly began to emerge from within it.
It was a colossal butterfly formed from light. It fluttered its wings and began drawing in energy, aiming again at the fleet.
“Well... guess I have no other choice,” Davey muttered as he watched the scene unfold.
Things had gone too far, and coaxing her back was no longer an option.
He thought about how the situation had turned into such a fustercluck. His first assumption was that it wasn’t her own doing. His second assumption was that someone was manipulating everything, pushing everyone into madness.
Then one certain fact came across his mind—there was another entity involved besides her.
He quickly came to a conclusion. Some bastard who hadn’t appeared yet had triggered her berserk state and was manipulating the fleet, forcing them into battle with each other. It was as if someone wanted Davey to kill her no matter what.
Thinking it through, he felt like some arrogant being was toying with him in the palm of their hand.
Davey let out a cold, bitter laugh.
The berserk Chandra showed no signs of calming down. Even if he overpowered her, it was unlikely for her to return to normal.
So, Davey instead searched for the most effective counter to subdue her and restore her to her senses.
Boom! Boom!!
Even if the U.S. fleet was powerful, there was only so much they could do against a being capable of destroying nations alone.
Several of the escort ships were already engulfed in flames, looking ready to sink at any moment.
“So it’s come to this,” he said with a sigh.
He had hoped it wouldn’t turn out in such a way, but the world didn’t always go as one wished.
Zing!! Boom!!
Light beams converged in the air once more, locking onto another escort ship. Captain Vista went pale.

Oh.
god damn it...”
It seemed he could already imagine the ship being obliterated by the beam. His expression made it clear.
He turned to Davey and yelled, “Damn you! You said it would be fine!”
“She’s not the one doing this,” Davey answered calmly.
“If it’s not her, then who the hell is it?!” Vista shouted in frustration.
“She’s being controlled. Someone in your fleet is, too.”
“What...?”
“Just focus on defense for now, Captain. I’ll take care of it.”
He then reached out toward her. Before the beam of light could completely swallow the escort ship, the sea roared.
“Come forth, Behemoth.”
Boom!!!
A massive tentacle, easily large enough to wrap around a hundred-meter-long escort ship like it was a bath toy, erupted from the ocean and swept the ship out of the beam’s path.
Whoosh!! Boom!!
The remaining tentacles clashed with the beam in midair, forcibly triggering an explosion before it could hit the ship.
Captain Vista’s eyes went wide as he stared at the monstrous tentacles. “W-What the hell are those?!”
His eyes demanded an explanation, but Davey simply went forward with his command. “Rise.”
Following his call, the sea surged violently before a massive beast resembling a white-bearded whale emerged. Its sheer size and menacing form sent shudders down the spines of all who saw it.
It was none other than Behemoth, one of the Mythical Beast Kings. Yet, even in the face of its overwhelming presence, the berserk Butterfly Empress Chandra screamed and clapped her hands once again.
The space around her twisted, like fantasy warping into reality. Soon enough, a colossal butterfly hundreds of meters wide appeared from somewhere. It began flapping its wings and gathering energy.
“So you’re trying to overwhelm me with numbers,
eh?
” Davey could’ve ended it all with a single slash of Super Ribbon, but he wasn’t about to do anyone a favor.
He began walking across the runway, steadily approaching her. Then, once again, he said, “Show yourself.”
With those words, the sky split open and shattered like glass. From within the cracks emerged a massive claw.
Gripping the edges of the rift, something forced it open like tearing a door off its hinges.
A gigantic black dragon began to reveal itself.
It was Megalodria, the Azure Sky's Storm Dragon King, also one of the Mythical Beast Kings with Behemoth.
[Contractor.]
“Wipe out that butterfly, Megalodria.”
The beast fully emerged from the rift and unleashed a thunderous roar. It charged straight at the giant butterfly Chandra had summoned, grabbed it, and blasted its breath right into its face.
With two Mythical Beast Kings suddenly entering the battlefield, the tide of battle shifted instantly.
Of course, Chandra didn’t simply give up there. She had lost her sanity, after all. Rational reasoning no longer existed for her.
As if one butterfly wasn’t enough, she began summoning another massive creature. Alas, whatever she called forth didn’t even get the chance to join the fight.
Each time Davey looked up at her and told her to reveal herself, the sky tore open again, and another monstrous presence descended.
First came the Vermillion Bird Fire Chicken, famous among the four Divine Beasts for its uncontrollable rage. It soared in and crashed into one of her summoned beasts, tangling with it midair.
Next was Rumble the Azure Dragon, bursting from between the clouds. It lunged down, seized the summoned beast that was targeting Fire Chicken, and dove into the ocean with it.
Black Tortoise and Whitey also appeared to intercept the light beams raining down toward the ground.
Every time she summoned something, Davey simply summoned something stronger to counter it.
In the blink of an eye, the battlefield had become a chaotic brawl of sheer numbers. As the one at the center of it all, the only way to stop Chandra seemed to be to kill her.
Even so, Davey didn’t do that, despite the berserk Chandra rampaging as if daring him to kill her.
“I choose you, Verdandi.”
Verdandi, the Princess of the Abyss who could manifest fantasy into reality. She was the second of the ancient dragon Eclipse’s adopted daughters, and the one who wielded perhaps the most alien, overwhelming power of them all.
After she appeared, she didn’t look too pleased to be summoned. Davey had never called her out so abruptly before.
“I didn’t think you’d summon me like this.”
“Enough talk. Let’s work together for once. She uses a power similar to yours, so it’s fitting. I’m not wanting to kill her, just restraining the rampage. You can handle that, right?”
“What, you suddenly think I’m your subordinate?” she said in a sharp voice full of irritation.
Yet despite her complaints, she moved accordingly.
Their powers shared similar traits, but Verdandi’s was far more intense.
A massive hand appeared and seized Chandra from the sky. She shrieked and struggled, yet before she could break free, Verdandi flicked her fingers once again.
Faced with the overwhelming presence of the four Divine Beasts, the Mythical Beast Kings, and Verdandi standing behind Davey, Captain Vista swallowed hard.
“So this is what they meant... when they said no single nation could hope to fight him.” Sweat trickled down his forehead as he stared directly at Davey.
“So, this is why the Pentagon bows its head to you...” he muttered, sounding utterly dumbfounded.
