Chapter 582: Chapter 582: You Aren’t Using a Scam Involving Self-Inflicted Injury to Deceive Leah Squire, Are You?
Delphine was momentarily stunned. Ignatius Leclair is here?
"He came to drop off little Benjamin." Kyla Zamora nodded repeatedly, her legs still trembling a bit. When the man arrived and learned that Delphine wasn’t home, his face instantly darkened. His deep, ink-black phoenix eyes slightly lifted at the corners, sending chills down anyone’s spine.
Kyla and Desmond Wood were nearly frozen into statues. Using the excuse of taking the two adorable kids upstairs, they scurried away without daring to look back.
Delphine walked to the window. Across the row of vintage street lamps in the courtyard, sure enough, there was a Bentley parked. It was just positioned slightly off to the side, so she hadn’t noticed it when she came back.
"Benjamin, why did your daddy bring you here?" Delphine beckoned to little Benjamin and picked him up.
With his small head tilted, Benjamin softly said, "I missed Mommy. Daddy was upset at home, so we came."
"Mommy, is Benjamin’s little sister staying here tonight?" Nicholas tugged at Delphine’s hem, his big, dark eyes looking up at her, full of longing. He wanted to act spoiled like Benjamin, but he felt he was too grown-up for that.
Delphine bent down and kissed his little cheek, gently asking, "Does Nicholas want to go to kindergarten with Benjamin tomorrow?"
Nicholas, kissed by his mommy, immediately lit up. He nodded vigorously, his face breaking into a wide, happy grin.
Seeing her brother Nicholas get kisses while she didn’t, little Benjamin’s sister immediately pouted and tugged at Delphine, feeling aggrieved.
Delphine, utterly charmed by both little ones, gave her a kiss on the cheek as well.
Kyla Zamora, noticing Delphine was entirely focused on the kids and not at all anxious, coughed softly and asked in a low voice, "Delphine, are you really just going to ignore Mr. Leclair?"
He’s been waiting for an hour now. Earlier, Kyla had thought Ignatius was just going to leave Delphine high and dry, but judging from his actions, it didn’t seem that way. Could it be that Delphine was the one who abandoned him? Kyla was startled by the thought.
After asking Nicholas to take his little sister to play, Delphine finally remembered Ignatius. She nodded and said, "I’ll take a shower first. If he’s still here after that, then I’ll go see him."
Kyla froze. What? Let Mr. Leclair keep waiting?
The man sat inside the car, with the lights off. The interior was dimly lit, illuminated only by the faint halos from the row of street lamps outside.
After waiting for an hour, watching the woman return, carrying her bag, punch in the code, and head inside without so much as acknowledging his presence, Ignatius frowned. Was his presence really that negligible, or was this woman born without a lick of self-preservation?
His car wasn’t exactly parked in some remote corner.
Ignatius leaned against the car door. Even after three years, he still couldn’t quite adjust to the dry climate here.
Checking the time, he felt increasingly irked. He made a call to Richard Shaw, blowing cold air into the Imperial City night while complaining inwardly. Shaw, on the other hand, was living it up in Switzerland. Over the past three years, under the guise of seeking treatment, he had tricked Leah Squire into staying with him there, completely forgetting about home. Ha.
It was currently evening in Switzerland. For the sake of recovering his legs, Richard Shaw had purchased an estate there, with Leah Squire’s name on the deed.
"The sun must’ve risen from the west today, huh?" Richard, lounging on the lawn of his estate, asked teasingly.
The infamous Mr. Leclair—reserved and cunning—usually called him either to vent or to ask a favor. Nothing more, nothing less.
When Ignatius heard the call connect, he lazily responded, "Three years of treatment, and your legs still aren’t healed? Don’t tell me this was all a ploy to keep Leah there with you."
Three years without any news of a wedding or celebration.
Richard’s eyes flickered subtly, his sharply handsome face betraying no trace of guilt. Truly, only Ignatius could see through him.
