The Stargazing Witch & The Dungeon Planet-Chapter 170: Black Metal Mana

Chapter 170: Black Metal Mana
While Espr was gone, that didn’t mean too much to my current predicament. I still had a job to do and people to murder, and I guess people to protect.
These hulks aren’t too rough to deal with…
I was toying in my head with what to call these creations, and hulks sounded good enough. Calling them mechs didn’t really work since there were already mechs on both sides of the combat.
But that might be because I am the one dealing with them…
These massive constructs of metal were appearing in various locations, more than the original few that had appeared and had entered the fray. The results from the other people dealing with them were less than ideal. They pulled in mana from their environment, annoying not for personal use reservoirs, but to mutate into a kind of barrier that surrounded them. This passive effect weakened attacks against it two-fold, as it provided a shield and it turned elemental and other mana attacks–including bullets–into the shield. It was only a partial convert, but it would make it harder to fight the creature.
I observed the others having a more difficult time, but difficulty didn’t mean impossible. The people with actual power under their belts were able to destroy the hulks, but those who simply fired mana bullets were having a less than ideal time.
For me, they weren’t as hard, as the absorption didn’t work on my abilities, and whatever weakening effect they possessed didn’t bother me. For me, Starlight and physical attacks were the most effective methods to deal with the hulks.
“Seriously?” My arm spun around and grabbed the Dominous Hood scum’s helmet that tried to jump me. I didn’t even turn around as a spike emerged from my hand and impaled their head. “So many vermin. Isn’t that right?!” I called out to the many other Dominous Hood thugs that were in the area watching. Thinking they were all so sneaky and bloody stupid, stealth couldn’t hide from even one of my senses.
The swarm of black ants immediately rushed towards me, and as my body glowed in red Starlight, I countered with my burning physical might.
“Argh!” I roared as my claw melted through the armour of the first fool, slammed him into the ground and kicked his lights out permanently.
Lightning spiralled towards me from a massive gun that one person shot. I easily saw it coming and dodged out of the way while a crying boy attacked me. Its black flames were pushed back when it came in contact with my Starlight armour, and we grappled as it overpowered him. The complete shock was visible in his eyes as he couldn’t believe something was physically overpowering him.
“What? Expecting your little enhancements to do something to make your life worth something?!” I laughed as my hands glowed with solar light, and it burned against his metal flesh.
“eeeGR” He made no human sound as her body boiled.
A set of Starlight Arrows formed behind me and shot towards the person bringing down their sword at my back. I turned and cracked the cyborg’s hands and flung him like a bowling ball to the shooting with the tesla gun thing.
The cyborg flew past as the loser dodged to the side. “Oh, I missed.” I jumped after the gunner and continued my assault.
I could feel their fear as they tried to shoot while retreating. Lightning erupted from the ground as some kind of trap formed, but its restraints couldn’t even hold me for a second as my hand tore into the gunner and exploded his heart with the heat wave.
Hmmm…. Reality is warping…
In a way I could feel the restrictions of Existence cry out. Not with any emotions but as if it was just stating a fact. My own presence likely wasn’t helping but I wasn’t going to turn off the hose now; I still needed the energy flowing into me as well.
I wonder if Espr is doing something.
This side of Existence felt as if it was being pushed on by the other side.
The cyborg didn’t return after it stood up from becoming a bowling ball. It chose to retreat and support some other fool, but what made it more foolish was the thought that I was ever going to let it run away.
Based on past experience, I created an arrow of flames and condensed it in a Starlight shell. The latter was better at piercing flesh, which was proven again as the arrow soared through the sky like a bird and arched down into the man’s flesh as it exploded in a red nova.
“At least your death was a little pretty.” I looked around and saw more hulks harassing people and figured that was a good enough spot to help out.
I blitzed towards the hulks to help out in the fight.
My arm blocked the hulk’s arm swing as I used my other hand to pick up the man on the ground who was about to eat a metal fist and threw him to the side.
The hulk threw its whole body weight down at me.
Stupid.
My body lit up in flames as I jumped and tore the hulk apart from the inside and immediately jumped to the next one. The internal mesh tried stabbing while I broke its body, but it couldn’t crack through my defences.
With that done, I continued with the killing. Quickly dealing with the remainder that stood around and once that was complete, I jumped towards the next battlefield.
When is he going to surface?
The bomb underground had to come up soon. The power flowing within him and the ego that I could feel radiating off him, I doubted he would stay in the backseat for long. Soon he would want to, no, need to show off his power to the world. Not that I didn’t understand that behaviour.
While I personally didn’t care about showing off my abilities, my essence, to the universe and its people. There was a large sense of freedom and joy from letting loose.
It can’t be long…
For the moment, it was clear that he was just flexing his abilities and learning how to utilise them to the fullest. Unlike mine, he was probably having an easier job because they were extensions of his existing abilities and he hadn’t exactly gone through a full rebirth.
Now, if I tried hard enough, I could rush down there and begin fighting him, but that held its own problems. Despite my body being absurdly strong, my preferred method of combat was to have plenty of space to utilise. Being trapped in an underground area where I didn’t know what random artefact could do was dangerous. It was his home-field advantage, and I wasn’t almighty in this combat. My energy stores were recovering, but I didn’t have an infinite output. Perhaps I was reckless with my earlier performances, but that was simply a mistake I would have to live with.
Trying my best, I used my physical strength to fight against the hulks and other Dominous Hood fucks that got in my way. Teaming up with the assault force proper, who thankfully didn’t accidentally shoot me. Looks like confirmation that the burning woman was on their side had been properly communicated. There was something in my armour that should’ve helped with the recognition, but it had been destroyed. My own fault. honestly.
Finally, I watched as far away as the ground opened up, and the man on his throne of black metal and mana showed himself to the world. It had taken a little bit, but he finally revealed himself. The mana from his form rippled across the surface, and I watched as the cyborgs were empowered, and many people of the assault force were hit with a sudden wave of sickness that led to dire consequences.
Dammit…
The man was already causing havoc.
Haa…. Come on, Ceella, focus that energy.
I pulled on the connection to my domain and dragged that power further into my body as the star at the core of my world hummed. A large amount of heat began flowing from my body as it slipped out and burned away my armour. I couldn’t complain too much. It was basically scrapped at this point, but I rebuilt it with a hard purple and red light.
My body floated in the air as the energy concreted within me.
Then, in a flick, I burned across the planet’s surface like a burning arrow with only one target in mind.
