The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 600 - 522: Concealment

Chapter 600

Chapter 600: Chapter 522: Concealment
The Jian Family was out of money, and Aunt naturally was unwilling to take her in. It was only after Jian Hedong’s persistence that she was allowed to stay at their home. From that day on, the uncle and aunt had been constantly arguing over her matters.
She would often hear the sounds of fighting and scolding from outside in the middle of the night, and the next day she could see bruises on her uncle’s forehead.
Aunt was quite burly, and the short uncle, though a man, was not her match.
During those days, Jian Si lived every day in fear and trepidation, walking on thin ice, until later an incident pushed her, already standing on the edge of a cliff, a step further.
It was uncle again who saved her when she needed help most.
Later on, the relationship between uncle and aunt was not good, aunt often did not come home, and when she did, it was to argue. Later, Jian Si rented this small house where she currently lived, no longer having to listen to those hysterical voices.
In the evening, the siblings left Jian Hedong’s home with a bag of apricots.

A week passed uneventfully, and Jian Hedong called to inquire how the consultation was going; only then did Jian Si remember it.
She did not have Nan Zhan’s number, so she had to ask Nan Yu.
Nan Yu was on a mission, and his phone was turned off. Listening to the tone on the other side, Jian Si let out a long sigh of relief.
She had looked up information about this matter online, but the opinions were varied, and she couldn’t clear up who was right and who was wrong. Moreover, property matters were of great importance, so she couldn’t rely solely on hearsay online, especially since that house was the effort of her uncle’s life.
Just as Jian Si was preparing to think of other methods, the phone suddenly rang. Seeing the unfamiliar incoming call number, she picked it up without hesitation.
"At home?" A strange yet familiar voice made Jian Si’s heart tremble slightly.
"I know you’re home." His voice came again.
Jian Si quietly swallowed the words "I’m outside." In the eyes of a man like Nan Zhan, even if he didn’t see it himself, he could still see through her thoughts. She admired him, yet at the same time felt a desire to escape. Nobody likes their thoughts to be so easily seen through.
When Nan Zhan came in, Jian Si was wondering whether he was just passing by to sponge a meal again.
"I haven’t eaten yet."
Jian Si: "...."
As expected.
This place wasn’t his family’s cafeteria, yet he just came as he pleased, now sitting on the sofa acting like the man of the house with the remote control in hand.
This time, Jian Si decided not to compromise. She stood there unmoved, "Mr. Nan, are we that close?"
While switching channels, Nan Zhan heard this and revealed a mocking smile on his lips. Without even looking at her, he retorted, "Isn’t Ms. Jian quite clear on whether we’re close or not?"
A few simple words made Jian Si lose her footing, feeling guilty, so she turned and went into the kitchen.
She took out a few eggs from the fridge and chopped some leftover ham cubes from making fried rice for Zhengzheng in the morning.
She wasn’t planning on serving him any fancy meals, ultimately she just made a simple egg fried rice.
Zhengzheng loves egg fried rice very much; he can eat a big bowl in one go.
"Here." Jian Si unenthusiastically placed the bowl of rice on the coffee table in front of him.
Nan Zhan was watching the legal channel, also Zhengzheng’s favorite channel. Seeing the plain bowl of egg fried rice in front of him, he couldn’t help but look up at her.
"This is all we have left in the house, if you don’t want to eat it you can go out to eat." Jian Si lifted her chin.
Nan Zhan said nothing and started eating with his chopsticks.
Jian Si no longer paid him any mind and took Zhengzheng’s dirty clothes from the morning to the restroom to wash.
The restroom of the house was very narrow; it was so small that not even a washing machine could fit, so all the clothes in their house were hand washed by Jian Si.
The little boy was quite mischievous, and the stains on the clothes were hard to clean. Wearing big gloves, Jian Si was sitting in the restroom and scrubbed hard.
After washing three times, she finally cleaned the fruit stains thoroughly. She held them up to inspect, very satisfied, and was about to take them outside to air when she suddenly saw a person standing behind her. He was tall and large, almost completely blocking the doorway.
Jian Si had completely forgotten there was another person in the house and immediately let out a scream, dropping the clothes in her hands to the ground.
Nan Zhan looked at her indifferently: "Acting guilty like a thief."
Calling her a thief? He is the real thief, shamelessly coming to freeload meals.
"Mr. Nan, you have eaten, you have watched TV, may I ask when you will leave? It’s not quite appropriate here, just a man and a woman," Jian Si was saying passionately and forgot the clothes that had fallen at her feet, her foot tripped, and she stumbled forward.
