Chapter 577: Chapter 577: It’s Great to Have You
Since this was her comeback and her first time making a film, Delphine decided to start with a small-budget movie featuring the theme of youthful first love.
When Desmond Wood excitedly followed the address to find young Delphine, he didn’t even have time to shout and hug her before being informed that he was about to debut as the male lead.
Desmond’s mouth fell open, and he froze like a wooden statue.
"Your look is great. Sure, you seem a bit dazed, but baby faces are in right now. Teenage girls love shy and cute guys like you," Kyla Zamora inspected Desmond thoroughly and nodded in satisfaction.
"Let Desmond try a screen test first. If his acting isn’t up to par, he’ll just play a bit part," Delphine mused aloud, reasoning that even with a minimal budget, acting quality was essential.
Desmond snapped out of his daze, only to gape widely again. A bit part? Him? Delphine must have been drinking counterfeit alcohol.
When Desmond learned that Delphine planned to start a film studio, he instantly exploded with excitement.
"Me, the male lead, absolutely capable—I’ve got the looks, I can conquer everything, alright?" Desmond declared eagerly as he pointed to his baby face. "I definitely need to invest in this studio. I’ll bring our village’s seventy-eight people to invest too. If you need manpower, come to me; for funds, go to Finnian."
Desmond had now wisely changed his "clan members" to "villagers."
"Your village only has seventy-eight people? And all of them want to invest? Are you the village chief or something?" Kyla Zamora was a bit baffled, wondering if this baby-faced guy was entirely reliable.
Desmond winked at Delphine mischievously, barely holding back from explaining that even though Finnian seemed shady, his methods were undeniably effective. Within three years, he had led the entire clan—oh, wait, the entire village—towards prosperity.
"Even though our village is now middle-class, lots of the elders are unemployed and bored out of their minds, always looking for me to chat. Delphine, why not bring us all along for the ride? I’ll be the male lead, and they can play the extras." Desmond thought it was an absolutely brilliant idea.
Delphine roughly understood the Wood Family situation. Even though Finnian had led the village to prosperity, breaking free from its isolation, many people couldn’t adapt to society. Extras didn’t require strong acting skills, and giving them something to do could help them integrate into society while earning their own money—truly a win-win.
"You should go ask Finnian for his opinion on this. If he agrees, it’s settled," Delphine said with a smile and a nod.
Desmond eagerly called Finnian, then ran back, hugged Delphine, and spun her three times in sheer exhilaration, exclaiming like an overjoyed child, "You’re a genius, young Delphine! You’ve solved our entire village’s population resettlement issue. You know what? Finnian said he’ll fund it as part of your dowry. You just take charge and handle everything!"
Delphine felt dizzy from all the spinning, but seeing that both funding and manpower problems had been solved within a day—and that the film studio’s initial shape was starting to form—she couldn’t help but feel delighted.
That evening, Kyla Zamora and Desmond refused to leave and stayed over to continue planning the studio.
The next morning, Delphine revived her Weibo account, inactive for three years, with a new post: "An ordinary day. It’s great to have you."
The accompanying image was an unexpected one: Delphine, wearing a simple long dress after three years away, standing alongside a young boy in a blue navy-striped vest. The boy carried an adorable piglet-shaped backpack, holding Delphine’s hand. Delphine, with her head bowed and her gentle smile, looked as stunning in profile as ever.
