The Slime Doesn't Die from Mana Transfer-Chapter 109 : Sibling Conversation

Chapter 109

“Come on… the guy’s already dead, and he’s still playing riddles from the grave?”
“Riddler, get out of Gotham!”
Russell nearly wanted to dig up the old man’s bones and use 【Necromancy】 to force him to stand up and speak.
Unfortunately, 【Necromancy】 only worked on those who had just died, and even then, the dead retained no memory or intellect. No matter how powerful they were in life, in death, they were nothing more than skeleton monsters.
Still, even without Wells mentioning the Rhine Royal Magic Academy, Rozelite had already intended to go there.
The Rhine Royal Magic Academy.
Though called an “academy,” it was far more than that. Admission was restricted to nobles, wealthy families, or rare talents recruited by special recommendation. Ordinary people could never dream of crossing its gates.
Its library contained the most comprehensive collection of books in the Rhine Kingdom—if knowledge existed, it was there.
At the same time, the kingdom’s most brilliant magicians gathered there. From theory to practice, every magical discipline was represented, producing talents without end. Each year, the finest graduates received letters of recommendation, allowing them direct entry into the Magic Association.
Thus, nearly all of the Association’s higher-ups were academy alumni. The Magic Association was, in practice, the academy’s alumni club.
Regardless, its prestige was undeniable.
The academy’s headmaster, Mero Merio, was the kingdom’s strongest magician. His magical prowess was said to have surpassed the limits of human imagination. The great barrier beneath the Muscovy Mountain Range had been his creation. In both combat and research, he was the undisputed pinnacle.
Rozelite’s reason for wanting to go there was simple.
She hoped to find magic that could help Mr. Slime become human.
As his symbiotic partner, she understood both sides of his heart:
His fierce obsession with becoming human.
And his willingness to compromise for her sake.
It was precisely because of that compromise that Rozelite wanted to give something back. She refused to be the one always receiving. She wanted, in her own way, to help Mr. Slime.
“I’ll go,” Rozelite said softly. Though quiet, her words were firm.
A flicker of surprise crossed Wells’ face.
“I thought you would at least ask for more reasons.”
“…Brother, to be honest, more than an answer, I wished for the chance to hear Father explain it to me himself. But now, that is impossible.”
Rozelite paused before continuing,
“Since this was Father’s will, I’ll go as he wished. After all… I had already planned to, hadn’t I?”
In the Rhine Kingdom, there was an unspoken rule: every royal family member must graduate from the academy to be considered a qualified royal.
So far, no member of the royal family had ever failed.
Once, the responsibility might have been a heavy burden for Rozelite.
But now, she no longer viewed graduation as her goal. The world was vast—she could go anywhere. The title of a Rhine princess held little weight. After all, it had never given her anything truly worth cherishing.
“If that’s how you think, then perhaps it’s not so bad,” Wells said with a gentle sigh.
“Though this was Father’s decision, every act of a King represents the kingdom. The Rhine Kingdom owes you a debt. If you have any requests, any desires… you may tell me at any time.”
“I… have no requests, brother.”
“Then let’s move to official matters.”
Wells straightened, his tone growing firm.
“Your wanted notice was issued by the House Alexander and has spread across the entire kingdom. Now that you’ve returned, it will be rescinded. I’ll personally oversee the matter.”
He looked directly at her.
“From this moment, your identity as the Seventh Princess is fully restored. You no longer need to hide.”
Restored as the Seventh Princess…
Rozelite froze briefly, then asked, as if recalling something.
“When I was in Ato City, I heard rumors that there was another Seventh Princess in the palace…”
“That was Father’s arrangement,” Wells explained.
“A body double. With the aid of transformation magic and physical resemblance, it was not difficult to maintain. To this day, no one has uncovered her true identity.”
“Now that I’ve returned…”
“I’ll handle it. You needn’t worry. She will have no effect on you.”
“Brother… one more thing,” Rozelite raised her head.
“When can I depart for the academy? If I’m not mistaken, the new term should be beginning soon?”
Wells looked faintly surprised.
He had worried Rozelite might resist the idea. But from her tone, she seemed eager to leave sooner.
After some thought, he replied, “If you’re decided, you may leave at any time. As a restored princess, tradition dictates that attendants and maids accompany you. Your daily needs will be provided for. Don’t forget—you are still the Seventh Princess of the Rhine Kingdom. You should enjoy the privileges that come with it.”
“I don’t need attendants or maids.”
Rozelite shook her head.
“You may decide for yourself,” Wells respected her choice, then added, “But I ask that you stay three more days. The coronation ceremony is then. After it concludes, you may depart. Is that acceptable?”
“…Yes.”
Rozelite hesitated briefly, then nodded.
Wells exhaled softly.
The conversation seemed finished. Rozelite turned and walked toward the door.
Behind her, Wells said:
“Your room has been kept as it was. It’s cleaned every day. You may return to rest there.”
“No need, brother,” Rozelite replied quietly.
“I want to walk outside alone, to see the city.”
“…Very well.”
Before he could finish, her figure flickered.
The place she had been standing was empty. Only the faintly swaying door proved she had just left.
Silence filled the office.
Wells sank into his chair, closed his eyes, as though resting.
A moment later, a chamberlain entered.
Wells spoke in an even tone.
“Find the Seventh Princess. Ask her to come to my office.”
“Alone. Bring nothing.”
