The Rules of Blood-Volume Two ; Chapter 76 (292) - Where Blood Meets Blood
As his older sister began crying, he could only hug her tightly, hoping that his tears would remain where they were.
“Shhh,” Blanc muttered, “All will be well.”
Aidan scoffed, “A twenty-year-old woman crying like a child.”
Blanc closed his eyes, pressing his lips against her hair, before letting go of Sera and getting up for a moment.
“Blanc?” Sera sniffed, looking towards him.
“A moment, sister,” Blanc smiled, before turning towards Aidan.
“Shut your mouth, or I will shut it for you,” Velakia threatened, daggers at the ready.
“I’m just stating the obvious,” Aidan shrugged, “And I can’t wait to see what my mother would say when she sees how the start of the nego-”
A punch across Aidan’s jaw sent the man up a foot into the air, before he fell to the ground, passed out.
“My negotiations are with your mother, not you, you useless excuse of a man.” Blanc clenched his jaw, looking at the young man who had fainted at his feet.
“That would do it,” Velakia giggled, sheathing her daggers.
It was the seventieth day of Blanc’s journey on the day he finally reunited with Sera.
After their victory against the pack of Ignilupus three days ago, and after successfully harvesting all that they’ve killed, they continued on their journey.
A journey that had become a lot easier and more comfortable against the uncomfortable heat now that they had a new Mark on their bodies.
Especially for Blanc, with a new Black Mark deep into his soul, and somewhere… deep inside his body.
On the sixty-eighth day, they had drawn close to the first of the battlefields still raging in the distance.
By evening, they had infiltrated the camp of Blood Seraph and secured the aid of one of the Matriarch’s husbands, who, unable to leave the battlefield, sent word ahead to his wife, and granted Blanc, Velakia, Tahreni, and Lendros free passage into the Domain.
But when Blanc’s eyes fell on the scene before him, his sister on the ground, the man meant to protect her poised to take her head, something in him snapped.
Even now, as he stood over the unconscious man, rage still bubbled in his chest. It took every ounce of restraint not to kill him then and there, but doing so would have doomed them all to the wrath of Blood Seraph.

Still, he made a promise to himself that he, and he alone, would be the one to kill the horned bastard when the right time came.
Until then, he still had to check on his sister.
“Sera,” he approached her again, “Are you all right?”
Sera’s hand reached his face, tears making the white of her eyes a shade of red, “I wanted to die, little brother. I was tired.”
Blanc stood silent, a piece of his heart visibly breaking at his sister’s words.
But Sera continued, “Do you remember the promise we made when Grandpa died?”
“That you will not leave me alone?” Blanc smiled sadly, his eyes barely containing the tears.
“Yes,” she mirrored his smile faintly, “That’s the only thing that kept me here until now.”
“Thank you for holding on for so long, sister,” Blanc replied, “I will take you home soon.”
“Is everybody okay?” Sera asked.
Blanc sighed, “All but Father and Valar, they were captured and are still held somewhere out there. The rest are in the Domain of Blood Maroux.”
Sera’s breath shuddered before changing the subject, not wishing to linger on that sadness for too long. Not now, at least.
“And your wife? Where is she?” she asked.
“Celine? She is with Miyanna and the rest of the Blood, taking care of her pregnancy,” Blanc explained.
“Pregnant? Miyanna?” Sera muttered with a sniff, confused, “Who is Miyanna? And will you have a kid?”
“Two kids,” Blanc nodded, the sad smile from earlier now a wide grin, “Since Miyanna, my second wife, is pregnant too.”
Sera was confused, still not believing Blanc was really in front of her.
In a way, deep down in her heart, she was somewhat jealous of her younger brother, who, while she suffered, lived a better life than she did.
And who could blame her for it?
But that smile of his… told her all she needed to know.
He loved and needed them, yet he was still here, away from his wives, from his unborn kids, to take her home.
She couldn’t be angry at that.
She could only be happy that someone cared for her younger brother better than she ever could.
Velakia groaned, palm to her face. “Is this really the moment to dump all of that on her, my dear?”
“I wanted to change the subject and lighten the mood a little bit,” Blanc explained, “Some good may wash away some of the bad, no?”
“My dear?” Sera repeated, glancing between them. “May I ask, who are you to my brother?”
“Well… It’s complicated,” Velakia sighed, “We can talk later about it.”
“That would be for the best,” Blanc got to his feet, looking in the distance, “She is here.”
As Blanc said that, Velakia, Sera, Tahreni, and Lendros turned to look at the lizard-drawn carriage approaching, and the riders behind it as they rushed in their direction.
“Shall we prepare for battle, just in case?” Velakia asked, turning towards Blanc.
“No need,” Blanc unsheathed his sword, before stepping on Aidan’s neck, and holding the tip of his sword above his heart, “This is threatening enough.”
First to stop were the riders, then the carriage once it got about a hundred feet away from Blanc and the rest.
A door on each side of the carriage opened, and from inside two women came out.
Both had red hair and red eyes.
And it would have been quite difficult to differentiate between the two if not for the horns growing from one’s forehead, while the other looked emotionless towards the corpses on the ground.
“Matriarch of Blood Seraph, Daughter,” Blanc bowed lightly, “I wished we could have met under better circumstances.”
“So did I, Lord Blanc,” Fiamma, Aidan’s mother, spoke, “But it would only get worse if you do not release my son this instant.”
“I would have, really, if he were not about to behead my sister, the woman you promised to care for as if she were your daughter,” Blanc smiled sarcastically, rage barely contained. “So you see, as I cannot release your kindhearted son. Matter of fact, why not start the negotiations now, and all of us could be on our way?”
