The Rules of Blood-Volume Two ; Chapter 66 (282) - Celine, Blanc's Letter
After reading Velakia’s letter, Celine felt obligated to share it with Miyanna.
For a few minutes after reading it, Miyanna stood silent, watching the wooden table, not sure what to make of what she had just read.
“Explain it to me, Celine. What did she mean she lost control?” Miyanna finally spoke.
With a sad smile, Celine began explaining.“When a normal person does not have what they require to survive, think food, water, and sleep, what usually happens is that they gradually lose energy while their body begins to deteriorate or eat itself until, after a while, they die. But a person who has Raw Vita acts a bit differently. Before their bodies start to deteriorate, the beasts inside take over, trying to survive. If they are alone when that happens, they usually start to kill to survive, but if they aren’t alone, what happens is making sure an offspring is being made before they start to deteriorate and die.”
“So they fucked because their bodies said so,” Miyanna clenched her jaw.
“It was instinct, so I can’t blame them for that,” Celine sat deeper into her chair, a hand on her forehead, “The first time it happened at least.”
“Fuck,” Miyanna sighed, slapping the table, “I swear I will kill that fucker when he comes back.”
“You know it wasn’t his fault,” Celine defended Blanc, “Either way, do you remember our conversation back in the Jaguar Path?”
“What conv-... ah, yes, I remember it,” Miyanna sighed, “...Wait, can you see into the future?”
“I can not,” Celine replied, “But I can understand this is an opportunity.”
“What a weird fucking thing to say,” Miyanna slapped the table, enraged, “When our husband just fucked another woman.”
“Anger will do you no good, sister,” Celine replied, trying to calm her down.
And just by Vita’s grace, the opportunity presented itself to Celine.
“Besides,” she said, pointing with her head towards a corner of the mansion, where, behind the glass window, Lucien and the Daughter stood, having a conversation, “Let us not act like saints when it was we who sold the body of our husband in the first place, and not just once, but over twenty times, haven’t we?”
Miyanna sighed, sitting back down on her chair, “But we did it for the Blood.”
“And this, too, can be used for the Blood,” Celine replied, “She is not of this land, and will leave once Blanc’s journey is over. We can leave it at that and be done with it as the first of many mistakes Blanc would surely make over the course of his long life, but you have to face that it’s also an opportunity.”
“My head hurts,” Miyanna muttered, pressing down on her forehead, “Especially since it really is the first mistake Blanc has made.”
“Let’s give the man the opportunity to explain himself first,” Celine nodded, “We wait for his letter and see what he says before we start throwing curses in his way, okay?”
“I will kill him regardless,” Miyanna muttered, grabbing the teacup.
“Stop lying to yourself, sister,” Celine giggled, “You will be first to jump in his arms when you see him, pregnant as you are.”
“Hm,” Miyanna sniffed, her cheeks crimson.
Well done, my love. How I wish you were here so I could kiss you now,
Celine said to herself, as if Blanc could hear it; several plans were already starting to take shape inside her head.
She wasn’t the Daughter of Blood Maroux for nothing.
Two days later, on the fifty-seventh day of Blanc’s journey, in the early hours of the morning, another letter arrived at the Domain of Blood Maroux.
This time, however, the messenger was happy to give it to the first person he saw.
Which, coincidentally, was Sophie, her golden yellow eyes hungry to see what was inside the envelope.
This narrative has been purloined without the author's approval. any appearances on Amazon.
With a quick look around to ensure nobody was there to see her pick it up, she quickly rushed to her room, where, with a knife so as not to break the wax seal, she removed it carefully, took the folded parchment out of it, and began reading through the text at an incredible speed.
The grin that formed on her face as she kept on reading was a beautiful sight for the eyes of many.
“How devious of you, Brother-in-Law, I did not know you were so lustful,” she whispered, giggling to herself as she folded the parchments and placed them carefully back inside, “I will wait for your safe return.”
After she was done, she took a still-burning candle from her table, and with the precision of healers, melted part of the wax just enough to seal the envelope again, but not enough to ruin the sigil on top of it.
Once it dried up and the envelope was properly sealed, she left her room and went looking for Celine and Miyanna, her walk in a quick rush, as if she had just received an urgent letter.
She couldn’t help but grin the entire way to their room, her golden yellow eyes glistening with a weird sense of joy.
She knocked at the door.
“Who is it?” Celine’s voice echoed from inside, as she and Miyanna were getting dressed, still half-asleep after a night together.
“It’s me, sister. Something else came in your name,” Sophie replied from behind the door, “It just arrived.”
“Come in,” Celine replied, her eyes wide.
The door opened lightly with Sophie entering the next moment, a sealed envelope in hand, her face straight, somewhat tired.
“You look like you haven’t slept, little sister,” Celine said, walking towards her, “Is it Olivia again?”
“Not sure, did not look inside as they barely gave it to me,” Sophie looked at the envelope, before offering it to the approaching Celine, “But once I told him he had to wait a few hours if that were the case, he gave it to me quickly.”
“You enjoy fooling with people,” Celine sighed, taking the envelope from her sister’s hands, “Let’s see…”
Celine took a seat, took the parchments from the inside, and looked quickly over the contents.
Once done, she folded the parchments and placed them on the table.
“This Olivia and her poor attempts at planning ahead,” she sighed, pouring some tea into her cup.
“Is she still trying to convince you two?” Sophie giggled, “What is the gift this time? Another carriage?”
“Only words,” Celine replied, getting to her feet, “But now, if you will excuse us, Sophie. Miyanna and I need to prepare ourselves for breakfast.”
“Certainly, sister,” Sophie nodded, before bowing lightly towards Miyanna, “Sister Miyanna.”
Once Miyanna nodded in her direction, she turned on her heels and was out the door by the next moment.
A minute after Sophie left, Celine took the four parchments again, this time actually reading the contents inside.
Her sapphire blue eyes took in every word Blanc wrote on it.
“My love,” Celine muttered while reading the letter.
“It’s Blanc? I almost believed you when you said it was Olivia again,” Miyanna’s eyes widened, rushing towards the table.
“It’s him, and…” Celine lost her words as she kept on reading, “And he feels guilty.”
“As he should,” Miyanna nodded, satisfied.
“Overall, the first part of the letter is the same thing Velakia said in hers.” Celine concluded after reading the letter, “Meaning she really sent it in secret.”
“And the second part?” Miyanna asked curiously.
Celine giggled, “An addition to the love letter from before.”
“The bastard dares to send a love letter in between apologizing for what he had done?” Miyanna replied, baffled, “The balls on this guy.”
“So, does that mean you do not want to read it?” Celine grinned, “I can keep it for myself then.”
“Hold on now,” Miyanna muttered, placing her hand forward, “Give it to me.”
“Hmmm, I wonder now,” Celine placed the parchment atop her nose, before her eyes went wide as she sniffed the parchment, “It even smells like him.”
That was all it took for Miyanna to get on her feet and snatch the parchment from her hand.
Without even reading it, Miyanna took the paper and placed it under her nose.
With each sniff she took, she only got more and more embarrassed, “Liar.”
“Haha,” Celine began laughing, “You should’ve seen the look on your face.”
“And you dared accuse your sister of fooling with people,” Miyanna sighed, unfolding the paper and reading its contents.
Celine placed both elbows on the table and placed her head in between her hands as she watched Miyanna read the letter, laugh, half-cry, curse, laugh, then read the letter again.
As Celine watched Miyanna start reading the letter a third time, she began thinking about the letter as a whole.
It was obvious that Blanc was honest; it was obvious he regretted it; and it was obvious he did not understand how the heart works, as he promised them over seven times he would not do it again.
But Celine knew Blanc. She knew his feeble yet strong heart. She knew his mind and how he thought. She knew his body and his limitations. She knew his lust, for she and Miyanna were the ones who gave it to him, who made him how he was.
And most of all, she knew her husband and the type of man he was. The care he had for those he loved and those he wanted to help.
She knew he would not keep that empty shell of a promise.
All she could hope was that Velakia would keep her own promise in protecting him.
Show me you are as good a woman as I think you are now, Velakia,
Celine spoke in her mind, hoping that somehow, Velakia would hear her.
