Chapter 533: Chapter 533: Do you plan to get married and have children in the future?
Ignatius Leclair walked into the Howard Family’s living room, only to see the elderly lady holding the tear-streaked infant, Baby Belle, while some of the Howard Family’s aunts surrounded them, doing everything they could to soothe her.
The elderly lady’s silver hair was meticulously combed, and she had dressed for the occasion in a brocade qipao reserved for formal events. Worried that her jewelry might hurt Baby Belle, she even removed the jade bracelet she had worn for years, cradling her precious little one in her arms, tenderly pampering her with all her heart.
All the mischievous children in the Howard Family had grown up, and it wasn’t easy to finally have a little great-great-granddaughter. The elderly lady’s face was practically glowing with joy.
When the elderly lady saw Ignatius Leclair enter, her smile vanished instantly. She turned a blind eye to him and continued comforting Baby Belle.
Baby Belle had just been fed, cried softly for a while, and then fell asleep like a little piggy, completely oblivious to the fact that she wouldn’t see her mommy or Brother Belle for quite some time.
The elderly lady had someone carry Baby Belle to the prepared nursery before calling Ignatius Leclair over to the tea room.
Looking at her grandson, so talented yet so distant, now raising a child all alone, the elderly lady’s eyes reddened as she choked up, "It’s my fault. If I hadn’t misjudged people back then and failed to watch over Arlene, your mother wouldn’t have passed away so early, and you wouldn’t have turned out this way."
Ignatius Leclair couldn’t stand seeing the elderly lady cry. A flicker of helplessness passed across his perpetually stony face as he said gravely, "It’s your grandson’s fault. Grandma, just punish me directly."
The elderly lady immediately stopped crying but her elegant face revealed a trace of sternness. "What’s going on between you and that young woman? You’re making such a mess of things, why? Now, those two wonderful twins, one stays with the dad, the other stays with the mom, separated from such a young age. Are you trying to make their lives miserable?"
Ignatius Leclair pressed his thin lips tightly together and said in a deep voice, "That young woman is Magnus Leclair’s choice."
The elderly lady was shocked. She was well aware of her grandson’s condition, which was why she had always doted on him. Hearing now that Magnus liked that young woman made her even angrier.
"What do you mean Magnus isn’t you? If he likes someone, you don’t?!" The elderly lady’s heart ached with rage. Her grandson was exceptional in every way, but when it came to emotions, he was practically a fool. "If you didn’t like her, would you have allowed her to give birth to these twins? Just because you refused to accept the partner Magnus chose for you, now things have turned out like this. You’re really infuriating me."
To the elderly lady, Ignatius and Magnus were essentially one and the same. Ignatius was a perfectionist shaped by the environment of the Leclair Family. From a young age, he had fragmented himself to cope, which had led to the emergence of his second personality. Nevertheless, the two personalities still operated as one entity—otherwise, how could they have coexisted peacefully for so many years?
Ignatius Leclair’s expression remained cold, and he stayed silent. Magnus had no right to decide his life partner; he was the primary personality.
"Let me ask you, do you plan to get married in the future? Do you intend to have more children?" The elderly lady changed her approach, knowing he hadn’t yet overcome the internal barrier in his heart.
"With Belle and Baby Belle, I don’t have any plans for that at the moment," the man responded deeply. Marriage and children had never been part of his life’s blueprint.
The elderly lady suddenly felt enlightened, this foolish man didn’t know he’d regret it later. But outwardly, she said, "Children can’t grow up without a mother. Go find a mother for Baby Belle—and as for Belle, I’ll find a fitting, accomplished young man to help that young woman raise him."
Ignatius Leclair’s face immediately darkened.
