Chapter 506: Chapter 506: This is Definitely Marrying into a Top-Tier Wealthy Family
The two directors thought she retired from acting because she was pregnant. Considering her future identity, their eyes lit up instantly—this was a sure sign she was marrying into a top elite family.
Looking at how Ignatius Leclair meticulously cared for and arranged everything for Delphine, even inviting people like them, who were not really her friends, it clearly showed how much he valued her. Otherwise, given their status, being able to receive an invitation to the number one elite family in Southeast Asia? Ha, they could talk about it once they themselves reached the level of an elite family, someday.
Theodore Hughes had always been deeply grateful towards Delphine. It was she who had pulled him out when he was at his lowest point and led him to the pinnacle of his career.
"Do you think the gifts we brought might be too modest?" Theodore asked somewhat nervously. After all, aside from Delphine, they were also going to meet the heir of the number one family.
After receiving the invitation yesterday, he had dragged Old Ge out overnight to select gifts. After much deliberation, they settled on a bottle of vintage red wine and a box of exquisite, delicious pastries. Although the wine was immensely valuable, bringing it here might still seem insufficient.
Jason immediately looked distressed. He had brought a few thick photo albums containing snapshots of Delphine’s most important moments since her debut, along with blessings from her fans. He felt that his gift was the least presentable.
When Theodore brought it up, even Kyla Zamora became a bit uneasy, feeling that the gifts they brought were indeed somewhat meager.
"Actually, Miss Delphine doesn’t even know that you’re coming. If seeing you all makes her happy, it will mean more than any gift," Maximilian said with a smile, adding, "Right now, if Miss Delphine wanted the moon in the sky, Ignatius Leclair might just lose his head and order us to fetch it. Competing in wealth with someone like him? Let’s not even try."
Everyone thought about it and realized that might just be the case.
The group passed through a courtyard filled with lush green trees and blossoming flowers, stepping into a wooden corridor where every three steps offered a different artistic view. Around them, intricate designs showcased exceptional creativity. Inside a semi-open art lounge, Delphine sat on a wooden recliner, a thin woolen blanket draped over her, quietly reading a book. Near her, a screen partitioned off a serene tea room. A handsome and stoic man was brewing tea. When he noticed their arrival, his phoenix-like eyes glanced over, deep as the sea and cold as midnight stars, exuding a commanding sense of awe.
In this tranquil and harmonious space, everyone unconsciously lightened their footsteps for fear of disturbing this quiet sanctuary within a bustling city.
The regal man exuding nobility stepped forward, nodded slightly at them, and said, "Please, go ahead and chat."
His voice was low and frosty, carrying the commanding aura of someone in an eminent position, tempered by a steadiness as unshakable as a mountain.
"Of course, Mr. Leclair," Kyla Zamora, having met Ignatius Leclair on a few occasions before, was not as nervous as the others. Forcing a smile, she quickly responded.
Fortunately, Ignatius merely stopped by to greet them, then left the space to them as he turned and walked out.
Everyone let out a collective sigh of relief, feeling as though even the air had loosened up.
"Delphine, Delphine, we’re here to see you!" Jason, as soon as Ignatius exited, immediately called out cheerfully.
Delphine looked up and was momentarily stunned to see them, then, both delighted and a bit incredulous, asked, "What are you all doing here?"
"Of course, we came to visit you and the baby," Kyla Zamora said with a satisfied smile. Even after months of absence, Delphine’s beauty still took her breath away.
Director Ge and Theodore Hughes placed their gifts on a flower-patterned table on the side and began chatting about recent developments.
"You have no idea," Kyla Zamora said, her voice catching with emotion. "When I accepted the award on your behalf, it was the first time I cried so hard. I worked so hard to bring out a top actress like you. Why did you have to retire?" She could not hide her lingering regret over Delphine’s retirement, her voice breaking as she spoke.
