Chapter 499

Chapter 499: Chapter 445 You Don’t Deserve Her
Tong Bi panicked at the sight of the situation, crying out, "Not only are you trespassing into a private residence, you even...".
"Shut her up." Bai Chengxi looked impatiently at his subordinates and lit a cigarette from his pocket. It had been a long time since he had smoked, and today was especially frustrating.
His past love affairs had been exposed, but he didn’t care, standing by the things he had done and ready to proclaim them to the world. What worried him was the impact of this incident on Zhuo Yuqing, so before these crazed netizens could launch verbal attacks on her, he had to suppress the incident.
Tong Bi’s mouth was covered by a hulking man’s palm, and her body, like a flailing fish, was pressed onto the cutting board, only able to whimper helplessly.
An assistant and two people searched thoroughly inside and outside the room, quickly finding some valuable items, including an envelope containing several photos, the same ones that had been widely spread online, as well as a check.
When Tong Bi saw these items thrown in front of her, her face turned green.
"How do you explain this?" Bai Chengxi sat down in front of the computer, took a drag of his cigarette, his face dark as if he had just weathered a storm.
Even now, Tong Bi was stubborn, attempting to argue: "These photos are just printouts I took from the internet."
"What about the check?" Bai Chengxi didn’t believe someone from her working-class background could have a seven-figure savings account.
Tong Bi, having already prepared her excuses, said dismissively, "What about it? Mr. Bai, you can’t possibly think I survive solely on my magazine job, can you? I’m young and attractive, any man I find would offer more than this sum."
Bai Chengxi looked at her, eyes laced with mockery, and turned to his assistant, "Show her the evidence."
"Yes." The assistant tossed the surveillance screenshots obtained from the internet café in front of Tong Bi: "This is from the internet café you visited, captured clearly on camera, and we also checked the computer you used to go online; with the ironclad evidence in front of you, don’t bother denying it."
Seeing those printouts, Tong Bi’s heart was aflutter with panic. She had thought her plan was foolproof, but in front of Bai Chengxi, it fell apart like a castle made of paper, easily destroyed.
"Speak up, who gave you these photos." Bai Chengxi raised the envelope in his hand, slightly narrowing his eyes, "You’d better satisfy me with your answer, otherwise...".
"I bought the photos." Tong Bi insisted, "I’ve been in this business for so long, I have many informants who provide me with various sorts of photos, I just bought these a few days ago."
"It seems you’re still unwilling to tell the truth." Bai Chengxi glanced at the half-smoked cigarette in his hand, then suddenly flicked it, sending the lit cigarette butt flying towards Tong Bi, hitting her right on the forehead.
"Ah." Tong Bi let out a pained scream after being burned.
"I never hit women, but it seems you’re the exception." Bai Chengxi stood up and walked out, instructing his men: "Since her mouth is so tough, beat her until she’s ready to talk."
"Yes."
After Bai Chengxi finished speaking, he walked out of the room and continued smoking in the corridor, with the door ajar. Eventually, her voice grew weaker and weaker, just intermittently repeating two words: I’ll talk, I’ll talk.
"Mr. Bai." The assistant came out to , "She’s willing to tell us everything."
Bai Chengxi was in no hurry. After finishing his cigarette, he leisurely walked back in. Tong Bi was slumped on the ground like a plucked hen, her face marred with crisscrossed finger marks, cheeks swollen beyond recognition, as if her mouth was stuffed with two large apples; her mouth corners were also split open, blood trickling down, and on the ground, there was even a pool of vomited blood water, in which lay a tooth.
Bai Chengxi glanced at her indifferently: "I already gave you a chance. As long as you stop causing trouble, for Yuqing’s sake, I will not pursue it any further. It seems, however, that you do not know gratitude but rather have escalated your efforts."
Tong Bi was so swollen she couldn’t even exhale properly, her eyes reduced to mere slits.
"Speak up, and don’t try to test my limits again."
After catching her breath, Tong Bi finally spoke: "It was Su Yingluo’s assistant, Xiao Lan, who approached me. She told me to figure out a way to release these photos. She also told me about the incident between you and Su Yingluo ten years ago. What I wrote was all from her, not my own fabrication. She added that if this was ever discovered, I had to swear not to expose Su Yingluo and insist that I had planned all this on my own."
"Do you have any proof?"
"I don’t have concrete evidence, but Xiao Lan came to find me at the magazine, and the front desk should have surveillance footage. Also, there must be her fingerprints on this envelope and photos." At this point, Tong Bi was not confused, knowing that Bai Chengxi was not someone easily dealt with. He might seem gentlemanly and courteous on the surface, but his ferocity was something to be truly feared.
Bai Chengxi knew all of these things that Tong Bi had mentioned. He was just looking for more direct evidence. Since there was none, he did not press further. He was certain that Tong Bi wasn’t lying this time.
When Bai Chengxi left, he took Tong Bi’s phone and computer along with those original photos.

Zhuo Yuqing had her meal and then watched the TV series Bai Chengxi had given her earlier. She listened to his advice and stayed off the internet, refrained from wild guessing, and left everything for him to handle.
Despite this, Zhuo Yuqing was somewhat distracted. She usually enjoyed this TV series a lot, but now she found her attention wandering frequently.
She had seen some of the comments online before; everyone was supporting Su Yingluo, condemning her as the "mistress." Even though her identity hadn’t been exposed yet, with the situation evolving as it was, it was bound to be dug up. She was in this line of work; she understood all too well. Soon, she would probably have to change her phone number and job. The power of netizens can be blind, but also immense.
After watching two episodes of the TV series, Zhuo Yuqing was about to go downstairs to grab something to eat when her phone suddenly rang. Seeing the caller ID, she mentally cursed, realizing her trouble. Her dad might not follow the news immediately, but her brother, Tang Tianyou, would hear of it very swiftly.
Zhuo Yuqing answered the call, pondering how to explain things to Tang Tianyou, but he didn’t beat around the bush and said directly, "I’m sending someone to pick you up."
"Huh?" Zhuo Yuqing was confused, "To where?"
"To leave Bai Chengxi." Tang Tianyou was gripping the steering wheel, driving at high speed. "Since he can’t clear up his involvement with his ex, he has no right to be involved with my sister. And this matter can’t end like this. I’m going to confront him for an explanation. How can someone mess with Tang Tianyou’s sister like that?"
"Brother, you’ve got it wrong," Zhuo Yuqing quickly attempted to explain, "things are not like you think..."
"I’ve seen him, we’ll talk later." Tang Tianyou ended the call then and there.
Zhuo Yuqing was stunned for a moment, then started shouting anxiously into the phone, "Bro, bro, who did you see? Hey, bro, listen to my explanation."
Hearing the dial tone indicating the call had ended, Zhuo Yuqing was beside herself with anxiety. "This is bad, this is bad. With the way he’s talking, like he’s out for vengeance, he’s probably going to find Bai Chengxi and fight him."
Zhuo Yuqing hurriedly dialed back, but Tang Tianyou did not answer the phone after a long wait.
She then tried calling Bai Chengxi, but no one answered either. Realizing something was wrong, Zhuo Yuqing couldn’t care less about the details and immediately put on a coat and rushed downstairs.
~
Bai Chengxi was just going back to the company to retrieve some things when, just as he got out of the car, someone came striding over from the side. Immediately, he felt punches beside his ear, and his face had already taken a blow.
With his car behind him, Bai Chengxi staggered back, leaning against it. He touched his nose and found it bleeding, not much. He wiped it with a finger before looking up at his assailant.
He knew this person, the renowned king of gambling in Aus City, a household name—Tang Tianyou.
Bai Chengxi had been in a hurry and had completely failed to notice him, much less expected him to strike. But Bai knew that something big must have happened for Tang Tianyou to come to him with fists swinging.
Bai Chengxi steadied his emotions and did not speak first, but Tang Tianyou did, bluntly asking, "From now on, you’re not allowed to have any involvement with my sister, you’re not worthy of her."
Sister?
Bai Chengxi quickly pieced it together, remembering how Zhuo Yuqing had mentioned a few times to him about her brother and how he was like this and that. When he went to her house, he saw only her younger brother and hadn’t noticed she had an older brother; he thought she meant several of her uncles. Besides, they should carry the last name Zhuo, not Tang.
"Bai Chengxi, I knew about your messy past long ago. I kept it from her to avoid upsetting Qingzi. Now, how will you explain it? Can’t forget your old flame, ready to abandon her?" Tang Tianyou, filled with righteous anger, continued, "Had I known it would come to this, why would you bother her? Do you know how much she likes you?"
Zhuo Yuqing’s smile that day was unforgettable for Tang Tianyou, his greatest wish being to see his sister happy.
So Bai Chengxi finally realized that Tang Tianyou was the brother Zhuo Yuqing often mentioned and the man who had repeatedly appeared in her social media circles. Perhaps, the man Zhuo Yuqing had a secret crush on was him?
"I have no intention of abandoning her," Bai Chengxi straightened up, feeling a vague pain in the corner of his mouth from being hit.
"Then how do you explain this mess? Could this negative news have been ed without your permission?"
"There are hidden factors at play, and I’m investigating," Bai Chengxi spoke honestly. "Once I get to the bottom of it, I will definitely bring justice to Yuqing. I won’t let anyone harm her. Whoever wishes to bring ill upon her, no matter who they are, won’t stop me from dragging them out from behind the curtain. I will protect Yuqing."
Tang Tianyou paused slightly, relaxing the fist he had clenched by his side as he looked at Bai Chengxi’s bloodied mouth.
Bai Chengxi continued, "Your punch was justified. If it wasn’t for my past, Yuqing wouldn’t be caught in such a whirlpool. Likewise, I’ll take care of this matter and give Yuqing a proper resolution, a resolution for all who care about her."
Tang Tianyou narrowed his eyes, his tightly clenched fist finally relaxing, "What’s your plan for resolving this?"
