Chapter 621

Chapter 621: Chapter 621: Major General Xie missed what should be his own White Moonlight.
Delphine had always held a good impression of this Major General. Back in the South Seas, during those awkward days of her life, Richard Shaw had extended her an olive branch. Although she wasn’t sure how he had ended up with Leah, Richard Shaw, at least on the surface, seemed far more reliable than Ignatius Leclair.
It was just unfortunate that the Shaw Family’s status was so lofty, and Richard Shaw’s position so unique. She felt for Leah and didn’t wish for Leah to marry into the Shaw Family.
"How long have you known Leah, Major Shaw?" Delphine asked thoughtfully. Back then, she had only heard Ignatius mention it in passing, enough to know Leah had been adopted by a prominent family in the Imperial City. Given that Ignatius could know Leah, there was no reason Richard Shaw wouldn’t know her as well.
Previously, Delphine had never thought about it. Now, as she pondered, a vague chill seemed to arise within her.
She had always been detached and rarely sought to probe deeply into matters. When it came to Leah, however, she now felt a sliver of regret for not asking more questions back then.
Richard Shaw’s gaze darkened, and the Buddha Beads in his hand, polished to a deep black luster, were steadily clasped within his palm as he replied calmly, "We knew each other before, missed our chance then, but I’m determined not to miss it again now."
Leah emerged from the living room and stood under the porch, half-hugging her arms, saying nothing.
Richard Shaw noticed her wearing a knitted home dress that revealed her delicate, graceful collarbone. Her waist-length curls were casually pinned up with a wooden hairpin, exuding a laziness and allure that was almost ethereal. Yet her small face was coldly beautiful, her temperament proud and willful, making her irresistibly endearing.
Richard Shaw had flown here directly on a private jet, asking Delphine Carter for her address and rushing over without delay. In his mind, considering Ignatius Leclair’s meticulous nature, it was about time for him to arrive with his daughter as well. After all, the news of the conflict between Ignatius and the Land Family had already reached Switzerland.
"Leah, I’ll come in only after you’re done being mad," Richard said with a steady smile as he sat in his wheelchair, his back as solid as a mountain.
Leah stormed back into the living room, unwilling to acknowledge him.
Seeing the heavy snowfall outside, Delphine couldn’t help but smile faintly and remarked, "Major Shaw, you should come inside. The snow is heavy out there."
Before her words had even faded, a black Rolls-Royce pulled up. Benjamin Leclair, wrapped up like a fluffy little bundle, was carried out of the car by a tall man. The child’s short legs kicked eagerly to reach the ground. Once they finally touched the soft snow, Benjamin took a couple of vigorous steps and then raised his little head, beaming with joy as he called out, "Mommy, Mommy, Benjamin is here!"
Benjamin, taking wobbly steps in excitement, was about to dash over when the handsome and composed man behind him caught his puffy jacket, his voice low and steady as he said, "Benjamin Leclair, do you think you’re a ball that can roll into the house like that?"
Benjamin looked at his daddy with a pout of grievance and retorted, "If I’m a ball, then Daddy is the ball’s daddy."
Ignatius’s face darkened instantly.
Off to the side, Major Shaw let out a low chuckle.
Already clad in her cozy house attire, Delphine stepped out, scooping up the little bundled-up girl in her arms, her smile tender as she said, "Benjamin isn’t a ball. Benjamin is the most adorable girl in the whole world."
Benjamin’s tears turned into laughter as she gave Delphine a sweet kiss and chimed, "Mommy is the best mommy in the whole world."
Cradling Benjamin in her arms, Delphine carried her inside. The moment Benjamin entered, her bright eyes fell on the unfamiliar yet beautiful lady in the room. Her round, sparkling eyes held a hint of amazement as she sweetly said, "Auntie, I’m Benjamin. I’m Mommy’s little Benjamin."
Leah couldn’t help but laugh, scooping up the soft little bundle and planting a big kiss on her. For a moment, she thought to herself—how could that scoundrel Ignatius have fathered such an adorable little girl? It must be some bizarre twist of fate.
