The Max Level Hero Has Returned!-Chapter 1234

Chapter 1234
There were many members of the Bosta Kingdom’s royal family. Vasilion le Bosta was the youngest of the princes.
“Your Highness, the suspension of that Count Chyde's disgraceful heir has about a month left.”
Despite his soft appearance, the boy spoke in a chilling voice as he sat in a rocking chair, swirling a glass of wine with a sly grin. “Is the hearing already prepared?”
“Yes. It seems like the Seven Star Professors and the student council have essentially made their decision. They’re still stuck between calling it a hearing or a trial, but the outcome won’t change.”
Truthfully, Vasilion was surprised when he’d heard Mit Chyde had survived the ordeal. If Mit Chyde survived and then pointed to him as the one who tried to assassinate him, it would’ve become a major hassle. Vasilion had no idea how someone on the verge of death had managed to survive, yet the result was undeniable.
He had survived, somehow.
So, Vasilion moved quickly to protect himself. Before Mit could make a move, he manipulated the Seven Star Professors and the student council. He pretended to show mercy, pretending to care for a friend, and thereby delayed the decision on Mit’s punishment.
It was all a method for buying himself time to destroy the evidence and thoroughly drag that loser to ruin.
He had told Mit Chyde he had done all of it just to have some fun. However, the truth was slightly different.
“I was a little surprised when I heard that the guy came back alive, but we were faster, weren’t we?”
The person kneeling before Vasilion bowed his head. “Just as you said, we’ve covered all the bases. No one will believe a word Mit Chyde says. Once his suspension ends, with our preparations already complete, we’ll summon him to the hearing and finish it there.”
“Good. Anything else?”
“No, Your Highness. The Chyde family will be buried in debt. When the time comes, all you have to do is extend a hand, and Count Chyde’s household will be yours.”
The Count Chyde family was protected not just by the Bosta Kingdom but also a continental treaty, due to their cultivation of Sacred Grass.
Once his plan succeeded, Vasilion could take hold of the Chyde family—an untouchable house even the royal family wouldn’t normally dare to interfere with.
“This will be a major stepping stone toward Your Highness becoming the next king. Congratulations!”
“It’s nothing. I’m glad we had such a disgraceful delinquent around. His other brothers are all so proper that it was too hard to deal with them. How could a dog be born from a tiger?” Innocent face twisted in venom, he stood from his seat. “I’m looking forward to this.”

Ummm.
There's something else, Your Highness.”
“What is it?”
“There is one potential variable... A risk, I’d say.”
“The Veil of Truth?”
The man nodded.
“Don’t worry. There’s no way a 1st Circle mage can use an artifact like that which requires at least a 3rd Circle mage.”
“Still...”
“If he had the talent to reach the 3rd Circle in less than a month, he wouldn’t have been crawling around as a 1st Circle mage all this time. Don’t worry about it.”
Vasilion was woefully unaware of just who had come to be at Mit’s side.
* * *
The eldest son of Count Chyde, Taph, ultimately stepped back from the conflict.
Josiah had made a bet with him. If she won, she had asked for a small amount of Sacred Grass, something the Chyde family still had in relative abundance.
Naturally, he’d initially wanted to refuse. Yet for some reason, after glancing once at his younger sibling, he eventually accepted her request.
Still, clover words didn’t make the situation any easier for Josiah. Even as a Vampire Lord, she was only around the level of a 4th or 5th Circle mage. As such, she was still clumsy in imparting certain knowledge.
Mit’s growth had proven slower than expected. She calmly analyzed the incomprehensible parts that arose from her teachings, then decided to take a different approach.
Using the reverse summoning circle, she returned to Heins Academy, unhesitatingly walking straight to the lord’s manor.
The manor was a place even royalty had difficulty visiting. Yet to her, it didn’t matter. After all, she had already snuck in more than a dozen times just to drink Davey’s blood.
“Oh my! Assistant Professor Josiah, what are you doing here? Should I inform His Highness?”
“No, I’m not here to see him.”
“Then...?”
“Please let me meet Sister Per.”
The rabbitfolk maid tilted her head. “The lady is in the garden right now. Shall I guide you to her?”
“Please.”

Huh?
It’s Hosiah!!” Just then, far off in the distance, Red Ribbon came running with her tiny body, her feet pattering rapidly.
Blue Ribbon ran behind her with Darian on her back. “Josiah!!”
“Red Ribbon, Blue Ribbon!! How have you been?”
“Good! Really good! We were playing with Darian!”
When Josiah looked at their bright smiles, she tilted her head slightly. She had heard that the exam results came out a few days ago, with Super Ribbon having passed. She figured they had come back after completing it.
“Josiah! Want some?” Red Ribbon suddenly opened the pouch at her waist and pulled out a skewer of rice cakes. “I saved it just for you!”

Wow,
it looks delicious? Can I really have one?”
“Yeah! Eat!”
Seeing her bright smile and feeling a bit hungry herself, Josiah gladly took a bite.
Of course, Josiah was also a bit of an eccentric wildcard. After watching her devour three out of the five skewers, Red Ribbon’s eyes widened in shock.
“T-Two... There’s only two left...” She trembled as if she didn’t want to believe it. On the verge of tears, she nonetheless forced a smile. “I-It’s okay... Red Ribbon is okay...”
Despite her words, her tiny body trembled as if she were about to burst into tears at any moment.
If things kept up, Red Ribbon would cry. Once that happened, it would only be a matter of time before Davey found out.
Josiah’s mind raced. She quickly fumbled at her waist, then pulled out a large box from her space-expanding pouch and handed it to Red Ribbon. “Red Ribbon! Eat this!”

Hmm?
” Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked up with a confused expression.
“It’s a snack I obtained with great difficulty from the Western Continent. It’s your first time seeing it, right? It’s so good, even royalty don’t get to eat it easily—the production process is just that complicated.”
Red Ribbon’s eyes widened. “R-Really? Red Ribbon can eat it?”
“Of course!” Josiah wiped cold sweat from her brow while crying blood inside.
‘I waited months just to eat this...’
“But, Josiah, why did you come here?”

Oh
, I came to see Sister Per.”

Hehe.
Ladies, would you like to come along?”
The rabbitfolk maid smiled gently, and Blue Ribbon, with Darian on her back, nodded vigorously. “Yeah! I wanna go!”
No one would possibly ever think those two adorable children were the greatest swords on the continent.
Following Red Ribbon and Blue Ribbon, who were giggling and taking quick little steps, Josiah walked into the beautiful garden. There she saw Yuria, Rinne, and Marky sitting at a table.

Huh?
Where’s Sister Per?”
“She left for the Divine Tree's Land with Gracious Savior.”
“The Divine Tree's Land? Why there?”
“They say Lady Reina’s condition has been a little strange lately.”
Josiah recalled Reina, who had come alone and then quietly left again. She had seemed like the usual Reina, yet after returning from the Nacha Empire, there had been a subtle shift in the atmosphere around her. It was something even Josiah had noticed.
Leisurely taking a sip of her tea, Yuria clapped her hands.

Oh
, right! Since you're here, would you like a cup?” Yuria offered.
Josiah’s expression twisted ever so slightly. “This isn’t... another one of your weird brews, is it?”
“Don’t worry. It’s made with berries.” She clearly had the attitude that she wouldn’t mind brewing insect wings as long as it tasted good.
Blue Ribbon, still carrying Darian, looked around and asked. “
Blegh.
Where’s Mommy?”
Rinne gave a nod. “Rinne s she’s not in the lord’s manor right now.”
“Blue Ribbon doesn’t want to be here...” Face welling up with tears, she walked off with Darian still on her back.
Red Ribbon pouted, then turned around and toddled after her.
“They don’t seem to cling to you as much lately, Rinne.”
Rinne shivered and shook her head fiercely. “I heard you went to the Bosta Kingdom for a bit. How did things go?”
“Well... things didn’t go as smoothly as I’d hoped.”
Yuria and Rinne exchanged a brief glance.
“Really? Do you need help?”
“Teacher said he absolutely wouldn’t get involved in this matter himself. Since I can’t make any more progress alone, I thought I’d seek advice from someone else.”
Yuria quietly closed her eyes. “Then I think our Gourmet Research Society and you might have a really good point of connection...”
Yuria licked her lips as her eyes gleamed. “We’ll help. However, in return, if whatever you’re trying to do succeeds, could you do us a favor?”

Hmmm.
That was easy. What do you want?”
Yuria handed over a small, empty blood pack. “This is the kind of pack you use to store Gracious Savior’s blood, isn’t it?”
“Where did you get this...?” Josiah questioned her.
“You’ll just have to share a little bit of his blood with us if we help successfully. What do you think?”
Those Gourmet Research Society lunatics still hadn’t given up on researching Davey’s blood.

Ummm.
I’ve heard of this before, but... mixing human blood into food? Do you really want to eat that? Isn’t that basically cannibalism?”

Hmm.
Then what would that make you, Josiah?”
“Why are you saying it like I’m a cannibal?” Josiah started to wonder if those lunatics were seriously thinking about experimenting with blood.
“For the record, I don’t go around eating people either.”
In the awkward silence, Yuria gave a serious nod. “You’re right. From that perspective, experimenting with blood might be a little much.”
It seemed like the conversation was about to fizzle out, yet Yuria had no intention of giving up.
“Then I guess the deal’s off...”
Thump!
Josiah slammed the table and angrily shouted, “Why are you like this?! I know how wide the Gourmet Research Society’s network is.”
“Well, we won’t be compensated for it.”
“Can’t you just help me out a bit?!”
Hearing her plea, Yuria fell into deep thought for a while. “
Hmmm,
well, our Gourmet Research Society is very meticulous about compensation...”
Josiah played her trump card. “If you keep pushing it, I might just tell Teacher you guys are planning to do something with his blood. Once that happens, all the research funding you’ve been getting? You may as well consider it gone.”
* * *
In the end, Josiah successfully secured the cooperation of the Gourmet Research Society, and she could feel things falling into place as planned.
Although none of the members were mages, they held a surprisingly wide network of connections cultivated through their unique activities.
With their help, she’d be able to get in touch with various mages and possibly receive some assistance.
Her ideal plan had been to borrow some of Perserque’s power and skill as one of the highest-ranking mages aside from Davey. Yet, since she was away at the Divine Tree's Land with Davey, getting her help was off the table.
“Well, since we’ve agreed to take part, we may as well do it right.”
However, there was something Josiah Francis had failed to consider about the members.
“Real combat experience! Rinne evaluates real combat experience highly.”
“How about medicinal enhancement? Based on my research, there are quite a few foods that help mages with their mana flow and circle activation. I’ve already tested the effects, so they’re reliable.”
“What if we induce hallucinations to force a placebo effect?”
Those lunatics knew exactly what kind of help Josiah needed, yet had no intention of actually providing it.
Instead of leveraging their wide network, they started tossing out bizarre suggestions, practically experimenting on Mit. They were basically treating him as some kind of test subject they needed to enhance.
Unfortunately, Josiah’s own magical level wasn’t high enough to fully counter their opinions either. She thus lacked the grounds to argue effectively.
“Hin mana flow is what’s not up to snuff, right? Then let’s start with this.” Yuria pulled out a strange-looking herb from the small bag she always carried.
“I’ve never seen that before,” Josiah commented.
“It’s a toxic plant you’ll only find in eleven territories across the entire world. Pretty rare.”
She nonchalantly held up the poisonous herb in both hands, studying it before placing one back in her bag and pulling out a strange lump.
Josiah didn't recognize the new material either. “What’s that?”
“It’s a slime core, fermented using a special method. It tastes awful, but it makes you hypersensitive to mana.” She’d spent a long time doing maniacal things, claiming to create food that was both tasty and good for the body.
As someone who would use anything as long as it tasted good, her database of ingredients had reached nearly legendary levels.
“Alright... Let’s try feeding him this,” Yuria decided.
“Is it... safe to eat?”
“Don’t worry. It won’t kill him.”
Josiah, a genius mage yet still immature, joined hands with the ultimate eccentrics of the Gourmet Research Society. Together, they began
reconstructing
Mit.

Uuuugh. Bleeergh!!

As expected from a recipe that sacrificed taste for effectiveness, Mit Chyde rolled on the ground in agony after swallowing the soup made from poison herbs and fermented slime core. He didn’t even have the strength to scream or shout, simply groaning.
“Looks like it was a failure.”
“Don’t experiment on him! And this was obviously going to happen!”
“Come now, you weren’t so sure earlier, were you? Still, if we’re just looking at the outcome, it’s not a total failure. His mana sensitivity clearly increased, didn’t it? Look at the increased mana flow!”

Hmmm.
Now that you mention it, I do feel like he can control it a bit better in this state...”
Unlike Yuria, who only focused on measurable results, Josiah, as a mage herself, reacted more sensitively to the flow of mana that Mit Chyde emitted.
Bit by bit, she began catching hints of something she hadn’t seen before. Things only Davey had ever noticed.
“So that’s it... This is why he couldn’t understand it before!”
Thanks to Yuria’s bizarre antics, Josiah slowly began to identify the flaws in her own approach. That change became the stepping stone for his explosive growth, also serving as the catalyst for her own development.
She subconsciously began to break through her own biases and assumptions, starting to grow as a mage.
“All done? Then how about trying this next one? It actually tastes pretty decent.”

Oh,
this one doesn't look that bad at all. What’s it made of?”
“Mucus from a kraken fish and the inner oils of a red tail fish...”

Bleeergh!!

Of course, no matter how good the results were, her deranged ingredient choices still couldn’t be redeemed.
