Chapter 455

Chapter 455: Chapter 404 He Must be Angry_2
"Is it too late to say these things now?" Bai Chengxi held a cigarette in his mouth, appearing casual but the light flashing in his eyes was almost ruthless, "You’ve done everything I loathe the most, and coincidentally, I’m in a very bad mood today."
"Mr. Bai, please forgive me this time. I was momentarily confused by someone from Orange Light, rest assured, I will never do such foolish things again." Xixiao was truly desperate because she had never seen such a profound and terrifying look in Bai Chengxi’s eyes before.
"Alright, no need to say more, leave now." Bai Chengxi pressed the intercom, "Assistant Lin, please escort Miss Xi out."
"No, Mr. Bai, give me another chance." Xixiao didn’t expect this to be the outcome, she was almost certain she would snag that role, but in the end, she failed miserably. She firmly believed Bai Chengxi meant what he said, and her prospects at Stardust were probably doomed. Not only that, if Bai Chengxi wasn’t pleased, she would be treading on thin ice in this industry.
Xixiao was quickly escorted out of the office while Bai Chengxi stood by the floor-to-ceiling window smoking, his mood more depressed than ever, all because Zhuo Yuqing had returned to her parents’ home behind his back.
He never knew his mood could be so influenced by her every word and action. When she laughed, he wanted to laugh with her; when she was sad, he felt the grief. Now suddenly feeling abandoned, he was actually a bit saddened, feeling as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out, leaving an empty space.
After standing for a long time, he finally called his assistant in: "Book me a ticket to City A for tomorrow."
Zhuo Yuqing slept in and went shopping with Qiao San after eating.
Her laziness was solely because she hadn’t slept well the previous night. Lying on the familiar bed, she ought to have felt at ease, but the thought of Bai Chengxi far away in Aus City sapped all her good mood. Repeatedly, she picked up her phone wanting to send him a message, but courage failed her every time.
She believed that he must be very angry now.
Because she thought of his displeasure, her mood was also gloomy, finding no joy in fun or tasty sights. She kept thinking, what might Bai Chengxi be doing now? What had he eaten for breakfast? Was he still working?
"Qingzi." Qiao San called her three times, but she did not react until she finally had to pat her shoulder, "Qingzi, what are you thinking about?"
Zhuo Yuqing was startled and looked at her somewhat blankly: "What’s wrong, mom?"
Qiao San looked helpless: "Let’s have pizza for lunch."
"Anything is fine."
"Let’s go to that pizza place." Qiao San took her hand, and the two entered a pizza shop in the mall.
Zhuo Yuqing felt something was off, Qiao San seemed a bit unusual today, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on what it was until they had sat down in the shop for a while, then Zhuo Yuqing realized Qiao San’s true intention.
Zhuo Yuqing had just picked up the menu to order when she suddenly heard Qiao San warmly exclaim: "Ji Chen, what a coincidence that you’re here too?"
"Hello, Aunt Qiao." The man named Ji Chen carried an air of crisp freshness, with a clean and fair face, deep black eyes, a real handsome guy.
"Who is this?" Ji Chen’s gaze landed on Zhuo Yuqing’s face, visibly impressed. Zhuo Yuqing, having inherited her parents’ excellent genes, was always the center of attention wherever she went.
Before Zhuo Yuqing could react, Qiao San had already introduced: "This is my daughter Zhuo Yuqing, Yuqing, this is Ji Chen, the son of Aunt Sun, recently returned from abroad, now running his father’s company."
Zhuo Yuqing finally understood, Qiao San taking her shopping was a guise, her real purpose was to set her up on a blind date.
"Miss Zhuo, hello." Ji Chen politely extended his hand, his hand clean and lean, a sign of a nurtured and high-status life.
"Hello." Zhuo Yuqing quickly stood up to shake his hand, simultaneously pouting covertly at Qiao San. Receiving her daughter’s look, Qiao San playfully blinked. The couple before her seemed more and more well-matched.
Thankfully, she moved quickly and found such an excellent son-in-law candidate. After careful investigation, Ji Chen was not only handsome and gentlemanly but also kind and gentle, a man of integrity, and now successful in his career. If Yuqing could end up marrying him, she as a mother could finally rest easy.
Her thoughts differed from Zhuo Yao’s, who always treated his daughter like a child, wanting to keep her by his side at all times for fear others might mistreat or bully her. But a child’s happiness depended on their own pursuit; she couldn’t remain unmarried forever, not pursue her own sky.
Qiao San was indeed painstaking, so seeing the compatible impression these two young people made, she immediately felt entirely satisfied.
"Ji Chen, have you eaten?" Qiao San hurriedly asked.
"Not yet, I was about to invite Aunt Qiao and Miss Zhuo for a meal."
"You child, calling her Miss Zhuo is so formal, just call her Yuqing." Qiao San quickly winked at Zhuo Yuqing, "Qingzi, move inside, don’t you see Ji Chen still standing?"
Zhuo Yuqing, feeling helpless, moved one seat inside. Ji Chen smiled at her and then pulled his chair over to sit down.
He handed the menu to Zhuo Yuqing, "Order whatever you like without hesitation, though having pizza might be a bit simple, next time I’ll invite you and your aunt for some private kitchen cuisine, I know a place in City A that’s particularly authentic."
Zhuo Yuqing politely smiled and slowly started browsing the menu.
