Chapter 552

Chapter 552: Chapter 483: Behind the Success_2
The female teacher quickly posted a message on her social circle with her cellphone: Professor Luo just smiled at me, I feel so blessed.
After hearing Chenxi’s explanation, even Luo Shangqing didn’t realize he was in a good mood, although he knew that sometimes Chenxi might not tell the truth, he believed her this time, and was particularly gratified that she had booked a seat to attend his lecture.

After countless failures, Chenxi began to feel disheartened, thinking she might really not be cut out for this and that giving up early would be wise.
She arrived at the lab with her backpack early when there were hardly any people around.
She opened her locker as usual and checked the survival state of the cells, and just when she thought it was another failed experiment, the unexpected success caught her off guard—the cells cultured three days ago had all survived.
"Could I have seen it wrong?" Chenxi rubbed her eyes forcefully and double-checked. When she saw those vibrant cells, she was so happy she could have danced with joy; it turned out that persistence does pay off, and she had actually succeeded.
"Guys, I did it, I really did it!" Chenxi promptly took out her phone and shared the good news in the group chat.
At that moment, Qiao Tong walked in with a companion and felt a sudden ominous premonition upon seeing Chenxi’s joyful demeanor.
"Chenxi, what are you laughing about?" Qiao Tong approached her, frowning.
Chenxi put her phone back in her pocket and scoffed, "What does my laughter have to do with you?"
"Could it be, could it be that your experiment was successful?" Qiao Tong looked at her incredulously, "How could someone like you succeed?"
She had spent over a month still unable to grasp the intricacies of the experiment, always falling just a step short of success, and it was this step that hindered her progress.
The more Chenxi behaved, the more uneasy Qiao Tong felt; she was almost certain that Chenxi really had succeeded, and she couldn’t believe that she’d lose to someone of such low academic standing. How could this be possible?
As Chenxi was about to leave with her backpack, Qiao Tong suddenly grabbed it, "Chenxi, did you really succeed?"
Chenxi looked down at her hand: "Let go."
"If you succeeded, then say so. What are you afraid of? Or did you use some unfair means?" Qiao Tong sneered, "Considering your level, how could you possibly carry out such a difficult experiment?"
"Whether I succeeded or not is none of your business. Believe it if you want, or just drop it," said Chenxi, slapping her hand away, "I’m going to eat now, don’t spoil my appetite."
"Chenxi, don’t think I don’t know. You just like to cut corners, and who knows where you might have stolen this result from," said Qiao Tong, stomping her feet as she watched Chenxi’s retreating figure.
A roommate comforted her, "Qiao Tong, let it go, she’s just a fool enjoying foolish luck. Success is just the first step; there’s still much to do, and we need to focus on catching up."
Qiao Tong shook her head, "Our experiments are making no progress, and the fact that Chenxi succeeded has thrown me off, I just can’t calm down to continue with the experiments."
"What shall we do? Are we just giving up?"
"Let me calm down for a couple of days, I’ll think of something," Qiao Tong exhaled, "Let’s go."
As the two were walking out, they ran into a teacher close to Qiao Tong, who also seemed to be there for the experiments.
"Qiao Tong, you’re here? How’s the experiment going?" Qu Li asked with a smile.
"Teacher Qu, still no success, but that Chenxi from Class Three, she did it," Qiao Tong said with frustration, "I can’t believe I let such a person get ahead of me."
Qu Li patted her shoulder, "Is that so? Don’t be discouraged, keep on and you will succeed."
"I’ll take a break for two days. Teacher Qu, are you also working on a new topic?"
"Yes, the school is grading, and I need to publish papers, so I’m busy with various experiments too. Well, enough talk, I need to get in there," Qu Li said, and then suddenly asked, "Did you just say someone from Class Three succeeded in that PCR experiment?"
"Yes," Qiao Tong still looked unconvinced, "I think she just stumbled upon dumb luck. Her usual grades are always at the bottom."
"Oh," Qu Li nodded thoughtfully.

As soon as Chenxi returned to the dormitory, she was greeted with a pop-up confetti launcher, and colorful ribbons fell all over her.
"Number Four, congratulations," Xinyu threw away the confetti tube in her hand and said excitedly, "Congrats on advancing one step closer to your idol."
"I told you so, our Number Four is naturally intelligent. You could definitely do it," Susu said excitedly, hugging her and jumping a few times. "Number Four, seeing you improve like this makes us all very happy."
Listeting to Susu’s words, Chenxi was all teary-eyed. She had endured so much hardship and cried so many tears for this experiment. Now that she had finally succeeded, while she was joyful, thinking back on the road traveled also brought deep emotion. Just like Susu said, putting in the effort made her deeply satisfied, no matter the results. If successful, it meant her capabilities were sufficient; if not, no matter, she’d just keep trying. At least in the future, she wouldn’t regret not having given her best.
"Come on, let’s celebrate," Xinyu ran to the door and locked it, then pulled out a plastic bag from under the bed, gathered all sorts of snacks and bottles out onto the table.
The dormitory explicitly forbids alcohol, but the girls secretly held a can of beer each.**
