The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1182

Chapter 1182
Al Hajat, the acting manager of Evangeline’s stream, had recently found a new source of entertainment: watching her streams.
Just as he had expected, he found watching her streams to be far more enjoyable than swinging swords to decapitate villains in some game. He was glad he’d volunteered to take on the manager role.
It was a stream hosted by the beloved daughter of a close friend.
Her streams didn’t have anything particularly provocative or sensational. Still, her slightly unconventional logic and quirky charm made it clear why she had over a million subscribers.
Of course, she did occasionally cross the line with her remarks.

Hmmm.
I get her just fine,” he muttered to himself as he stared at his phone with a curious expression.

Uh,
Your Highness.”
“Why the long face, Antonio? If you're feeling unwell, speak to the royal physician.”
“No, Your Highness. It’s just... if you pour over five million won into a game, you’re bound to get what you want...”
Al Hajat fell silent for a moment at his retort. “I see.”
“Miss Evangeline only spent about a tenth of that.”

Hmmm.

“Your Highness, you're probably the only person who could spend five million won and still not get what you want.”
Al Hajat couldn’t find anything to say for a while. Eventually, he quietly asked, “What was the name of this company again?”
* * *
“Wow! An event!” Evangeline shouted with joy, practically jumping with excitement. She had been seriously considering spending more money after failing to pull the character she wanted.
In the end, she had held back through superhuman willpower, though she still saw the new character dancing in front of her whenever she closed her eyes.
‘So this is why they say to never get into gambling.’
She couldn’t help but recall the things her mom and dad had told her.
However, an opportunity had suddenly presented itself! The gacha game that had been draining all her money was suddenly running a payback event.
“Wow. I haven’t been playing this game long, but I’ve never seen a 100% payback on everything I spent! On top of that, double drop rates?”
Evangeline clapped her hands, thrilled.
[They finally lost it LOL]
[Wait, they’re actually doing a full payback?]
[Boss... doesn’t matter, you’re not destined to get it...]

Hmph,
this time I’m definitely getting it.” She confidently placed her hand on the mouse and started her first ten-pull.
Purple effect.
“Well, even with double rates, it’s still just six percent, so I wasn’t expecting it to happen right away.”
She kept pulling.
About ten minutes later, Evangeline had her face buried in her left arm as she lay slumped over the desk, pounding the table with her right.
[Hang in there, boss...]

Hrk. Haah.
How?! How is this even possible...”
On her screen, the character she pulled sparkled with a radiant glow.
[Constellation Leo has donated 50,000 Won.]
- How do you manage to blow through your whole payback and still not get it without spending extra? You’re a legend, Evangeline.
Again?
[Constellation Leo has been banned.]
She had hit the ban button with a scowl and let out a short sigh. “This game is bad. It’s a bad game.”
Even as she sighed, she started setting up the newly pulled character.

Ugh.
Whatever, I need to stop thinking about it. This isn’t what matters right now.”
The game that had been tormenting her was important, but it wasn’t what mattered at the moment.
She adjusted the stream settings with a smile.
“I’ll be back in an hour. I’m putting the stream on standby for now.”
[??? All of a sudden?]
[Where you going boss?]
Even as the chat blew up with question marks, she responded with a chilling smile. “I’m going to take revenge on the scammer. That’s what my dad taught me.”
Having bad luck was unavoidable. In that case, all that was left as retaliation was to find a way to punish the one who toyed with it.
She gave up on her usual drawing sessions to pursue revenge.
* * *

Ahahahahahah!”
Park Seung-Hyun, the drawing streamer known as [Moderation], burst into uncontrollable laughter.
He hadn’t felt so satisfied in ages. He couldn’t remember the last time he had felt such catharsis.
[Moderation you’re so messed up...]
[He’s definitely not a person. That’s a wild animal.]
[Facts.]
“Facts, my ass, you damned villains.”
He was normally a pretty well-mannered streamer.
To put it nicely, he knew his boundaries, never cursed, and always remained polite. To put it bluntly, he was a bit of a boomer.
He didn’t usually enjoy teasing people, yet when it came to Evangeline, he’d been having too much fun.
“There’s something about Evangeline, making it so that I just want to troll her.”
The gacha bait had been for that purpose. He hadn’t expected to pull the character on the first try, either. Even so, the moment the character popped up, he immediately recognized that it was the one Evangeline wanted so badly, and it’d be perfect if he teased her with it.
Overjoyed, he went to her stream and drove the nail in as she suffered after blowing through all her crumpled-up pocket money savings.
“Come on, you guys know I don’t usually like bullying people or mocking anyone. But seriously, she’s born to be trolled.”
[LOL hard agree]
[There’s something really satisfying about messing with her]
[It wouldn’t be surprising if we get kidnapped Tionis-style for crossing the line, but it’s still fun to tease her LOL]
A good chunk of his viewers were also fans of her stream, so plenty of them could relate to what he was saying.
[But yo Moderation, aren’t you kinda begging for some karmic payback at this point?]
“Come on, I know my limits.”
[You crossed the line this time.]
“Please, like they’re really gonna come after me for teasing her a little?”
Thud!!!

Aaah!!
What the hell?!”
Right then, a loud thump rang out behind him. He flinched and spun around.
One of the robot figurines behind him on his wall had fallen over.
“Oh
man, that one’s expensive... Why the hell did it fall on its own?”
He stared, stunned, unable to comprehend what just happened.
[Ugh, this mecha freak...]
[He treats his model kits better than his own life.]
“Hey, everyone’s got their hobbies. Mine just happens to be collecting plastic models and robot figures,” he said proudly as he placed the figure back where it belonged.
That was when it happened.
[DUDE!! BEHIND YOU!!]
He waved his hand dismissively, chuckling. “Nice try. Not falling for it.”
[No seriously you idiot look behind you!!]
“Wait, what? Is there like a ghost or something? Sorry, but I’m not five anymore.”
Sure, ghosts creeped him out a little, but he wasn’t the type to get spooked by every prank from his chat.
[YOU DUMBASS IT’S NOT A GHOST, IT’S ANABELLE!!]
Reading those words, his smile instantly vanished. His body froze as his heart dropped before his brain even caught up.
His neck creaked as he turned, stiff and slow like a door about to fall apart, cold sweat trickling down his face.
Annabelle, her brightly colored hair cascading down, had appeared out of nowhere and was staring down at him. Her head tilted unnaturally, expression disturbingly blank.
Thud.
Something dropped lightly onto his head.
Shaking and trembling, he picked it up.
[Let’s play.]
His face turned ghostly pale.

Aaaahhh!!!

The webcam shook violently, and as it toppled over, the last thing the viewers saw was Moderation being dragged away by Annabelle, kicking and flailing as he disappeared from view.
* * *
Once he came to his senses, the first thing he saw was Annabelle across from him rocking back and forth in a chair. She no longer had the creepy face from earlier; she looked like a beautiful elf.
However, that wasn’t what mattered. What mattered was that she was there watching over him, and he knew exactly what that meant.
He lifted his head in panic and saw a pretty girl with a sweet expression resting her chin on her hand, staring straight across at him from the chair.
“E... Eva?”
“Moderation, it’s the first time we’ve met in person, right?”
“How did you... find this place?”
“From your stream. Everyone would know where you are just from watching your stream.”
He knew she was lying.
He shook his head hard. “C-Can you get me out of these restraints now?”
“That?” Evangeline glanced sideways.
He didn’t know what the pitch-black rope binding him was made of, but one thing was clear—nothing good would happen if he stayed tied up.
“Moderation, why did you do that to me?” Evangeline asked with an empty expression.
‘Getting taken down during a livestream. What the hell is going on?’
Suddenly, his eyes widened and he turned his head sharply. The stream he’d been running just moments before was paused.
He knew he was screwed. If the situation continued, he knew there’d definitely be rumors spreading by the next day.
Sure, Evangeline was a pretty girl. Still, he hadn’t forgotten that no matter how she looked, she was still a kid.
A few trash viewers would sometimes joke around with fake ship bait, but streamers who actually knew her, including Moderation himself, never crossed any lines.
However, she was sat in front of him and the stream was paused. Even if he hadn’t done anything, there was room for all kinds of misunderstandings.
He knew he had to calm her down before the situation escalated further.
‘Forget the viewers—the Saint of Tionis is going to rip my head off if I don’t do something right now.’
Just imagining what that overprotective father would do made his skin crawl.
Then, Evangeline, sitting quietly, asked again, “Why did you do that to me?”
Park Seung-Hyun put on a strained smile and tried to lighten the mood. “You... You insulted me, too.”
“Anabelle,” she said with a blank expression.
Anabelle tilted her head slightly, and the robot figures on the shelf began floating into the air.
“W-Wait! Eva! Let’s just calm down and set those down first, okay?”
“Moderation. Why did you do that to me?”
Her hollow question made his eyes dart around in panic. He started to think maybe it was wrong to tease her, especially after she had blown all the allowance she’d saved up and ended up stuck going free-to-play.
He lowered his head.
“I’m sorry. Oppa was wrong. So can you please just...”
“Then I get to take revenge too, right?”
“W-What are you trying to do?”
“Dad said that, if I really wanted to get back at someone awful, I should use this.”
A black mist began to swirl in her hand. It was a dark, orb-shaped energy mass.
“W-What is that?”
“Dad called it the Root Eradication Curse.”
His jaw dropped. “W-Wait, are you trying to... turn me bald or something?!”
Evangeline looked at him with her empty gaze, then slowly parted her lips. “Why wouldn’t I?”
Park Seung-Hyun went pale, and his scream echoed throughout the house.
The next day, a notice went up on his channel.
- Due to personal reasons, the stream will be on break for a week. See you later~
Meanwhile, Evangeline had returned to her stream, beaming with satisfaction.
“Okay! Time to draw! I’ve got a collab coming up with some other streamers at the convention, so I need to practice a lot until then. Any drawing requests?”
[Moderation is on break... what the hell did you do to him...]

Hmm?
I don’t know what you’re talking about?”
