Chapter 529

Chapter 529: Chapter 466 Man and Woman Alone_2
The woman saw Luo Shangqing about to leave and suggested, "I’m going back to my apartment, and I didn’t drive. Can you give me a ride?"
Luo Shangqing glanced at his watch: "Sorry, I don’t have time right now."
The woman didn’t expect him to refuse so directly. Although she was embarrassed, she resolutely maintained an indifferent attitude: "No worries, you go ahead with your tasks, we can meet some other day."
Mu Chenxi and Quan Jin parted ways at the subway station. She went to the business center, while she headed home.
After exiting the subway station, Mu Chenxi stood at the bus stop waiting for a bus while aimlessly looking at the missing dog notices posted at the platform. Seeing this family offering a large reward for their lost dog made her think of her own Kong Tai. If Kong Tai ever got lost, she would surely cry her eyes out.
A series of horn beeps interrupted her thoughts, and when she turned around, she saw a somewhat familiar black Audi parked beside her, attracting quite a few glances.
"Professor Luo?" Mu Chenxi exclaimed with joy upon seeing Luo Shangqing sitting in the driver’s seat. He didn’t speak but gestured through the glass window for her to hurry and get in the car.
Mu Chenxi quickly opened the car door and climbed in, placing her large backpack aside.
"Professor Luo, why are you in this area?" Mu Chenxi leaned forward between the front seats, tilting her head to look at him.
"I have some errands to run, and I just happened to see you waiting for the bus." Luo Shangqing drove away from the bus station and asked, "Exact address?"
"What?" Mu Chenxi blinked, pausing for half a minute before realizing what he meant. She hurriedly gave him her home address and then added worriedly, "If it’s out of your way, don’t bother. I can take the bus."
"It’s on the way," Luo Shangqing stated simply and then focused on driving.
Throughout the ride, Mu Chenxi was thinking about what conversation topic to bring up, as the atmosphere in the car felt too heavy. However, after racking her brain, she couldn’t think of an appropriate conversation starter and eventually dropped the idea, focusing instead on her phone.
Only when the car reached the building where she lived did Mu Chenxi pick up her backpack, "Professor Luo, thank you, I’m home."
"Do you have a charger on you?" Luo Shangqing suddenly turned and asked.
"No," Mu Chenxi shook her head, "Is your phone out of battery?"
"Yes, I have an important call to make soon." Luo Shangqing shook his head, "Never mind, I’ll manage when I get back."
"I have a spare charger at home, why not come up and charge for a bit?" After saying it, Mu Chenxi instantly regretted, thinking to herself: Luo Meijuan was working overtime at the company today, Mu Qihua was at the hospital, and she was alone at home. Inviting Professor Luo up so suddenly, was it too casual of her? After all, they would be alone together.
But what was said could not be unsaid, and Mu Chenxi’s regret was futile now, as Luo Shangqing had already opened the car door and gotten out, reluctantly uttering, "Alright then."
Mu Chenxi’s home was on the third floor. The building was over a decade old although somewhat old but kept very clean. The Mu Family had recently renovated it two years ago, and even the layout had been redesigned, making it hardly look like an old house.
"Professor Luo, these are my dad’s slippers, just bought and he’s never worn them," Mu Chenxi took a pair of black cotton slippers from shoe cabinet, placing them at the door, "What would you like to drink? I’ll get it for you."
"Mineral water is fine." Luo Shangqing put on the slippers and casually glanced at the small but cozy home—compared to his 200-square-meter apartment, this place had more of a homey feel, making it linger-worthy.
Mu Chenxi fetched a bottle of mineral water from the fridge and handed it to Luo Shangqing. As he reached to take it, his fingertips unintentionally grazed hers, causing Mu Chenxi to abruptly withdraw her hand, a blush creeping onto her face.
"I’ll go get the charger for you." Facing Luo Shangqing who acted as if nothing had happened, Mu Chenxi clearly couldn’t maintain her composure and made an excuse to escape the awkward situation.
Watching her hurriedly flee, Luo Shangqing chuckled softly, unscrewed the bottle of mineral water, and took a couple of gulps.
"Is this your room?"
Mu Chenxi was squatting in front of a cabinet, rummaging through for an unused charger when suddenly Luo Shangqing appeared at the doorway, his voice startling her. Suddenly, Luo Shangqing had stepped one foot into the room, surveying her surroundings.
Mu Chenxi’s thoughts raced to her disheveled bed, and she sprang up, regardless of propriety, pushed against Luo Shangqing’s chest, and rushed him out of the room: "Professor Luo, I’m changing clothes, please step out for a moment."
Luo Shangqing hadn’t reacted yet when the door slammed shut in front of him. He touched his nearly-hit nose, but what lingered in his view were the chaotic single bed, the wrinkled blanket curled together, and small undergarments and pink bras strewn by the bedhead, with a garbage bin full of snack packages on the floor.
In Luo Shangqing’s world, everything was orderly and systematic, his person and his home always spotless. Thus, such a messy bedroom was way beyond his acceptance threshold. Surprisingly, he felt no disgust or revulsion.
After a while, a sweaty Mu Chenxi opened the door, smiling sheepishly, "Professor Luo, I’ve changed. Here’s the charger, there’s a socket in the living room."
Luo Shangqing quickly glanced at her room again. Although the bed was now tidy, the slightly ajar cabinet revealing a messy pile still betrayed her.
He struggled to hold back his laughter while taking the charger: "Thank you."
Luo Shangqing’s phone was charging, and he sat on the sofa, his long legs leisurely crossed, flipping through a medical magazine.
Mu Chenxi felt antsy. Although she had always dreamed of sharing the same roof with her idol, now that the moment had arrived, she became so nervous she was at a loss for words.**
